Pots/Class

Anyone know, which class uses the least amount of potions (& other mana/hp regain substances).
My mystic uses up 300 to 400 pots every week, if I play competitively.
Wondering if there is a class that doesn't need as much potions. (preferably a caster; I like magic class so out of Wizard and Physic)

I imagine the least pot intensive caster class to be a veno, but out of wizards and psychics I'd say wizards are more pot efficient than psychics from past experience, though I'm never endgamed a wizard so don't take my word for it
other caster classes: clerics are also pretty light on pots cuz, unlike the other magic classes, their main job is really to heal and not DD...though there's the occasional BB which eats quite a bit of mp
seeker (though not magic, they are a caster class): heavier on pots cuz they sometimes take on the role of a tank, also cuz of Vortex and their shallower mp pool compared to a real magic class
but really in summary, none of the magic classes are really that bad when it comes to pots
the one exception is the mystic, who, thanks to their summons, use the most mp pots out of all classes b:surrender tough luck that happens to be the class you play
don't think we went into hp pots in too much detail, but casters (with the exception of seeker) rarely tank, hp pots are really there to save your butt in an emergency
which is another reason why venos are more pot efficient, when played right you can get your pet to take the hits for you b:chuckle[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Duct tape is like The Force: bright on one side, dark on the other. It holds the world together, and, if not handled correctly, becomes a sticky mess.0 -
Venomancer is by far the best, at least at mid and low levels (haven't checked at high levels yet).
As stated above you can get your pet to do your tanking and attacks, so if you want, you can just toss in the occasional pet heal and let your pet do all the work. With a decent Mag stat (and possibly some MP recovery gear) your recovery should be high enough to refill your MP before you need to heal your pet again.
Better yet, at level 36 you will be able to get the three skills Metabolic Boost (which recovers 23-50% HP), Nature's Grace (which recovers 23-50% MP), and Soul Transfusion (which swaps your HP and MP for the cost of up to 1 spark). Using those three skills you can do the so-called "infinite mana trick".
Basically, you'll only be using up MP normally, and not your HP, so when your MP gets low you use Nature's Grace to recover your MP. However both Nature's Grace and Metabolic Boost have a 5 minute cooldown time. If Nature's Grace is still in cooldown and you need more MP, just use Soul Transfusion (1 min cooldown) to swap your MP and HP (which will normally refill your MP since you should be at full health) and then use Metabolic Boost to replace the HP you lost by swapping HP and MP. Unless you're using a ton of MP somehow, the cooldowns should be over just about when you need more MP or sooner.
Sage versions of Nature's Grace and Metabolic Boost give 60% recovery, while the Demon versions only have a 3.5 min cooldown time.
My veno rarely needs to use pots at all.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

As a venomancer, mobs drop potions; I sell potions to NPCs (or in a catshop if I can be bothered)
I use maybe a couple of potions a day; far fewer than I get from mob drops.0 -
i wouldnt say that psys eat way more mana than wizzies.
havent tried a mystic but most people say that they eat mana like crazy
when i leveleed my cleric i felt that i was using more mana pots since i wasnt hitting as hard as on psy/wiz and had to heal myself a bit.
some other tips:
1)mp regen apo is a bit cheaper than pots
2)take some breaks, go drink some water while ur char meditates
3)after lvl 75 mana pots will be cheap. really cheap.you only purge once #yopo0 -
Not interested in playing veno or cleric atm. Thought I should try melee class and made this warrior; hopefully, I don't have to constantly use hp pots to keep fighting.
Interesting, I never thought of seeker as a caster class.
Between psy and wiz, I do think psy needs more mana then wiz because psy is faster and uses up mana quicker.0 -
Depends on what you're doing.
If you kill mobs 1by1 and you got bloodpaint AND you can get more Hp back than what you lose then you don't need any pot at all.
If you AoE or spam skills no class its cheap, aside from Venomancer(Which isn't that good at AoEs like Wiz/Psy/Seeker/BMs).The only way to beat a troll is....to troll him back b:angry0 -
i say i say assassinFinally I have Ascended.0

I voted veno, because of reasons stated above. Plus they have a mana regain skill (not spam-able though, but it does help) and used properly with Soul Transfusion... you're set (although Soul Transfusion can get tricky to use right).
As far as the difference between a psy and a wiz, I'd go wiz.
I barely ever use pots. Wellspring Quaff not only increases your max mana, meaning you have more to start with, but it also means that 2spark / Sage / Demon Spark and Sutra regain more mp since it's based on percentage of total.
In BH, the time spent running from mob to mob is more then enough to regain what spark doesn't completely cover.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
