1. Will I ever regret buying it?
2. How long will this game (PWI) run? Because i'm worried that when I spend money on this game....after maybe 1 year or so, Perfect World company just decides to stop the game. So goodbye $$$ goodbye PW...
I'm just really paranoid about this because I played an mmorpg before that just suddenly stopped running a month later, after I spent $(money).

PWI can disappear tomorrow, so it's up to you. You will instantly regret buying a herc as it's purpose isn't what it used to be. It at most will make your solo game-play a bit easier but once you hit level 60+ or so when you start having to do everything mostly squad oriented you'll find that it was a waste of money and you could've just tamed a crystaline magmite instead.0

Dont buy a Herc!, it might be the Best PVE pet But Forget it.... i warn you.... you will Regret it... b:sweat

Phoenix is for PVP/TW. You can't use it in instances which is the majority of your game-play at higher levels.
But since you ARE on a PK server as a veno you would want a phoenix for PK and anything PVP related.0 -

That's mainly a PvP pet, but it has its uses for PvE. However, you can't use it in dungeons, so that's bad.

oh okay. So my question for number 1 has been answered. Thanks guys, but what about question #2. Some people say this game is dying and that it is doing all these sales to get all the money they can before they close down. (so game is closing down soon? I really hope not. Because I want to be able to play this game for maybe 3 or 4 years after I spend real $. )

Ive been playing for over a year, and then people said the game was dead. Others killed it after Descent expansion.
The thing is, the game is going to die someday, we just dont know when so, you may regret spending money if it die in a year, or not spending it if the game last several years more. It's up to you.
I'll spend a little if I could. Why dont they sell prepaid card in my country!!! b:angry0 -

People have been saying that for years and they just added 2 new servers. I personally don't think this game will last 4 more years. But to be honest, who knows? It's hard to tell for sure. It will close when it closes. Instead of seeing games as investments, see them as what they are. Temporary entertainment. If you're enjoyment of it is enough to make good memories while it lasts without causing you any kind of lasting financial (or emotional) difficulty, than it was worth it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Whoever says "the game is dying" is obviously a troll... That's real bunch of bull **** and most likely they are spending tons of money in secrecy... And I do not seeing PWI closing down anytime soon. That's because people are buying packs like nobody's business (not even thousands, HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS) and they get bad luck and blame the game (in other words QQ about the game is dead) for their addiction to gambling... It's their own fault for not doing the maths. I am sure that you are a new player and do not know about these anniversary packs, tiger packs, etc...
And getting a nix for PVP... meh.... You really want to spend almost $200 ON A PET where you could just refine your gears to +5 or better instead? IMHO, the skill set on nix is a bit useless for PVP because that same amount of money you spend on a pet could be better off with refining gear because those pets turn easy to kill... I suggest you tame a scorpion for PVP levels 2-90 and teach it bleed and whatever debuff (magic or physical you use) that will help you do more damage...WTB PWI 2008 where people were thinking more about doing good rather than pretending to be.0 -
Okay thanks guys. My questions has been answered and I feel much better now.
I will buy my first zen on Friday (4-13-2012). And I will be getting a Hercules because I can't really PVP, never been good at it even on other MMORPG games.

If you dont get a nix you can tame a petite sawfly and make her learn flesh realm (not sure its the good name but for the skill making bleed) its not as good as the nix but i heard it make the job and its way cheaper than a nix. b:pleased[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Heee i dunno for land i had my hercule pretty much long time ago (before sin and psy even exist) but i heard beside herc the armored bear was the best, but now apparantly the new pet in morai is the better.

I bought a Nix, and quit my Veno the next day.
Not because I bought it, but... Because I had other Horcruxes, er, characters to play, and found them more fun/versatile/desired in squads.
On the flip side, I'm starting to get more interest in my Veno, I've upgraded a few pets lately (mostly skill stuff), as well as picked up a few new pets (ranged pet was epic lols in TW, even though it was level 23).

I had the same ''problem'' i got my herc and nix and stopped play venomancer, i almost dont play it anymore, i kinda regret got both but maybe one day ill lvl my veno and pay it again.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I think the fact that I was level 81 and now had a level 1 pet to level all the way to my own level made things more... Easily decided in favor of retiring my Veno.

Yup i agree with both of you my veno is lvl 93 now (i lvl her with orb from bh i put on account stash xD i lvled her normally to lvl 90 though) my nix is lvl 80, and every 4 months when i think to lvl it i go to riges kill 3 mobs and got bored so log off, my herc is 92 cause i got before my nix.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I play my herc veno daily and I play solo a lot. Veno is 101, herc is 100 - nearly 101 to here's my 2 cents worth:
1 - I would suggest levelling your veno up to about 70 before buying a herc - levelling a herc is quick and easy because of its 'reflect' skill so dont sweat the level difference. I bought my herc for real money becauce the option back then was to come up with 200million in coins - which seemed insurmountable. When you are that level, by then you will know if you want to use your veno a lot.
Whether or not you play veno depends on your play style. Venos have lots of use in squads but the reason for the herc is solo play. Having said that, when I do some bh 100 they still ask my to lure certain things and I use the herc. If my only use at 100 was luring things, I would get by without a herc easilty enough. Generally there is nothing in squads that I need a herc for, that I couldnt use something else.
If you wanna pk go for Nix. In TW I dont think it matters as the proper DD'ers will make any Nix damage obsolete. Generally you need many-many millions of coins worth of gear to be good at pking and to be really effective in TW, so again, the pet you have is obsolete.
If you want to be more squad use, roll a Mystic and get good at that.
2 - As posted above. Very hard to say. Expansions do come out, so PWI is still maintaining this game. There are some new games due for release this year that are a concern. There is still a lot of money going into this game as the pack sales prove, but there is appears to be a dwindling player base, especially of new players. There is a high probability that persons you see running around at your level are alts with high level mains.
I would suggest dont stick with one char, you are allowed to multi-client so you can play two chars at once. Mix it up and see what you like.
If you absolutely want a herc, now is the time to get one. Because of recent pack sales Ive seen them advertised here on HL between 80mill and 140mill, so if you are in the right place at the right time you might get a real bargain.0 -

Honey, this. I am a veno, been once since Oct of 2008, and I have both the Herc[99] and the Nix [100]. I can honestly admit that since the EG release, I have had more fun on my mystic, pets and all, than with my veno in the years that I've played her. If you don't care about PvP or solo'ing things, do NOT waste your money trying to get a herc; it will not make playing a veno better for you. Roll a mystic and develop your skill with her. You will be a lot more useful in squad play and become purely valuable in many, many squads. Invest that 200 or so dollars into a mystic. It'll give you decent gears, your pets level WITH you, and you'll be a jack of all trades in the right situation.0 -
when i first started you could'nt just buy herc/nix i grinded & worked over a year my cuz too, when sof & nix feathers were around 9k a piece. 2 yrs later u can just buy them lol but get herc first u can use him in caves not many air quest but nix is bad **** otherwise, i wish could use it in caves. hell its a fight pet so i dont understand why u cant0
