Does PvP really prepare you for TW?

I wish everyone to express their thoughts on the matter and no one to flame anyone for writing them. I want to get a true barometer of how much knowledge of PvP can actually help in TW.
My opinion is that it does not help, very much. I believe this because the whole point of the acts themselves are different. In PvP your intention is to kill or be killed and you will not stop until the other person is dead. In TW most the chars' goals are to do damage to as MANY parties as possible so those parties can be killed by others. For example venos run around in TW and purge as many ppl as possible, purge, move to next target, purge, move to next target etc...This is definitely NOT what they do in PvP. Unless, I guess they are in a large PvP group.
I am an avid reader, so I will read what you write and I will take everyone's ideas, thoughts and opinions into consideration. I hope we can open some mature, logical dialogue.
Thank you, in advance, for your posts.

i think the thing you learn in pvp is how to survive gangs and R9 and how to counter some nasty atacks(wiz, psy, sin).0
-
Yes it does. You learn combos, way to kill people, who to target, what skills to use, timing, predicting other classes/player's combos. TW is different to PK, but PK still help regardless.0

Well PK is mostly ruined by assassassassins. In TW assassassassins are a non-factor.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

unless they are full r9 JoSD 2spark>subsea>earthen>demolish everything because they are sage chill sins.
to the OP,
gotta agree with hurrdurr, pvp teaches you how to react when your attacked. It teaches you when you need to use which apoth to prolong your survival. TW isnt the place to be learning tactics/figuring out how to survive.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Depends on what class. For most ranged DD it most certain does help.
Melee classes...not so much. Even DD barbs and sins play somewhat differently in TW than in PK. You need to know when to move into enemy lines, and where to move in as opposed to just charging at your opponent like in PK.Elena Costel: I wash my hands of this affair.
Legerity: *drags you back* *stains your hands with said affair*
Elena Costel: Noooo... I don't want to have a dirty affair with Lady Legerity...

I appreciate everyone's responses here. AND I have been enlightened by your viewpoints. I see that constructive PK can be a catalyst for becoming a better warrior for TW.
One other question, Is PK allowed inside faction bases, anywhere?0 -

You cannot PK inside Faction Base. The closest thing you can get to faction PK uninterrupted is finding a nice quiet deserted spot.0 -
Yes and no.
It's important to understand the basics of combat, as in TW there WILL be that scenario where you end up facing off with an archer or whatever, and it's good for you to know how an archer typically reacts to your class.
However, a lot of TW is about doing what your class does best. A BM shouldn't be APSing, he needs to be stunning and amping. Venos need to stop saying "NU I CAN DD TOO!" and just use their supportive skills (purge, amp, pass sparks, bramble people, send your nix to **** face), cause they're more useful that way. There's also far more kiting involved in TW than there is in typical PK, imo.
So basically only expect to learn the basics in PK. PK you ask yourself "how can I kill this ****," TW you should ask yourself "how can I make myself most useful for my team?"I AGOREY0 -
EXCELLENT advice LongKnife!!! These are all VERY good comments and I appreciate all of you taking your time to answer my questions. Feel free to comment more!!
Also, wouldn't it be GREAT if we COULD PK inside the bases? It would be so much easier to organize constructive PK events for training and/or fun.
I wonder if it would be a suggestion that would draw any attention from the "powers that be" in PW? what you guys think, is it worth an e mail?
lol

well i think pvp will certainly hone your skilla
for tw that is amatter unto itself
it means working with others and seeing what it is your squad needs
for me i love TW and protecting all involved
but its a hard call when it comes to pvp usually it becomes singular you against them
it is whole differnt story when it comes to TW
example ....how can i assisit and what is my role ppl rely on your capabilites when you are in TW
