Rank 8 Weapon Choices

Apologies if this has already been touched on but eventually I will

Have a R8 BM and i know Nirvy claws are what you want eventually but

what do most BM's choose as there r8 weapon?

could you tell me and why. and also if that's your main weapon you use daily or

what you graduated to .
19k Hp and rising my goal is 20k unbuffed (would love 25k )

    If my BM was going for r8 being my main char, I'd pick the r8 axe.

    I got good lunar claws, I'd get a purge pole and sword... meh, any will do. And the axe has some sexy damage to it :p

    Not Recasting:
    Axe.

    Recast:

    If you're not going R9: Axe.

    If you're going R9, and are okay with your Nirvvy Fists/Claw:, Adv Purge Pole or Adv Purge Axe (if PW Database isnt lying about adv purge Axe...Im debating that to utilize in TW).

    If you want the best DPS possible with fists/claws: Fists (prep for lots of rerolls).

    axe is the best choice if ur not gonna r9 in the near future. They look horrible but the damage is awesome even without zerks. Erm dont get the axe if u already have the TT90 gold ones, rather get a pole to recast or fists to recast for awesome damage xD

    I say if you are going r9 I would get the recast sword since there really isn't much past the firelotus within decent adds.

    r9 axe, preferable lunar or vana claws (or fisticles), recast vana pole <3, r8 recast sword with decent adds def lvl if you are lucky!

    This is with a slight lean towards pvp obviously but this is my preference.

    I have the R8 axe and I love it. The damage is insanely high for axe, and the 4% crit is definitely noticeable. I also found it to be the most cost effective, the coin I spent getting to R8 is the same coin I would have spent getting to R9 anyway, whereas TT90 gold isn't resellable or used towards anything. I'm also going to recast it and try my luck for advanced purge, that would be pretty sick in TW.

    same coin getting to r8 as getting to r9?
    but um yeah get the r8 axe unless you have GXs or you are going for r9

    Tough enough question, really.

    I went rank 8 axe. Wasn't sure if R9 was ever going to be a realistic option for me and its only now starting to look like a "someday" weapon. Its great dph and kind of a beast of a weapon, really. Morai expansion offered an alternative, sort of. Used Calloused Lionhearts for pvp and farm G13s axes for pve. I have used these axes for over and year and didn't regret getting them until R8 recast was released. Still not sure I'd regret it for TWing if I got Spirit Blackhole (adv purge) on it and would swap it with R9 in PvP. That would eliminate the need for a purge pole, and allow you to use a zerk pole.

    Fists were also kind of a meh choice until recast... They had no -int so 3.33 was their cap with demon spark. But they have great dph so were a valid pvp option for a while. Now with recast they're a very good option for your r8 weapon because you can recast the plate and boots aiming for an additional -.1 to be 5 aps, and then get attack levels and other adds on your higher dph fists. Deadly.

    Sword. Meh. Other than the fact that there aren't many good sword alternative and the unrealistic 5 aps sword build of legend, there really isn't a reason to waste your 1 r8 weapon on sword.

    Pole. Unrecast its an excellent dph weapon for attacking flying mobs or kiting opponents, but you'd still want a purge pole also. Plus, the Lunaror Nirvana poles have SS on it so make it comprable to the dph of R8 pole. Recast: Two opinions here. GoF on a pole would be great when it procs on kiting arcanes. Great entry move. Great dph... But the purge is more valuable. Unless you have a purge axe. If you have a purge axe a GoF pole would be sick. You can't have both though because thats two R8s so it kind of means either go for R9 axes and R8 recast pole, or R8 recast purge axes and a GoF pole. Meh. Thinking while typing.

    ...Anyways. I'd say consider r8 recast options. Consider price of R9 axe. Consider R8 recast price (Damascenes are so rare, its painful). And consider how long it's really going to take you to get those.

    You need R8 before you can get R9 right? Therefore I've spent coin I would have used GETTING TO R9 anyway is my point.

    Man you guys are dense... Lets say I have 15k rep and buy TT90 gold axes. Cool beans. OK later on I buy 285k rep get R9 ring/axes w00t! But wait now I have these useless TT90 gold axes that can't be resold or used for anything...

    Scenario 2, I have 15k rep and I buy 185k rep, now I can get Rank 8 axe. Cool beans. Later on I buy 100k rep and get R9 ring/axes w00t! I just saved money, cuz the coin I used getting to 200k rep still would have had to be used to get to R9 ANYWAY.

    TT90 gold axes are just a stepping stone between Calamities and endgame axes. By your logic, getting any weapon 1-99 before your endgame weapon is pretty much a waste of coin.

    Anyways GX's cant be re sold, last time i checked neither can rank. But um GX's can be account stashed where as rank cant so technically they can be re used.

    I too have GX atm (really waste) and seeing on the type of gears people are wearing nowadays, GX is really not that sufficient enough either on PVP or TW.

    Since i'm almost done farming to get rank 8, i decided to get r8 axe. Eventually i will be getting R9 axe but not so soon and will recast the r8 axe to get advanced purge thereafter.

    So while i again farm for my r9 next time, i have a viable axe to use, r8 axe.

    Previously: Level 100 BM and I still enjoy farming to upgrade my gears b:victory

    Now: At 101 still continue farming b:shutup
