Hi, some people have told me to level my tailoring and weapon making skills (which I don't got yet) and I was also told that some get chara's just for a specific skill to level.
If you craft can you tell me why you chose the toons that you use,
any advise is appreciated.
Im at loose.

you need to just get the mats requaried for what item you want to make any taloir or blacksmith will tell you when you need for each item by clicking on it
then just gather what you need ...
also to lvl up each skill you need to make some of each lvl ... and for lvl 4,6, and 8 you need to do a quest to get the book's i hope that helps0 -
A little advice if i may... Try to get all chars you have all crafting skills, no matter what class. I have all manufacturing skills at least on lvl 3, only one of them has higher crafting skills sofar...
The reason all have it is simple: i need to be able to gather materials when questing. Not having a skill high enough could mean i can't gather materials in the area and i always want to be able to harvest whatever is around....
Why just one char that has higher skills? Well it's not that easy to get the required items the manu-skills need to level... The two star items the former poster is telling you about need low-droprate items that are very expensive or hard to come by. (rough fur, compound oil, etc) and when you finally do have the needed materials you will need to manufacture over and over to finally get the one you need...
In my opinion its not really important wich class you use when manufacturing. Good luck

It makes the most sense to level ALL your manufacturing skills on your "main" character. Your "main" character being the one that you plan on playing the most and will subsequently level the fastest and the highest. You can then just use that one character to make any stuff you need for your alternative characters (alts).
The one exception is with apothecary which I like to level with ALL my characters just because it is very easy and cheap to level and I find it convenient to have but that is just my personal preference.
Keep in mind that you can always ask other players (ones that you trust) to make your stuff for you if you don't level your manufacturing. However, I would recommend that you do your best to level all your manufacturing skills on at least one character as you progress in the game so that you do not have to rely on other players for this service.

Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are trying to say, but the level of your manufacturing skill on a character does not affect what mats that character can farm. My alts have no problem farming mats for my main to use in manufcturing. As far as I am aware, manufacturing level only affects what level of items you can create or decompose.0 -

But your main level does --- not just because you have to be able to actually reach the mines without getting killed, but the gathering itself is also level-gated.
I've given up crafting somewhere along the way, mostly because the droprates for the monster-drop materials are so bad (they have packs in the cash shop, so guess why the droprates are so bad!), and levelling requires a lot of luck to get the required result before the material pile is gone. Alchemy would still work, I suppose, because potions and powders don't need monster drops --- but from what I hear, there ARE higher level mines than the ones I kept farming, locked away in maps I can't reach as they are gated by bosskilling quests.
But yes, levelling all jobs on one char should be possible. From what I've seen, gold and spirit costs for the job skills are comparatively low --- nowhere near the insane prices for normal skills.Slow progress, game is getting way too grindy :-( Quests I still hope to be able to do some day: FB39, General Feng0 -

100% correct. If you plan on levelling crafting to 8 it will take 1000's of mats, keep that in mind. I just picked a char a long time ago and focused on only its crafting. To get level 8 I think you need to be level 99 so make sure you pick a main char for crafting that you are gunna stick with.
On the other hand, it would be much cheaper to just ask someone else to make stuff that you need.0 -
Generally, the only skill that is 100% worth leveling is Apothecary. Get it, use it constantly. You can gather the required herbs fairly easily while you quest/grind (only cost is a pickaxe, which costs a measly 2,000 coins), and the resulting potions can be lifesavers....literally. any herbs you don't want for your own potions can be sold to other players to fund your own ventures, and some pots sell to other players well as well (mostly later on, in the beginning youre basically making for personal use). Keep it for sure max for level on your main, and feel free to get it on alts as well.
The other manufacturing skills I would get ONLY on your main, or possibly not at all. The cost/time invested in these skill is immense, and, to be dead honest, the cost and effort of leveling those skills doesn't really pay off except in convinience. Many (read:most) players with higher level manufacturing skills will make any armor/weapon/ornament you desire for free as long as you supply all the needed materials, so learning them is unnessicary.
so, recap:
Apothecary ABSOLUTELY on primary char, and on any alt(s) you desire.
The rest: Meh in general. If you really want them, I recommend on your main only.Things said during a Twizted faction PK session:
Slayer_of_Souls: you guys are such suck ups. none of you have attacked twid.
Twiddzly(fac leader): no, sere killed me already.
Slayer_of_Souls: he's out there waiting for us, isn't he. i'm gonna die.
Sereneai: b:sin why don't you come find out.
Kinglkaruga: you go first dule.0 -
I might leave my crafting skills at level 3, as it does seem to take a lot of time and materials to level them up. I would agree that Apothecary is extremely useful."Once, people only flew in their dreams. Now, they dream during their flights." - Howard Hendrix0

I stand corrected...0 -
apothecary is pretty cheap to level up and used quite often; way more often that the other crafts. it's the only skill i leveled up since I dont feel like bugging friends every now and then to make me apo xd
the rest of my crafting skills are 1 (or even 0 for some alts) and they will stay at that lvl unless I manage to bind some gear that I will want to nirvy/second cast. but i dont see that happening xd
I mostly buy gear already made (usually getting sharded+refined+made gear is cheaper thatn making it all from scratch) or ask friends to make it for me.you only purge once #yopo0
