questions i dont understand

1) why is it that you can't harvest items you need for skill lvls? example a lvl 21 trying to harvest carbon steal. if your skill level to use it has been acheived its only right you be able to harvestthe items needed to andvance the next skill lvl instead of having to buy from other players or borrow from faction members.
2)why is it occaisionally when i'm putzin around in secret passage or quingzi area i try to pot when i get low and i get teleported to temple... my pot hot key is on otherside of strip from pots. i didn't die cause i lost no experience and my health and mp are the same, just still low.
and 3) is the lag problem that has been steadily getting worse this last month going to be addressed? i've run my scans and checked all my processes for "overusage" to find nothing unusuaul. when i first came back to this game with this old computer, i never had to use the performance button in arch. then earlier this month or the end of last month, i can keep the default settings in the world but need to hit performance button in arch. a week or so after that i began to have to use the key in the smaller towns as well as out in the world where theres less congestion. now even with the performance key on all settings at their lowest setting i hesitate in game.
have you guys started to forget to clean out your ram buffers (not the right name for assigning temp storage in ram, but i forgot correct name) after you temporarily store stuff in em and then not clean it out? like i said i've checked my processes i've checked my programs and i even defragmented my comp though nothing has been added or removed since this program. i went so far as to check my fans to make sure i wasnt overheating. as far as i can tell the problem is not on my end. i only know in the end, that from what i understand from faction chats and party comments, i'm not the only one experiencing this problem. doent tell me u hired the techs from aeria games to maintain your servers and game... if ya did i'm so gone, i give a dang how much money i've spent.
no comments need to be made i'm just airing rytorical questions ( that is so spelled wrong)

1- you don't meet the level requirements. High Carbon is a level 3 so need to be level 40.
2- your hot key probably isn't linked to pot you think it is or you did die and pot activated after you died due to lag.
3-lag is probably due to your connection at some point.0 -

1) You can't learn higher level crafting till you get to higher levels anyways, so there is nothing wrong with not being able to mine the high level mats. Can get em after you level.
2) Lag. Or, did you accidentally walk into the portal?
3) The game has gotten more graphics-intensive since the latest major patch (which introduced the Morai lvl 95+ area). For example, you now need Direct X9. Its to be expected that on older computers, you'll need to use performance mode more often.
Hint: maybe time to upgrade computer?
And finally.

first things first the lvl 21 thing that was an example, i dont memorize the game. but i have maxed out lvl 3 apothacary and gotten lvl 3 skill opened on bs crafting and taylor BY LVL 18 making charms counts toward increasing apothacary skills boys and girls. my achievments list only goes back to 09 sorry i quit for a while to play another game.
i point out 1 inconsistancy... harvesting. because think about it, if manufacturing a certain item requires certain harvested materials, and you've acheived the SKILL LEVEL to make those certain things; you just cant harvest the materials to make them because of level requirements... thats inconsistant.
and 2 freakin rants that needed no comment...anything written in c to c++ begins to lag over time... its the nature of the programing for some reason (that is what is told to me by programmer friends) they say "in lay mans terms " that there are two reasons for this. the programmers make the program "top heavy" and unable to perform at original specs with updates, or the second reason they use the ram and caches and forget to write something in to clear them out when information of that nature isnt being processed any longer. i've ranted about this before, and programmers are quick to shut me down. my poor spelling of rytorical should have screamed RANT, even more so when its stated, no answers were needed but oh well.
oh yes, and before i forget. if i had died, hp and mp would be reset to "dead levels" (zero'd... whatever, how ever you think of the lowest points of mp and hp after respawning) requiring me to rest before doing ANYTHING. mp and hp were just LOW, same levels as when i went to hit the pot hotkey i just teleported to orchid temple instead of getting my hp restored. oh and 1 more important factor i didnt loose ANY xp.
i die all the time, cause i dont take the game as seriously as you do. i don't make excuses for dying (if someone asks i tell em i'm ****)i give a dam, it does not embarass me in the least to admit it. but sometimes, the way people word the unneeded comments they make, makes me think they feel it neccisary to talk down to me while they feel safe in the anonimity of the net. lets just say, i dont particularly care for that.
yes azzazin the computer is old, but still has plenty of leway before the game specs change so much to make this computer a net cruiser for ****. i built this computer 10 years ago using top of the line components... it has directx9. hell, my gaming computer thats down with a corrupted hard drive is using windows xp.. because noone writes gamecode with linux in mind and since windows sucks in any version i'll stay with the most stable of the versions that i'm aware of and not waste ram on my o.s.

You can't raise level 4 until you hit 50 anyway, and you will also notice that the item's level works in relation with the character level that is required for use. This is the same with all your gear. Next we'll hear people complaining that they can't wear R9 at level 21 even though they bought the rep for it.

This is what garbage collection if for, it gets rid of the overhead. The lag isn't on the server. It's either on your end because your system was outdated 5 years ago, or it's an issue with your internet connection, or it's an issue with the internet somewhere between you and the servers. (The last being the most common.)

Personally, I would just refer back to the lag. It looks like you're going to be hit with both graphical lag (low FPS) and with latency (internet lag) at the same time. It's largely because your system is extremely old and inefficient.

Top of the line 10 years ago still barely meets the minimum specifications. save $150 and get a computer made within the past couple of years and you'll be amazed. The most stable version of windows currently available is Win7 64-bit. You're keeping yourself in the dark ages purely out of ignorance or pure stubbornness. Also, there are some who write code with linux in mind. Hell, the client servers run on Linux boxes, and you can run the client on Linux if you want, it just takes a little tweaking. Linux isn't mainstream, which is the main issue. Windows is, so you go where the money is.
oh azzazin i wasn't next to a portal... it was just a question i DID NOT NEED ANSWERED
Common reasons that you can't connect to the servers, experience disconnects, or just have lag in general...
1. You don't have the three .exe files for the client set to run as administrator.
2. You don't have the game directory set as an exception in your security softwares.
3. Your network adapter driver is out of date and needs to be refreshed.
4. Your local area network settings are improperly configured.
5. You have more than one firewall and don't realize it.
6. Your firewall settings are too strict. (Very common with ZoneAlarm and Commodo firewall.)
7. Your router is configured improperly.
8. you have a bad network cable.
9. You're using a wireless network connection. (Which leads to another huge list.)
10. You have a lot of traffic on your local network that is bogging your router/modem down.
11. There's a fault in your router.
12. There's a fault in your modem.
13, You have a bad phone cord plugged into your modem.
14. There's an issue with your house wiring.
15. There's an issue with your outside wiring.
16. A squirrel chewed on your phone line at the pole and it's raining. (I've had this happen personally.)
17. A switch/router at the CO for your ISP is having an issue.
18. One of the many hubs between you and PWI is having an issue. (most common)
19. There is heavy sunspot activity. (has happened within the past two years)
20. There's a regional router outage. (Has happened several times, most recently just a couple of weeks ago.)
That's just a few. The more details you give, the better I can narrow it down and tell you what the issue is.

first, when i broke this computer out of storage when i found the hard drive in my gamer had corupted somehow during my last move. presently while some of my things are still in storage in another state i cannot find my driver disks.
this current computer had NO LAG when i came back to playing this game. while he raises some very good points about how to fix the problems i ranted about, more than the other couple idiots who felt it neccisary to flame. i ask 1 thing, why do i have to fix problems that shouldn't be occuring in the first place?
A PROBLEM BY COMPARISON, i place a raised extention on your home, by this i mean i add a room on stilts so to speak to your house. i spend a month and a half making your life miserable because you cant use the wall i'm attaching the extention too. you also cannot use any doors or windows that may be in the construction area during that time so your not allowing **** into your home. (ok now that we've covered the comparison to the inconveinience of an update though we know we needed it or we wouldnty have done it)
now lets see... ok i put the raised addition to your home on 4 stilts along the outside wall. (here is the problem) i just pour concrete into the holes around the supports instead of creating actual footings to more evenly disperse the weight of the room to keep them from sinking into the ground. a month and a half goes by i have finished addition and 2 days later u the home owner call me to fix cracks that are appearing in the seams of your drywall. i notice that the cracks are in the seams closest to the house do a cosmetic fix and walk away. only to return as per contract and fulfill my obligations to the homeowner. now the homeowner gets tired of calling the contracter back and calls a city engineer who can help him with his problem... city engineer says i cant do anything there seem to be no foundations or footings under this addition. they call the contractor who spouts that everything was done according to contract and they must hire a second contractor to come in and repair the home. this temporary contractor lost the bid on the home originally, and is feeling kinda put out he has to fix someone elses mistakes. he does everything he needs to to get the addition fixed... poors temporary slabs to act as footings for the supprot jacks for the addition. removes the narrow support beams holding up the addition. digs a trench to pour a foundation and set a footing that is wide enough to disperse the weight more evenly and hold the addition up more solid relevel the room restore the new thicker support beam and run a decorative support structure between the "stilts" to keep the unsupported areas from bowing since the supports are to far apart remove the jacks remove the temp slabs relandscape the torn up yard area and make a SMALLER profit than if they had hired you in the first place.
now this game in my computer used to work fine... not enough "noticable lag" for me to care. they come in make improvements to the game and problems begin to occur, now the variables on my end should still be the same unless they changed them with their additions. why would i do the work for free to fix it myself, when those people got paid to do it right the first time. i am not adding anything more to this computer to make it work propper for this game when all i need to do is save up money for another operationg system and hard drive while paying my bills.
lets see, xp pro, we'll go with that on the 64 bit scale again since that operating system only requires 128 meg of ram be reserved to it. much more efficiant, compared to the fact that neither 7 or vista operates propper without 2 gig of ram min. find myself another half terrabyte drive, max out my virtual mem to as big as i can get usually 8 to 10 gig. reinstall all my security programs, reconnect to the net, see what happens when i download`and run fine off of the default settings of the game. oh wait, i did that with this comp, and IN THE BEGINNING IT WAS FINE, just after the additions it screwed up.
my simple beef is this, get the people who are supposed to know their jobs to do it right the first time and noone has this trouble. because those problems between my server and the game, you dont think if they were there when game was installed? or ya think someone ran into a telephone pole between here and their, and they botched the repair? the firewall settings that i havent changed in my zone alarm firewall HAVE NOT CHANGED. only thing that i can think of that might have changed since i have yet too check, are those 3 .exe files and i wouldnt have changed them to begin with which mean the folks doing the updates changed the settings. my biggest pet peeve... even bigger than squeezing the toothpaste in the middle of the tube, are people who pretend to know what their doing that don't. making my life miserable by having to fix their mistakes making much less profit than it took the original "professionals" to make em. those are the only 3 i remember offhand at the moment but hey, i'll go back and see what got fudged off the list he gave me and go back to my life of fixin other peoples f uck ups which ina and of itself is annoying.
oh and silent thunder post step by steps and i'll ping it from here just to give u more info, cause i have no clue on how to ping i just know my hardware and what to do to negate software f ups0 -
