HA Classes

Hi. I'm going back to PWI and I'm kind of leaning towards Archer but one thing keeps bugging me. How does the Archer stand against HA classes? It's no secret Archers are squishy and since HA classes have got tons of physical defense... Is Archer at really big disavantage against BM, Barb or Seeker?

I don't know if I should even bother to ask but how do the Archers stand against Sins?

We have metal skills we can use to cut into HA classes and as long as there's no sort of massive gear disadvantage an archer can generally hold their own.

As for assassins.... if it's 1v1 with equal skill and gear, you're screwed. If you have more skill/better gear/it's a mass PvP situation then your chances of surviving and/or actually killing the sin rise.

I love the archer, It's the only class that makes you actually feel like you're hunting your foes. Then again, I really don't do pvp, so I can't say how well archers do. However, archers are NOT squishy. That's a common misconception about the archer. But still, hp doesn't matter if enemies can't even touch you, right? An archer has many stun, slow, & knockback skills to keep enemies away. I would definitely go archer if I were you.

Oh geez o.o I must disagree. Archers are indeed squishy b:shocked
Buuuut if you learn where and when to use your skills, you will be just fine. For example, use winged shell when under attack, knockback when a mob gets too close, frost arrow to slow someone down, stunning blast to stun. Knowing when to do these things can help you take less damage. Potions also help too :3

Overall, archers are huge damage dealers. Just control your aggro when in a squad and you will be okay. In regards in dealing with HA classes, kite them. Slow them down whenever possible, use those metal skills, and get some distance between you and them!

Sins: b:cry b:cry b:cry They have stealth and really like to get up close. Plus they stun you while you try to run or when you loose arrows at a pitifully close range. Your best bet is to use a skill that gives you temporary immunity to damage. A genie works great here (absolute doman, expel). You also will have wings of grace, winged shell, and your spark for this. It will take practice, but you can do it!

-winged shell is a waste of chi (save it for something good like WoG)
-knockback arrow doesnt work in pvp
-frost arrow is a waste of chi (dont need it on mobs, all melee classes use sprints)
    -stunning blast doesn't stun
-the concept of controlling aggro has been long obsolete

Depends on which HA you're facing..

Barbarian; I usually try to purge if his HP is to high and then tick his charm before I ZTP kill with metal.

Seeker; Purge his def lvl then that person is a easy target.

BM in magic marrow; Aps to death, BM in phys marrow; metal to death.

All above takes a lot of kiting if its 1v1 and chi burning on their side, BM without chi is a useless BM, barb that cant reach you is a useless barb and seeker...is just useless overal.

    rofl

APSing might work if you're in TW and there's a barb you can't really touch with metal attacks, and you are 5.0 base with a +10 weapon.

Other than that, APS is useless.
    101 Sage Sin*/Archer
    100 Demon BM*/Barb
    96 Demon Cleric/Sage Seeker
    95 Demon Wiz/
    94 Sage Veno

And a handful of other alts, all 79 and under.

You don't really encounter "HA Classes" in PvE though.

Really? I assumed that mobs have the equivalent of HA, LA, and AA armors.

If somehow a barb is the last one standing during a push while we cleared everyone else out of base, I claw the barb to gain chi...it would probably be convenient if someone cast Seal of God on this barb so the whole faction can aps it for chi lol.

Just use a defense charm and keep your chi... its kinda redundant to have both imo.

What is say is true, but a low level archer will not be preoccupied with PvP. I was giving advice concerning survival in PvE. A low to mid level archer would have to use skills like knockback, frost, and winged shell to successfully quest and grind without taking too much damage. Next to the amount of damage one takes, chi isn't too significant. And I was referring to stunning shot (the archer skill), not stunning blast. I appreciate the criticism though, it's good to gain another perspective ^^

I use both of em, winged shell to start a 1v1 since I regain that chi pretty quickly anyway and then defensive charms throughout the rest of the fight.

Winged Shell would save you if it blocks a hit that would've been too fast for Wings of Grace to activate. Sometimes your def charm can be on cool down too. That's all really.

I wouldn't start with Winged Shell as anything could pop it and then it'd really be a waste...it's useful as a last-ditch defense against a single big hit. A lot of zerk crits can score 10k or more even through a def charm, so the extra defense of Shell is worth considering when you say...think an Arma is coming.

Oh I giggle when I see anything with Aps triple sparking on me - nothing like hitting roar on that and seeing ppl drop. Unless you got barb locked - fists are a good way to kill yourself. And even if you don't spark - 100% bramble hurts with decent base Aps.

Why would I spark...I'm trying to get chi...Also yes when 30+ people are walking out of base the barb would be stunned.

that's an awfully silly thing to say

winged shell, and that demon melee skill that gives a level 5 version of it, are such nice survival skills imo

can turn a 30k hit into 700 damage

I agree with Asty..winged shell is simply a waste of chi, you're better off saving chi for anti stun or anything else for that matter. If you cant equip a defense charm then walk away until you can, you're an archer..your advantage is range.
