Firstly, welcome to the game.
1. Any genie is fine, what matters most is how you decide to distribute the attribute points because attribute points will determine which skills you can acquire for your genie. However, the most popular genie is the zeal (gold) genie which starts with a useful skill that allows you to "pull" mobs one at a time....not an essential skill but one which comes in very handy.
2. I would recommend getting all 4 manufacturing skills for your "main" character as all of them are useful. Once one character has them, you can use that character to make all your stuff for your other characters.0 -
Imo - I rather have my ingame friends make things for me than try to finish the quests to level up my manu - but I do have apoth, which is great I use it often. When it comes to the other manu's, it just depends on if you prefer to have your name on your gear or not ^^ and Like DeadRaven said - it's mostly just aesthetic - the white genie (discipline) has an innate skill to make your flying mount go faster, otherwise most people pick zeal x3 Ask more questions if you have them, that's what we're here for.Ling__Tong 101 bm ~ PheosNyx 103 wiz ~ Arande 100 HArcher ~ xXxKuro 100 barb ~ AnselTyme 101 cleric ~ lukeFONfabre 96 seeker ~ Tori_Anzu 90 mystic ~ KateiiHimura 95 veno ~ Artemaeus 58 psy. k ty for answering my questions guys and gals and kinda got another question. i heard that questing is the fast exp 1-30 but for 30+ is grinding fast exp cause i don't like questing i hate flying back and forthb:cry heard also u can make good money from drops
oh and is there any quest that gives a perm flyer?0 -
For genies I recommend staying away from infliction and using discipline. I say this because wizzies rely heavily on their genie to survive in pvp so a high dex genie is required while str has no place on a genie used to protect.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

PvP at low levels ... is something strange.
Take any genie, Zeal is best.
Look for skills which you can use.
Look for what they need to be strong.
Dexterity is useless at low level genie of Wizard for sure....
oh and is there any quest that gives a perm flyer?
The Art of Flight is this quest.0 -
As Voltaire said, Discipline is usually the best for mages.
Since nearly every single skill you use will rely on dex for effectiveness (Extreme Poison, Spark, Expel, Holy Path, Badge of Courage, Fortify, Tree of Protection, Remove Paralysis...), you're going to want to pump in as much dex as possible. That's done by having as little strength, because strength is usually completely useless.
This is my genie: http://i.imgur.com/SHOrg.png
You can learn a lot from the genie guide.
@Toliman: dexterity is never useless with genie skills like Spark and Expel.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/P6608.png[/SIGPIC]

well, the thing is, it's extremely unlikely that he will play with his first genie till the end (or keep one genie at high lvls); so it doesnt really matter in the first levels.you only purge once #yopo0

Well yes, of course, he isn't going to be using Absolute Domain (or needing it) at level 25. But every little bit helps so why not?[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/P6608.png[/SIGPIC]

1. Yes, leveling from 1-30 goes by relatively fast if you focus on your quests. Plus, you will make enough money from the rewards and drops to meet the needs of your "young" character. If you have real life money to spend, I would recommend buying a mount and spurs (spurs will allow you to use a mount at level 20 rather than level 40). Of course, if you have money to spend, you could also just buy FCC from a high level player to power level but I would NOT recommend this as you will not learn how to play your character. Plus, why play a game if you are going to skip everything.
2. At 30+ it is still better to do your quests than it is to grind unless you are desperate for drops to make some money. At level 40 you can also start doing Bounty Hunter quests which gives you a lot of experience and are a lot of fun as they are done with squads. I would wait until you hit 80+ before trying to find squads to do FCC which is also a good way to level. I suggest 80+ because it is easy to level to 80 with just quests and BH, plus anything below that is rather squishy for FCC, especially for arcane but you may want to try earlier....assuming that you can find a squad that will take you.
3. Yes, as a previous poster mentioned, you get a quest at level 30 that will give you a permanent flyer but it is not very fast.0 -

Worst-case scenario would be the wizzie later gets curious about genies and finds out they've stocked on a good stat and should consider some vit/mag, they still have the freedom to do this. If they do their research early they can do vit/mag sooner and dex later, it really won't matter since genies play a rather small role in pve besides luring. I consider it the tank's job to have zeal for safest. luring but if you want one that bad, carry a spare.
One thing I don't want the op doing is statting a bunch of str, wasting affinity towards useless skills and potentially wasting a genie that might have nice lp and having to dump coin/spirit on another genie that could go towards skills/gear instead.
Dex improves the effectiveness of extreme poison and holy path, the two skills I personally used the most while lvling, that's far from useless. Str helps second wind, which people always drop later on. Not saying you suggested str at all, just pointing out which one is really useless here.
Oh, and idk about you, but I started pvping almost as soon.as I could. It was hard for a wizzie at those lvls, but.still fun.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I know, OP has his answers already and I don't want to start new thread to answer for post of VoItaire - Harshlands.
Here is it.VoItaire - Harshlands wrote: »Worst-case scenario would be the wizzie later gets curious about genies and finds out they've stocked on a good stat and should consider some vit/mag, they still have the freedom to do this. Long time ago genies were absent.
Some players not use them even now.
Since I use genies starting from low levels for PvE, I wrote above post.VoItaire - Harshlands wrote: »I consider it the tank's job to have zeal for safest. luring but if you want one that bad, carry a spare...
My Wizard tanked all his cultivation bosses.
He tank bosses for bhs too.
So, I always use Zeals except one genie with good lucky points.VoItaire - Harshlands wrote: »...

Any genie has very small chance to have nice lucky points.
My best for this character now is 45/60, but in any case I will not waste his attribute points for dexterity.
Also character can reset Attribute points of genie if he will need it.VoItaire - Harshlands wrote: »...

Holy path need 100 dexterity points to increase duration by 1 second, so what you are talking about ?VoItaire - Harshlands wrote: »...

Second Wind is only usefull genie skill for self-healing of characters with life less than 4k HP points.VoItaire - Harshlands wrote: »...

Not sure what that statement has to do with anything. There's no reason to assume the op wouldn't be using a genie especially since one of their questions was in fact regarding genies.Toliman - Raging Tide wrote: »My Wizard tanked all his cultivation bosses.

All the more reason to not waste one if he happens to get lucky.
That's fine if you don't PvP.
You should've read the part where I said the op could avoid wasting money that could go to skills/gear instead.Toliman - Raging Tide wrote: »I not use Extreme poison since I often use better strength based skill instead (not now yet, I just leveled above genie having Wizard level 75).

Not for all of them.
Some bosses can be killed at proper level.
Here is example (Wizard level 54 kill cultivation bosses):

Same for Kashu the Hirudini Myriadept (click each link to see images):

And may be not cultivation, but 6 levels more than my Wizard:
Obsidian Bat Spirit.

I dropped skills at my genies, reseted affinity, attribute points, so it is not so scare for me.
And even more interesting, that OP krishal is still level 5 Wizard according Core Connect.0 -

Impressive. But none of these require a zeal lure and you still needed a tank for luminoc and fugma right? And if there were some remember how a mentioned carrying a spare genie?Toliman - Raging Tide wrote: »I quoted your post where you said that "genies play a rather small role in pve besides luring".

So yeah, only the tank really needs a lure genie, but that spare one in your inv could come in handy if the tank doesn't have it.Toliman - Raging Tide wrote: »Cloud Eruption.

That skill's nice, but it's another playstyle thing. I personally have never found use for it on any of my chars because I've learned how to conserve my chi while kiting and ways to get some extra chi gain in the process. The skill will rarely be used midbattle in pvp. It's certainly not gonna save you from that sin who just stealth sparked you or that bm who got in a random occult ice.Toliman - Raging Tide wrote: »I dropped skills at my genies, reseted affinity, attribute points, so it is not so scare for me.
I would think a new player would need all the coins they can get unless they're a 'heavy' cash shopper.Toliman - Raging Tide wrote: »And even more interesting, that OP krishal is still level 5 Wizard according Core Connect.
Also interesting he's on a PvP server. But I think he just plays a different wizzie since he also has the "It's Magic!" achievement. On my other account it shows my mystic as 90, but on core it shows him as 100 so I guess core doesn't have the update issues.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
VoItaire - Harshlands wrote: »Impressive. But none of these require a zeal lure and you still needed a tank for luminoc and fugma right?...
I have screenshots for them also, but I tanked them later, because Wizard must have proper physical defense to tank Luminoc Architect and good healing to tank Commander Fugma:
Commander Fugma
Luminoc Architect
Luminoc Architect finished
Also Zeal I used for my bhs (all of them) and fbs.
For example, for cultivation boss Zimo:
Zimo

This is skill for PvE.
I found that my character use sparks as soon as he has them.
Best case is when he is able to cast 2 spells/skills required 2 sparks each one by one.0 -
hi wanted to ask another question here since this thread is still going. i bought some gold to buy a either a fast ride or flyer but not sure which one to get...i want this 11 speed bike but was kinda thinking if my wizz gets aggro while passing by some mobs i might get blown up :P but if i get a bike i'll be able to outrun those nasty sins or other pkers when i'm pveing oh and do rides have a haste skill like flyers?0
-
Well any genie will do fine for any class, though a lot prefer zeal (for teh starter skill Earthflame), same thing with crafting, it's not really something that is class specific, I personally suggest TRYING to get all 4, though it's not really required if you get friends you trust to make your gear and have the skill needed...
What a new player should be more concerned with is what type of build you want...
Two suggestions I have for wizzy is pure mag and mag-vit hybrid (never tested the second)
Pure mag : 9 magic 1 str every 2 levels, capping str at 5x(don't remember the exact number, someone else is sure to have it...) This build maximizes damage, but has low HP and such
Mag-Vit : 8 Mag, 1 vit, 1 str every two levels, capping vit when you feel you have enough survivability... Ofc this gives more HP and higher defenses, I've never played with this build on my wizzy though, and plan on swapping this build off my cleric for a pure mag build...
There's also a Light Armor build, but I don't know the stat distribution, and hear bad things about it...Current Gears

No, no haste skill, and you MAY be able to outrun sins on it, but I'm sure if they really want to kill you they could hop on theirs and chase you until you stop... OR if they see you coming before you pass by them they could have time to shadow tele and it'll be over like that..Current Gears

distance shrink+ ride off will save my sweet behind against the other classes rite? will be mostly using it for questing. lol no haste? r all rides like that cause why do the rides in cashshop say durable? any chance lobsters got haste?0
-
As far as i no i dont belive you can use distance shrink whilst using a mount. A flyer you can but not on a mount some one will correct me if im rong.
And one more thing to the person saying that they can tank all there culti's with there wizard LOL! man i cant even tank bh69 i struggle with bh59 inorder to do it i need A cleric/mystic charm and a heck of allot of crab as if you have created a wizard that is going to be a decent Damge dealer your hp will generally not be very high with out gear with crit stones my hp with out barb buff and my gears on is only like 2.6k ( i failed early with putting points on vit )with all gears and buffs this bumps to 3.9k or some thing like that at a lower lvl of using a wizard i would suggest not even bothering with putting points on to vit as it is a waste the point will only give you 10 exter vit points so if you had 50 points on it at say lvl 50 thats 500 xtra hp ( is that 500 xp worth it? ) when you could have put it on to mana. strength wirh a wizard is good to level to 54 as that is the highest strngth you will be requred to have. Dex worthless Dont even level it. grinding to get levels is boaring as hell once you get demon or sage ( dont get sage ) grind in there its slow but better xp. Also just do fc heads if you can afford them and some one is selling whilst doing quests.0 -

There is no TT60 gear. If you meant TT70.. well then..
Anymore, you can go with quest reward gear, drops, etc till TT90 gear. It's good to at least get the boots/wrists of that, since you'll be turning those into TT99 (unless you go R9 at lvl 101 right away.)
Rank 8 gives you the top/pants/belt and wep. You can get boots/wrists for it too, but the cost of those is not worth it vs other options. I don't recommend the r8 belt, since it's elemental, and by that point, you should be working on balancing your defenses by going with a physical belt. R9 belt is a different story.
Finish your OHT quest chain after lvl 100 to get the Guard of Thundershock protection belt. It refines to give pdef, and it's free. (only req's lvl 95, but good luck getting that quest chain done before 100+)
There is no rank necklace, hat, or cape. If you're going to invest in r9, then you might as well shoot for the cube protection necklace for when you hit 80. As for capes, a lot of the good ones for a wiz can be used at lower lvl's. Lunar, Cloudcharger, or Matchless wings are good ones to shoot for. Cloudcharger req's lvl 45, Matchless lvl 60, and Lunar at 90. I've seen some wizzies with the nirv cape, which req's lvl 100.
There is a HUGE difference cost wise between r8 and r9, so make sure you plan accordingly. While reserving all your resources and putting nothing into your gear until you can get r9 is noble, you'll be left as a fairly ineffectual wizard until you're able to get it.
No skills can be used while on a mount. However, unless you're on a pvp server, or spend your time in pk mode, getting ganked while questing is not going to be a concern.0
