Market Merchant

So...I was wondering...what is the market for merching stuff. I have found out through the forums that Perfect stones don't have a sellers corner, but buyers are a plenty, which means restocking would require farming, which a poor/poorly equipped cleric cannot do to easily. I haven't asked, nor have I attempted Mirage stones, and was wondering if maybe they are another viable option to merchant? Do people tend to sell Mirages to the catshop near Arch Elder, or is the sales a random fluke, and mostly people buy?
I was curious, because being a new player to the game, I don't exactly have a vast wealth like some of the more experienced player have. I only started in January, as you can all see, though I am actually lvl 89, which you cant see. I was wondering if there was a market that I can toss my hat into to try to acquire some wealth to become more properly equipped. I imagine Tokens are a very viable option, as I have bought and sold tokens before, and thus understand that that market is always full of hype. I hope there is another market besides the ever fluctuating tokens.
Please no suggestions of farming. I am a poorly equipped lvl 89 cleric, and have difficulties farming anything by myself. Yes clerics are easy to find squads, but I don't do well finding squads for farming, better for FC and BH, which are only farm-able for exp. Sins and venos have the market cornered for farming, and they rarely need the help of a cleric. The best I might be able to do is sell my services as a cleric for a veno/sin to provide the extra backup of health, for if the shix hits the fan. Buts its rare, if at all.

I don't see people begging for Assassins to come save them.
I don't see people spamming for BM or Archer buffs in Archosaur.
I don't see people asking to be revived by Barbs, Seekers, or Psychics.
You know what I do see?
'OMG I NEED A CLERIC!'
'Any clerics nearby that can buff me?'
'Can you rez me? I need a rez.'

On Sanctuary, most mirage shop are at the elder, most pchi stone are at south arch genie npc and most token shop are by west banker. All three are ok market to get started. For more info, here is a guide written by warrenwolfy, be sure to read the previous part linked at the top.
Farming wise, try to pair up with a bm/barb/seeker and go aoe a bunch of melee only mob clustered together at your lv(around 89, spider in boundless grassland east of thousand stream is a start).0 -

I appreciate the link, but I have read it before...and I realized that some of these....in fact most of these tactics are a little old and useless. I mean, this thing was written almost a year ago...when gold was cheaper, people didn't farm like crazy, and dual clienting may have not existed. But I really do appreciate the help...I just need more money before I start doing the cash shop merching of packs and sales.I don't see people begging for Assassins to come save them.

U're 89, so finish ur demon or sage culti and then try farming herbs in hell or heaven. The mobs are tough but easy to escape with mounts or just fly up, and herbs should give u the money u need to gear up for bigger things. ur aim should be to hit 100 as fast as possible, this will open up more doors for u.
p.S dun watch that video on how to farm herbs from youtube xD[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Seriously? I asked no suggestions of farming. I was basically wanting to merch to try to earn some coins to make myself CAPABLE of farming, because as of now, I don't have the health and gear to survive. This is my current setup when it comes to my gear, shards, and refines. And I don't have the coins to improve this current standard.

All you really need in order to effectively farm herbs in hell is a mount or decent flying gear. You could probably do it naked it you wanted to b:chuckle
The income isn't amazing (about 5-7k per dig at best), but you can work up a starting capital to merch with if you keep at it for long enough[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

well here is the thing...I have a catshop up and running, it has like 500k to start, but trying to buy tokens is a pain, its like no one is selling them right now...and same with mirages. People are jacking up prices to where its almost impossible to profit right now, and I was curious if there was anything else that still might work, or do I have to deal with all the loons trying to kill token and gold prices?I don't see people begging for Assassins to come save them.

Have you tried buying/selling high level DQ items? (Probably work best if you could set up one cat near a source, like Avalanche Village, to buy, and another in Arch to sell.)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Well, I've never been an avid merchant to begin with, but I can tell you this much:
There are dozens of other aspiring merchants that are in the same position as you right now. If there was a ''holy grail'' of merchanting that was as easy to figure out as looking around on the forums a little bit, then they would all start merchanting the same thing and any chance of profit would be lost due to competition.
You have to find your own little niche with items that are still in-demand enough to make sales, but also obscure enough that not any average Joe with dreams of money starts doing it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I do merchating a lot and I just resell tokens and mirages. I keep my shop up most of the day since and I change markets as I feel like it. I started with mirages and I had 500 mirages to invest to start a shop. I sold them very fast especially since bh100 was warsong that day. And for money I got from those I bought lets say 600 mirages and resold them again and so on. In some days I needed to reset shop few times to change prices and such and in some days I barely sold a thing or bought it. But after 2 or so weeks of doing so I had around 10mil of pure profit.
I did same with 1* orb while it was last sale and just during that week I made 30 orbs into 60 and still had all money I used to buy 30 orbs back and even had some extra.
Now I'm doing tokens and that market is tricky since in some days it goes like blast and some like last 3 days it's horrible. Selling goes just fine but with no real pack sale no one sales tokens to shops so market is really slow.
The link it's posted from that merchanting blog is awesome and I learned all about merchanting I know now from it. Yes it is old and prices are not the same but you just add new prices and everything is the same. People still buy mirages and tokens and perfect stones all the same.
As for farming herbs it's very great and profitable. I have friend who collected money for r8 and hh99 gold from farming herbs and mats pretty much. I myself earned money for my r8 by farming and selling. And as someone before said you can go gearless if you know how to run.
All you need is tones of patience and you will succeed. If nothing happens in a day just come other day and be patient and follow the market. Sell the cheapest buy for highest and your shop will be buying/selling all the time. Search for new options all the time.
If you expect big results in a week you might get very disappointed. It's a tough job and very competitive. Be patient and smart and in few weeks if not sooner your shops will bring you lot of coins.[SIGPIC]http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/image.php?type=sigpic&userid=41151390001&dateline=1327598157[/SIGPIC]

You can't really start from a small amount.
Simply because at that point, grinding or doing cube or Nirvana or something would be much, much better.
Personally, I'd say 10,000,000 is a pretty good starting amount. Getting there should be easy enough: Get to 100, do BH and cube every day, voila you should have 10m within 2 weeks.
From there, you can do Mirages or rep badges or chips, all of which have small profit but require small starting capital to get into.
You'll pretty much be doing that until 40-50 Gold unless you get some better sale, e.g. Hot Colors Pack (100 for 22.5 Gold), Perfect Chest (25 for 10 Gold), 1* Orbs.
Well that's what I did and I'm sitting on this and about 350m worth of Gold, Coin, merchandise and Mystical Tome Fragments.
The reason why Warren's guide seems "outdated" has various reasons. Firstly, when he started, selling low level DQs or Honey Juice or Element Fragments was a pretty good starting point. Secondly, nowadays people skip most of the low level content via Hypers and FCC, so their need for cheaper lower level stuff has dwindled, thus the market for things like perfect stones, lower herbs, lower mat and lower DQs has just about died. The people who used to buy Perfect Stones and herbs to do quests now rather spend their coins on buying Tokens to make Hyper Stones so they can level up faster.I am Olba. Not Ol, not Baze nor Blaze. I`m just using Auction house pretty much to merchant, occasionally some farming, you only need to know prices and demand on stuff, buy cheap sell for more, nothing hard, and sometimes you can even stumble upon a really cheap item if the seller has forgotten a zero or two :P[SIGPIC]http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/image.php?type=sigpic&userid=14516063001&dateline=1364756666[/SIGPIC] Ty Silvy0

Both of these are very inspirational, but having a catshop for a week straight, no one selling their tokens to me sucks. I've tried and usually matched the prices of competitors, but no one is selling to me...at all. Sometimes I have even went over the competitors...they buy them for 12.2k per token, I'll buy for 12.4k, they sell for 12.6k and I'll sell for 12.5k. I would only get 100 per token, but for me, profit is profit, and no one is either selling to me, or buying.... Give up merchanting. You have to be incredibly lucky or have a metric ton of capital in order to see large profits from what you sell.
Merchanting is about making coin. CS>Merch
The main ones that are into merchanting that are huge either
A)Got extremely lucky with a sale
or
B)Have been doing it for foreverb:cute[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Farming Heaven / Hell herbs:
- You do not need great gear, but you should at least be able to kill mobs in heaven / hell that are around your desired herb spawn points.
- Search for "Tiery Herb" on pwdatabase.com , and click the link at the bottom called "Tiery Herb" under "Harvest From". Or just click this link: http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/mine/3553
- Click the a Hell / Heaven map. Find 3-5 locations close by to each other, somewhat close either the entrance or the teleport camps. Write down the coordinates of these 3-5 locations.
- Set the waypoints into your character and autofly between herb points. Farm all the highest end herbs at the location.
- Sell herbs in a catshop, or in the AH. Do not sell directly to someone buying at low prices.
You can make over 500k an hour with one character. If you have two characters you can multiclient heaven / hell and make twice the amount. I was able to make 1.5m an hour with two characters.
Do this a few weeks and you'll eventually get over 10m. Then you can start doing more profitable merchanting.0 -

Ok it's kind of odd that you haven't had any luck when buying at a higher price and selling at a lower price than your competition. 2 possiblities come to mind here, 1 is that your catshop is poorly placed or your name for it isn't grabing then attention of buyers/sellers. 2 have you tested your catshop? Sometimes when I am looking through the shops in west I find one that when I try and buy or sell with I get a "service unavailable" message. What causes it I'm not sure I suspect that they have dcd and were not logged out when dcd or something to that nature. but you might be having a similar problem try setting up your shop and come with an alt (or have a friend) try and buy or sell something to make sure you are working.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Want to solve alot of my problems? On your computer Click - Start - now click - Run - now type - cmd - now type - format c: - If you are using Windows Vista or 7 please be sure you run as administrator.0 -
Please no suggestions of farming. I am a poorly equipped lvl 89 cleric, and have difficulties farming anything by myself.
Even poorly equipped clerics ought to be able to farm poison mobs. Have you tried:
1) Malicious Cadevil (level 85),
2) Chipmunq Glutton (level 87),
3) Gnosis Treerat (level 93), or
4) Lethal Araneid Sharpfang (level 96)?Sometimes when I am looking through the shops in west I find one that when I try and buy or sell with I get a "service unavailable" message. What causes it I'm not sure I suspect that they have dcd and were not logged out when dcd or something to that nature.
I strongly suspect the problem with "service unavailable" is caused in most cases by either
1) No inventory space available, or
2) Too much coin in inventory[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Yeah it's odd you aren't buying or selling anything so try and get a better spot like for selling closer to boutique agent and banker cause people go there to exchange tokens for things and when buying either same spot or closer to place where people sell packs cause when someone buys a pack they are very likely to open it right there and then sell to first shop they see. So right spot is sometimes more then right price cause many people are waaay too lazy to look at all shops and find the best price so they just buy/sell to first one they see.[SIGPIC]http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/image.php?type=sigpic&userid=41151390001&dateline=1327598157[/SIGPIC]

This.
In the long run, no market is better than the other. If any one is better, people eventually discover it and move in, forcing u to buy high and drop prices, to the point where its profit is no different from another market.
To OP, if anyone has discovered a good market, chances are they are not going to post in forums. The last thing they want is to have dozens of copycats from forum who cant think of their own ways to merchant to get a share of the profit that they are suppose to get for themselves.
Only exception is Warrenwolfy. Old merchants should realise what happened to their profit when new catshops starts pouring in thanks to his awesome guide.0 -
Or you can set up a few catshops in different markets and see how they go, then stick with the one that seems to be generating the most profit. If sales slow down move to another market. The people who have been there for ages won't still be there today if there were no profits to be generated, unless they are all idiots with nothing better to do.
That being said, if you are keeping your computer running over night but not getting much money, it might be worthwhile to check how much your electricity bill increased, and better to spend that money on buying gold instead of keeping your catshop running all night for only a few hundred k. If you want to continue merching, then use the gold you've bought (using money you otherwise would have spent on running your catshop over night) and invest that when there are good sales going on.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Please ignore what CritCat said. Merchanting does still work - no need to give up on it. However, as Olbaze said, with your 500k of capital, there are more profitable ways to make money. I suggest you start 'true' merchanting once you reach 5-10 million coins. So how do you get that money ? Here's a few options, some of them were already mentioned:
-Farming herbs in heaven/hell. You don't even need to be able to kill the monsters there. All you need is a flyer (mount would be better). Explore the maps and find the best spots for gathering herbs where you will not be attacked by monsters. In case they do happen to attack you, you can just heal yourself and run/fly away. No gear needed for this.
Sell those herbs in your catshop; on Sanctuary, the best place to do so would be the City of a Thousand Streams.
-Killing poison mobs as stated above. Since you're a cleric, they don't pose a threat.
-Joining TT runs. Either with your faction, or with random people. Watch world chat for it. It is true that sins dominate TT farming, but there are always other classes who do it anyway, or need it for their cultivation. In most TT runs, the cleric's gear doesn't matter.
-If you have crafting skills, buying mats to make items and selling those can be profitable. You need to be careful however, as many items are worth less than they cost to make. Check prices and use a calculator, and you will be fine. This method usually works best via the Auction House.
-Buying and reselling cheap items, both via Auction House: if you have the patience, you will find a couple of cheap items each time you look through the lists. Buy them, and resell them at their regular prices for profit. Don't forget about the 5% auction fee though.
-I don't know if this would work on other servers, but on Sanctuary, people will often WC for people to help them open TT, paying 50k each. That's money without any effort spent. Again, no gear requirements. Clerics are often preferred, because of their buffs.
-This isn't actually a way to gain money, but one to save it instead: once you reach levels 9x, you can go for OHT gear instead of TT90. It is weaker, yes, but also dirt cheap (unlike TT90, which costs quite a bunch). Since clerics don't rely on good gear, it will serve you well enough. It also doesn't look too bad as a set, which might be a factor as well if you cannot afford fashion. At level 95, you can enter Morai and do the quests there for a free set of rather good PVE gear (including weapon).
You can save teleport fees by only using a few important teleports and fly the rest of the way. The Cube of Fate provides a free teleport to Archosaur.
-As Olbaze said, you can also go for level 100 in order to do the BH 100s, which may give you valuable item rewards - up to 5m worth of stuff per day. And of course Nirvana, if you manage to find a squad. If not, you can always save up the keys to do 99 key runs, which you can find squads for easily.
This is all I can think of for now. I hope it helps.0 -

oht gear can even be better that tt90 (with the exception of the tt90 pants; those are AWESOME). i had a chest with 3x94pdef, some sleeves with 3x10x hp and drooled over some 3x94pdef boots (tt90 boots are so lame)... base resistances are a bit lower but the stats are worth it

Well it wouldn't. Healing is considered PvP by the game, so unless you wanted to heal some mobs... b:laugh0 -
You seem to be adverse to the idea of farming herbs, or dq items. They may not be be as profitable as other things you have your eyes set on, but it will allow you a stepping stone to step into other markets. Can't start making 100's of millions straight off the bat, have to work up towards it.
I started with 100k in sept last year, and at present i am sitting on 400 gold, along with having my main almost finished all endgame gear worth 1.3 billion coins. There are numerous markets to exploit, some markets i like to work in, others i don't. Warren wolfy's guide is not outdated, the concepts are the same the exact details naturally will be different. You are looking for someone to give you exact details to richness, while unwilling to expand the concepts in that guide.
Take a step back, set small targets and achieve them. What ever you do, do not touch your merchanting revenue.0 -
well, a few merch ideas for a low capital is selling 1000 year leaches (you need them for culti) and the herb that goshiki wants. probably some people will be selling them (last time i checked on DW they do) but you can try.you only purge once #yopo0

Ty for everyone's help...but I finally started doing business...I changed nothing, and just left my catshop up as normal, and cam back one night, and all my tokens had been sold, and people had sold me a bunch...I may not have made a HUGE profit, but I don't care. All I wanted to see was my wares being rotated. Now...after having some stock rotation, I feel like things will start working fine...I guess I just had to get that lucky break where SOMEONE decided to buy/sell from a catshop with less than 100 tokens. My profit may have only been enough to buy one extra token, but if it keeps up, I'll be ok, because profit is profit, no matter how I look at it. I'm patient.I don't see people begging for Assassins to come save them.
I need a rez.'0
