Honest Question

Ok, this is an honest question so please do not flame it too bad. Partially because I simply want to know and partially because I am old and probably would just pity you for flaming a genuine, honest question.
I have been browsing the forums and reading through the FC glitch thread and it seems to me that there is ALOT of concern about people leveling up fast and hatred for them going on. At one point, I think someone called for the heads of their first born on a pike outside W. Arch but I could be incorrect about that.
Anyways, at the risk of sounding old and out of it, what, exactly, is the big deal ?
How exactly does it impact the game or other people for some people to "fast lvl" their characters by using an, albeit illegal, glitch ? I just do not get it and am curious about what point I am missing out on in all of this.
I am just a lowly PvE guy so maybe I don't understand some sort of TW or PvP unbalance being created or some such thing but, from a PvE standpoint, I can honestly say I am not really impacted (that I am aware of) by what people do to fast level their characters. I actually laugh that they do it so fast that they are almost constantly throwing even MORE $$ at this game and company than they already vampirically suck from us already just to get the "good armor" from Nirvy or wherever you kids get it nowadays.
So please, explain to me why all the bashing, anger, and crying about this issue.
Sincerely,
Curious Old Man

While it does pose an advantage to characters such as seekers and sins, I think overall the large issue everyone has with it is more of the company ethics part of it. The company basically let a huge episode of leveling glitching go on for almost a year, all the while stating that the rule-breakers will be reprimanded. 8 months after the fact, we get a statement saying, "Nevermind, they're home-free."
While it does offer is slight advantage in-game what with stealth detection, attack/defense reduction, and stat points, generally the huge backlash is due to the company ripping its own Terms of Service into pieces. I can only imagine what's next in regards to people exploiting further glitches with the mindset that no punishment will arise from it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

105 sins can only be seen by other 105s. As only people who glitch are mostly 105.. The chances of being caught off guard by a 105 sin because they have that ONE-TWO level advantage of you is ridiculous.
Most of the 105 classes are in the same powerhouse factions(usually the ones that own lots of land).
Thats what most of the ruckus is about PvP wise.~They call me DP b:victory

The big deal is that the management said it was bannable, so a lot of people didn't do it. Then it turned out they weren't going to ban anyone permanently, so they're just kicking themselves for not doing it.
However they gotta find a scapegoat for their rage, so if they are not spewing the flames at management, they are angry at the kids who went ahead and did the glitch.
As for impact, seriously most of the negative effects of the glitch are not unique, because a lot of the problems associated with the glitch have been as a result of hyper FCC anyway. The only thing unique to the FCC glitching is that a lower level is at a disadvantage against a lv 105 if stealth is involved.
It was probably the most popular PvE endgame activity for a long time. Instead of AFKing, players were doing this and spending time actively in game, and that's a healthy thing as far as the game is concerned. They should just make a new instance that features the glitch, but restrict the levels to 101 and above so we don't get too many power leveled noobs.
Also limit how many mobs could spew out...so people don't crash and complain. Lol.Elena Costel: I wash my hands of this affair.
Legerity: *drags you back* *stains your hands with said affair*
Elena Costel: Noooo... I don't want to have a dirty affair with Lady Legerity...

The big deal is that it isn't fair to the community. Why level and play the game when people are just dumping their cash into the game to do what you're doing in 1/1000 the time? It's pointless.1 Corinthians 13:4-130

The answer to your question is "Wizards First Rule". For those not familiar with that book, the Wizards First Rule is that people are stupid.
How does that fact that some people glitched their way to 105 effect you as you grind dq items or dig herbs? It doesn't.
Power levelling by ppl can effect you if you squad with power levellers who don't know what to do and it impacts on the success of the squad. But not all power levellers are poor players and not all slow levellers are good players.
As for the way that PWE handled the situation, well who gives TOS anyway?
Give to see an old guy in the game.
Cheers,

If you're into PVE only... don't worry about it. Others glitching to 105 doesn't affect you in the slightest.
For those whose main entertainment in the game is PVP however... its a different story all together.
1.) 105s have a damage increase/damage reduction advantage over the typical lvl 101/102s.
2.) After level 100, genies are guaranteed an affinity point for every subsequent level hence 105s can have more skill combinations on their genies than anybody else... a HUGE advantage in PVP.
3.) For those Seekers and Mystics that didn't goon glitch, one of their new descent expansion skills (the one that allows them to detect stealthed Sins on their own level) has essentially become useless against a large block of PVPing Sins.
4.) 105 sins are now essentially playing in God mode... unseen by any other Sins.
Well sure you can argue that all the other players need to do is get their own toons up to level 105 too (we know it can be done)... and problem solved.
Pity it will take us close to a year to do it though... unlike the couple of weeks it took the goon glitchers to get there. b:lipcurl0 -

1) From what i know there is no reduction/increase damage between 103 and 105. But 103 itself takes a while too.
2) Absolutely agree about genies. lvl105 one can get quite different and much more powerful skills combinations. For me its the only real reason to aim for max lvl if you are not a sin.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

And you just summed it up beautifully. b:kiss[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Thanks for the answers, I really do appreciate them.
As for this company, I will agree that it doles out more than its fair share of frustration to its players from its failure (or utter snails pace) at fixing bugs and glitches to selling power for $$ to so many other things. For many of these reasons, I took almost a year and a half off and only recently came back only to have 1 of my accounts ****. Please do not get me started on the utter geniuses in charge of tickets. They put the "special" into "special ed".
I wish you all the best and hope this game and their devs do something to make this game better for all before, well, that "other" game comes out. I did not play part 1 of it but this one looks VERY interesting in video although, admittedly, the final product could feel nothing like what we see in the videos.
Thanks again,

how does it effect?
didn't notice all the lvl 100 alts running around, specially sins after that = more ppl soloing NV, HH -> economy reasons?
same goes for casters but to lesser extent in PvE
but GREAT amount of psys plvld at that time to faceroll kboard in TW
didn't notice all the lvl 105s nubs that don't know there are 4 FB bosses in 79 cave?
the genie skills?
the 105 sins and seekers in PvP?
the damage reduction?
really no reasons at all......
and to that add how the company handled it b:shutupb:bye0 -

Well, I have only been around PWI for about 2.5 years (maybe a little more) and can only count a few instances of this company doing anything positive for the gamers. You must remember, it is a Chinese company. (Oh man, opening myself for some hate mail and flames there)
IMHO, nobody is happier to ship out tons of substandard, lead based cheap **** than China so just be glad you do not have to come in physical contact with it. I can only imagine !!
In all seriousness though, while ALL companies are about the bottom line and making all the $$ they can, PWI is one of the few that revels in shoving the point in your face and almost laughing at you all the while.

Hi,
I agree with all the QQ about the company and their lack of enforcement of their ToS...but to get back to the OP's question...
What it effects is the way the community interact with each other.
People are no longer helping each other to do quests, making friends, chatting and having fun. Instead they are just trying to lvl as fast as possible and spending all their time in FF. The normal questing areas are pretty empty.
It also leads to begging...I remember an old MMO I played where if you were high level a load of lowbies would follow you around asking for "plvl me", "coin please" etc etc. It's kinda getting like that in PWI too.
I dunno, but for me powerleveling just creates a negative anti-social atmosphere in a game.
For me an MMO is at its most awesome when you are with a group of friends in an instance or doing a quest that is actually a challenge or something new, you chat and have fun and it really feels like an achievement when you finish it together. This could not be more opposite to the experience you get in a powerleveled FF run.
Anyways, just my two cents (well pennies actually)...0 -

Yeah don't remind me... Next MMO I get into, I'll make sure to ask it's community if the game is Pay To Win, or if the developers actually give a **** about tweaking their game, instead of just always adding content.
- That has always been a thorn in my side, when companies only add content instead of fixing the original content. You can dress a donkey in a nice suit, but it's still just an ***!
oh and in an earlier post of yours, I thought you were going to say Diablo III b:cute
