There are a couple of threads on this already.....

Basically the installer sucks. They built the download like it was designed to be loaded onto a DVD. Because of this, the installer looks at autorun.ini when it gets done to start the installer.
Truly, it should look to Install.exe and run that. It's even more appalling that PWE hasn't fixed this issue in their installer.

    So to fix the issue....
    1. Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (Or Programs and Features, depending on what version of Windows you have), and un-install the Pando Media Booster.
    2. Reboot your computer.
    3. Open your user folder
    4. Open the Downloads folder. (Location varies depending on what OS you're using, but you didn't tell me what that is so I can't help you there.)
    5. Open the folder where it downloaded the PWI install files to. (Not sure on the exact name of the Decent folder, (it is in the forum if you bothered to look though), but Rising Tide was "PWIRisingTide_v402".)
    6. Temporarily disable the active or real-time scan for your antivirus software.
    7. Click that file and it runs the install. (If you're using Vista or Newer, Right-Click the file and select "Run as Administrator")
    8.
    9. Re-enable the active scan for your anti-virus software.
    10. Add the directory that the client installed to to your antivirus software's exceptions list for active scans and scheduled scans.
    11. Reboot
    12. Enjoy.

Yes it's a lot of steps. Yes, it's a lot of work and requires some patience.
It will save you a hell of a lot of headaches if you do it that way though. It also solves about 60% of the issues people post about here.

Hi, I'm running Windows 7-64 Bit on 2 systems. Previously was a thing about DirectX 9.0c. You'll get this as well. Here's what ya do, from Step 1. NON-Torrent Users... USE "Direct-Download". PWI Uses *Pando-Media-Player* as their DownLoad Manager.
    1) Once the Pando-Media file is downloaded to your system, Execute it Normally (NOT Adminstrator Mode).
    2) Allow the download to complete.
    3) A "NotePad" window opens, revealing the "autorun.inf" file, normally the MSI (MicroSoft Installer) will execute this file and begin the game installation. In Windows 7, it dosen't happen. Close the notepad.
    4) Goto the folder where the Pando D/L manager is ("PWI_v621Installer" folder) and look for the file "install.exe". Double-Click the file and the game installation will begin.
    5) After the install completes, start the game.
    6) If some of the DirectX components are not on your system, you'll be prompted to install them. Accept the install since DirectX will not allow them to be added if they're already existing.
    7) Now you should be all set. Start the game and follow the Game Update procedure as you normally do. Your installation and game update should now be fully complete and ready to play:)

I also got the folder with the notepad stating the same thing, i was going to try what you guys said, but then I saw that this was for people who fully DL the game. My problem is that it always freezes DL at about 38% or so...EVERYtime? I have checked forums google etc. IDK what to do. I dont really know anything about computers but my firewall isnt blocking it i checked all that, plus ya know it DL to at least 38% I keep going to the website to restart the DL so it will resume but after the first 3x it stopped working all together. I am confused, this is a new computer only a month old and granted I am only working with 3 megs of inet speed but still its been at 38% for 3 hours now. any help??????

If you do what I said with the antivirus, it should fix that issue.

    "SEARCH FUNCTION FOR THE WIN!!!!
    LEARN TO USE IT PEOPLE."

...and that is how I found this thread to begin with...

I, too, am disappointed that I now have to run a gamut of steps to try to get into this purportedly "marvelous" game.

And yes, I understand your cynicism over this. I just take a bit of exception to something that makes me feel like doing what I did (using the "search" function to find an answer) is looked down upon.

Just for the record, this is the first post I ran across dealing with this exact issue.

And I do appreciate your work in outlining all the steps to fix what the developers should already have fixed. I wonder if they even read the forums....

    b:thanks

Yeah, one would think... except that the dev's are in China and could care less about our forums. Our devs have practically no control at all.

For example, the snowmen issue was 4 lines of code within the data file that pertained to that mob. Doesn't matter how simple the fix it, our Dev's can't touch the data on the servers to fix it.

The SP bug. It's two flags in the environment data file for that map. The fix takes 30 seconds and reloading that one map. Once again, our dev's can't touch the damn files to apply this stupid simple fix so we have to sit and suffer.
It's not so much that our dev's are utter noobs, it's more that they aren't allowed to actually do anything.
