Is channel speed really that important?

Better than most. Alot of people carry two sets and tend to leave on their - channeling out of laziness and then rage when they're killed "I should have had my pdef ornies on!!!"

lol happens. happened to me before. derp move. no reason to ragequit its their own fault.
personally, i found it eventually not too hard to remember to switch back. ur hp should be very different, and when u cast a spell, if u got enough channeling difference, you should definitely notice it. switch it back in time before twilight emperor 3-3 kills you...the loser fail nab cleric from dreamweaver who quit pwi, but still wanders the forums.0 -
Had a friend I teased regularly about using -channeling ornies. Finally they got sick of dieing and switched to carrying and primarily using physical ornies (they didn't even notice a -channeling difference).
One day we were racing in the cube and she was ahead when I ported into the same room. This was room 42 or something and I thought I'd make her nervous by stunning her for 7.5 seconds so I ran up and Drake's Bashed, thinking she'd be stunned and sweating because as a cleric you can die in one stun length. She had 5.5k hp and I hit her for 8.8k or something and 1 shot. Felt bad about that but when I asked it was because she had her -channeling ornies on.Seven 100+ characters leveled the hard way. U know the butterflies at Dream Weaver's lake. With chan gears, resist, good genie, its possible to aoe nearly all the butterflies there.
What lvl was I? I don't remember exactly but from memory, by lvl 89 I had already gotten good at it but by lvl 90x it became easy at one stage untill genies got their first nerf and shortly after that rubberbanning started happening.
It's still possible with the glitch but harder because u have to stay alive longer. As for why I couldn't aoe the last few butterflies. Its because they were too far apart. The already agroed butterflies often reached and kill me too easily when I try to agroe the last few, which u have a limited time before u have to move to safety position to aoe them. This imo would isn't possible without chan gears.0 -

While the channeling gears can help in this scenario, it's not the channeling (on the necklace and belt) itself that really keeps you alive. If instead of -chan on the ornaments, you had +magic/+magic attack/+crit or other stats, that could increase your heal power and kill speed, making that extra IH pump almost negligible. When pulling poison mobs, it's faster wings that tend to make more of a difference than faster channel.
As much as I love channeling ornaments, the variety of heals and a solid purify make -chan ornaments far less of a necessity for clerics than it may be for others. Plus, survivability should never be sacrificed for extra channeling speed. A dead cleric doesn't use any -chan.0 -

Pdef and HP are more important please!
I'm so worried for squishy clerics with tons of -chan but low pdef!
The only thing that is a little slow is CHB. But even that doesn't take too long and you rarely use it.

I went back for a look, and remember few more details. By lvl 82 I was aoe-ing quite alot possibly most or even nearly all already. I remembered that because I remember chatting with a friend about how I was getting more reps from doing General Tuyans one man army quest then fb runs which was available for lvl 81-82 or something like that (not 100% sure). I also remember mentioning about how much the repair bills were which if i'm not mistaken, were 57k/hr at the time/lvl, which was alot then. I was getting more there then TT runs too, so I bought all my 90s TT mats. By lvl 93 or 94 I was aoe-ing 15 ot 20 spiders which the spiders aren't white yet as they are lvl 96.
Anyway, getting back to responding to your post. Firstly, the butterflies does full damage with high attack rate unlike the spiders that stack and delay their damage. What that means is, once the 15 or so butterflies reach you, you don't have much time to stay alive as theres no 80s gears at the time that can keep you alive. No amount of iron heart or ornament refine can withstand the combine damage of those butterflies. You only have a small window of opportunity to either kill them or get killed. You can't purify as there is nothing to purify, and any mistakes pretty much result in death.
In this case, the -chan gears aren't just helpful, they are crucial in keeping you alive. When it comes to aoe, generally, more chan and more resist increase your ability to lure more mobs therefore increasing productiviy sort of.
Edit. remember chatting with guild member saying 14 spiders at lvl 93-4 on one hand but remember something about 15-20... don't really remember the correct number.0 -
I've found that channeling gear is very situational. If I'm in an instance where I know I'm going to be hit by aoes or have any chance where I can get attacked by a mob, I don't use channeling gear. However, I have found it to be useful for spamming ironheart on people, as well as buffing. Channeling gear is also pretty good for the cube, depending on the room.
Basically I would rather have high physical defense and possibly more magic attack power than channeling, unless the situation calls otherwise.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

The only time I switch to chan gear is 1) if theres a squad that honest to god needs SPAM heals or 2) I'm not taking damage, nobody else needs heals, and I'm free to DD for a bit.
Atm I'm only -20% chan and thats plenty fast enough. Can get up to -70% if I want, but there just isn't a reason to do it most of the time. Work on your defence more than chan. Most players don't need IH thrown at them 70% faster to survive in this game.
Edit: And it is also true that when you reach a certain chan amount it will mess up your macros.

TBH I prefer 4 stats for robes / necklaces / belts
#1 Channeling: Is a 100% must for me, it would make slow channeling skills more reliable like BPH, SOR, CRHB, BB and RB as well as RF, WT and tempest
#2 MP regen, is a must because when I am just healing in squads, it not only saves me money but it is less restrain.
#3 Physical defense: It is obviously it would help with plume shell and survive the boss's physical AOEs (including mobs)
#4 Evasion: Sure you could troll me with this, but getting interrupted sucks, seeing some misses when you are getting attacked physically neglect that problem, which also helps fix the arcane user's weakness.0 -

You laugh at #2? Most of the time clerics do not get hit, or even aggro. You get full MP regen not being in battle state, so that makes MP regen useful. Yes, I can use apoth for MP regen but in all honesty it adds up, I never run out of MP.
#4 I can see you laugh at it, sure you can get more p.def, but if your spells are getting canceled, (especially while in BB) then there could be trouble. That's why I am looking onto evasion (adding a lot of evasion). It is the last stat I would go for on a cleric as a top 4 stat.
BPH = Blessing of the pure hearted, the channeling is long but it heals a lot of HP instantly, yet slow channeling can help for when the tank comes in when pulling groups and it can give time for them to aggro everything without you risking to heal aggro. As well you can get up to 70% channeling as sage, making BPH channel 2.5-2.5*0.7 or you could do the maths this way more simple, 2.5*0.3 seconds making it 0.75 seconds of channeling so that takes 1.75 seconds to cast.
Also with BB / RB takes 5 seconds to channel, opening BB before pulls come in is a bad idea to begin with IMHO. Like someone pulling wurlord into BB range, clerics will get attacked when BB effects the target that pulls or did not hit at least 2-3 hits. I rather not stay in BB because of that. So 2.5 seconds of channeling is a big help there, even more with sage magic shell / demon spark.0 -

This isn't three years ago. Evasion isn't going to help. ijs.BPH = Blessing of the pure hearted, the channeling is long but it heals a lot of HP instantly, yet slow channeling can help for when the tank comes in when pulling groups and it can give time for them to aggro everything without you risking to heal aggro. Or you could just use some combo of IH/Wellspring/Stream like everyone else and do your job a lot more effectively than seriously using Purehearted.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I was a fun of +MP regen. I remember a hat from my fb69 with +4+4mp regen. sold it for enough coins to buy herbs for a year.
perhaps a cleric stays out of battle if the squad is really squishy but most of the time a cleric has all the time to attack+debuff.
arent most of the attacks that cancel BB magic anyway?
at 70% chan BotPH would take 1.75 sec and restore 665hp and 40%
stream of rej would restore 1230 plus 50% plus 1230 over 15sec and would also take 1.75 sec. but yeah, costs a bit more mana which appears to be an issue to youyou only purge once #yopo0
