After reading a post today about an experience i got to thinking of something funny that
has happened to me in this game.
Share your strange moments since you started ( when you were new )
let me start: On my First FB ever. I was told that since high level people were going to run it for me
my job was to "tab" and any good drops ( that i had never seen before or understood)
were to go to them. so I went into my first FB and thought "this is awesome i was in a cave ( of sorts )
I had no idea that there was a "game within a game".
So basically it was a lvl 80 Archer and a lvl 60 Cleric, they ran my FB i tabbed and
i remember seeing a 3 star item drop that i ended up trading to them because
this was the rule for a higher player to run your FB. I heard the knock on the door
and added them to my friends list, was told when im 29 and above to PM them the'll run
my future FB's. I was grateful because up to this point i did everything alone.
funny part was they were never online so assumed they sent the buddy request to be nice.
My send favorite story that i tell from time to time was as follows, i had no idea what
packs really were, I opened one and got a perfect token of luck. I linked it in the noob
area (because i had just learned how to link) I got a PM from some one who
said the'll trade me that for some flash, flash was a must have
it was a groom suit and they tried to convince me that my perfect token of luck was not
worth much and it was a fair trade.
i ended up saving the token and when i finally Reached Arch i found there were some
willing buyers via cat shops sold it for what i thought was a fortune 4.900.000

You had some greedy help. Rule on Dreamweaver on just about every FB I ever did (my own, or helping) was "drops go to tabber"; what the hell good are level ~20 3 stars to a 60 or 80 anyway?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

When I first started playing I chose BM. I was in the noob area where you first spawn up and someone embraced me. Being new to the game I accepted. This person took me across the river and dropped me. I tried to leave the area and get back to where I was supposed to, but I could not teleport b/c I didn't have any money. I couldn't run because every time I got out of the sz the mobs killed me and when I released to go back to city I went back to the same one. I wanted to quit the game. I don't recall the name but whoever did this to me was real shady.
I logged on every little bit for 2 weeks trying to get som1 located in that town to give me money to teleport with or to carry me back out of there. Finally some nice veno ran me back to the river.
I still don't think its funny... its a dirty trick to play on new people. But it did separate the nice from the naughty.0 -

I remember when I first started. It was very freaking confusing to me. I didn't know what the hell was Heavy Armor and all the terms that people were using back in 09 (Started in May of that year) I kept putting strength, dex, hell all points into all of my stats. b:shockedb:laugh
Anyway, I (by some miracle) got myself to level 30ish. This was back on Dreamweaver. Some random BM send me a duel request and thinking that I would lose anyways, or he wanted to trade I accepted. This BM was lv.50, I was just 30...I beat him in the duel, with a freaking NPC Pole hammer and ****-o-wear NPC HA Gear LOL. After that, I headed over to SP, to do the lv.30ish quests. Back then, there were a LOT of venos. When they saw mine carrying the pole hammer, they were like "WTFZ CHU DOING BOSH, NUUUU" Oh yeah. And some cleric named BIG_BUTT carried me to Etherblade...b:shocked
That was Casty's beginning days in PWI back in 09...ohhh yeah baby! LOL >_>[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I have to say on a good note ( and this person is still on my Clerics friend list) i made it out to
Anglers Village from Plume, i beleve i decided to just "explore the coast" because i was
not yet acclimated to the game. so basically i was seen by a "high level (level 50) Archer who
basically walked me back to Arch and from there i was able to finish my starter quests.
Yes WALKED. we were both Male toons. :-)
so some good memory's of this game
This prompted me to occasionally go to the circle in Arch on my barb

no, that is not a nice thing to do to someone! but i had a somewhat similar situation, but in reverse. at that time,not long after the game started, i was still on LostCity, and grinding up on wolves near the Human FB cave, when i decided i would use the teleport skill to go back to Etherblade. so i did and.....wound up in the Harshlands!
i was only in my lv20s, i think, and totally stuck in the village i had landed in. just like you, if i tried to run toward the river, mobs would splatter me, and i would be right back in the village again. this was late at night, that i was playing,and in desperation, on local chat, i said 'Is there anyone out there who could help me out? im stuck in a snowed in village, and im too low level to get to the river. can someone help me?" in a minute or so, a player on the flaming blade appeared, and said "i saw your call for help...hop on, and i'll give you a ride out''.
i was SO appreciative! what made it so surprising was that it was a guy from RageQuit, which had the reputation at the time of PKing every veno and cleric they saw, or otherwise being as obnoxious as they could possibly be. i was amazed by a polite RQ player! he not only got me out of the Harshlands, but flew me all the way back to City of the Lost. my name there was FoxDancing, so, if that player is still here, thank you yet again for your kindness!FatalFem - Heavens Tear wrote: »When I first started playing I chose BM. When I first started as an Archer,I got stuck on the first semi-hard mini boss: The Barbarian mob outside west arch near the mines(36k Hp lv.32 or something).
I couldn't handle it myself so I stayed around the area for almost an hour asking for help,when finally someone helped me I was like"Damn I'll never forget what you've done for me thank you so much!".
Back then I tought killing some mini boss was huge deal to be grateful for the next 30 days to anyone who would help.

I remember on my first ever fb (on my first cleric, years ago), I got help from a group of really high levels (at the time I think anyone 90+ was rare) but all I remember was that there was a high level archer and another cleric .
I was complaining about how slow I was (no genies back then) and the archer used alacrity on me and sent me flying into some mobs.
They saved me of course, and we had a good laugh XD [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

So me and level 8 VENO in 2009, her attributes set up like so: 10 strength : 10 vit : 10 magic : 10 dex, well we decided to take a walk.
My young self at the time was more interested in the graphics than going and killing stuff so I walked. WALKED (didn't know of tele's) to farther north by a 10 minute walk of ether blade.
I REALLY wanted to see the snow. Surprisingly, my death toll wasn't bad till I walked to SANCTUARY and couldn't leave because of the stupid huggy hares that were everywhere.
And that's what started my eternal fear of huggy hares. b:shocked[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Me and my friend were both level 20-23 venos... We had the brilliant idea to tour some of the more interesting areas of the map... Ended up walking from Lost to 1K. We simply hopped, skipped and ran through Mordor. literally x.x Hopped over monsters, skipped up mountains in places we prolly shouldn't have been able to, and ran for our lives while our pets were meat shields when we got aggro >.>
But back to the huggy hares... IDK HOW it happened, but (still in my 20s) I ended up in Sanctuary... Was stuck there for at least 30 minutes trying to run back and get away from the Hares x.x Compared to Mordor it was easy though b:chuckle0 -

b:laugh When I first started in (2008), I decided too Open All the Maps (Port Sites) by flying My then early (20'ish Cleric) to all the towns... All while at 'high altitude' flight (I So Hated having to fly B4 Auto pilot, always having to check where you were... ~_~')
Well to Make a Long Story Short I (Pressed and Stopped) his 'Flight Mode' over {Cromag Village!} And forgot about the (Forward~Drift Factor) as your still falling forward, in post flight...b:chuckle
Needless to say, I overshot the village And got '1 SHOTTED' by the Desert Raider Mobs, and I was like.......

Pw was actually a game and not a bh/ff/nirv to make coins game.This game is like washing hair with shampoo... Rinse and repeat if desired.

I remember starting out back in 2008. Took me a few days to lvl cause I had no idea what all I was doing, and I remember on like the 2nd or 3rd day I had been farming herbs and stuff because I had just learned I could and had a catshop set up, and some high lvl came up and told me if I gave him everything in my shop and all my gear he would make it glow for me like his. As cool as it sounded I just told him no. mainly because it sounded to good to be true and I am glad because I know I would have got scammed.Scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitates lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock, and as it always has, rock crushes scissors.

Back in 2008, my very first toon was a venomancer, and back then I had never in my life played an MMORPG. So honestly I had noooo idea what I was doing. XD Thankfully I had my friend who introduced me to this game, she was a level 40-something veno. She helped me out and warned me about things etc etc. I remember I couldn't figure out for the life of me how to feed my pet lol! ah man.
Anyway, my FB19 was run by late 20s and some late 30s characters, so it was actually quite difficult for us lol. But it kept everything more interesting I thought. I too, statted my veno all funny because I remember picking up Heavy Armor from mobs, and thought that they must be meant for me to use. So I'd stat so that I could wear it. I remember my FB19 runners were all like "dude she's a HA veno!" I had no idea what that meant or why it was such a surprise.
And, on my second toon which was my cleric, I remember meeting some really nice people back when there were hoards of people running around the mines out west of Archosaur. I met some of my best PW friends back then, and I still keep in touch with all of them even though I'm the only one of our original group left on this game (more or less). People used to be very genuinely nice, and there still are those good people now of course. Just seems less so sometimes.
When I see people advertising needing a cleric and are willing to pay "200k" or something for one to come along on whatever it is they're doing, it just makes me sad that they'd have to go that far to get help. Makes me want to hop back on my retired cleric just to help them out and tell em to keep their money! [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Just yesterday, I made a dude cleric newb to fly my cat shop, then I made her walk to apotho in north barrier to check something. Surprisingly me and my 91HP didn't hit any mobs. But anyways, point of the story:

I remember my first char that I got to 19 was a BM (after I had failed horribly at an archer), statted to wear whatever I found. Her FB19 was run by some high lvls (probably lvl 40 - 50 or so) and when we got to the boss they told me to tab.
XD They said talk to the stone and it will give you the quest, and I was so confused because I couldn't talk to the stone, and they started accusing me of not having the tab and blah, blah, being generally rude. I was so embarrassed I just logged of then and there. Haha. I now realize I wasn't even trying to talk to the pillar, it was just a random stone that I thought they were talking about.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

When I started the game, on my barb, I finished the first "kill 10 mobs" quest, and had to go to the elder. Instead, I went exploring the world hacking into every mob I encoutered. I went north from City of the Lost, mobs became a bit more difficult over time. But I killed them wacking with my glaive b:laugh
Then I met a walking tree that 1-hit-killed me, and I was like "wtf just happened". I released and was stuck in Sirry Wine Camp. A place that was totally empty, because Sanctuary was just open a few weeks and nobody was in the 80s zone. I was stuck as lvl3~4 in an 80s area full of aggroing mobs. The teleporter didn't work, because none of the other points I could go to were activated yet. I spend a good 2h over 2 days to sneak past those mobs and get back to the untamed starter area.
I still wonder why I didn't just make a new toon b:laugh0 -
When I got a few levels in the elf starter area I thought I was high level. (It was my first mmorpg) So I flew off across the land to explore. I flew to the top of the cliff at The Hill of the Old King and was one shotted by a shrunchkin warrior. I released corpse into Arrow Head Manor and was trapped there by the mobs outside. I was very scared and excited. I started calling "help" "help" in local chat and a very kind, high level (60), wizard asked how I even managed to get there. He picked me up and flew me to the gates into the low level area and told me to stay behind them. His wife flew with us and I was amazed you could have a wife or husband. I was so naive that I thought Arrow Head Manor belonged to them and that they were the lord and lady of that place. Quite a while Later, when I leveled up, I went back there to seek them out and thank them. But they were nowhere to be seen b:sad.
When i used to go into an area and I saw the message "held by nefarious" or "held by legendary" I thought there would be members of these kingdoms watching me from clifftops. I thought nefarious was a league of evil sorcerers and legendary was a group of noble knights and ladys! I always wanted to join Legendary but I never managed to b:sad0 -

Kinda similar situation lolz.. my veno got quest to meet elders of Ether and Plume.. don't ask me why i didn't used teleport lolz.. so i moved my butt north from Lost, got killed by few poisoning flowers (i was highly surprised and pissed why green skull over my head don't wanna leave me b:embarrass was clicking hp pots like crazy but well...) and got stuck in Sirry for 1h.. As Empu said.. no people around.. only me lowbie/newbie veno and lots of aggroring mobs..
Or little more positive story.. lolz When I made veno.. snowmen (gms i hate u cause of last year..) was there in Lost.. I saw everybody was killing them so.. why not. Found some nice place and was killing them, took all drops and then started wondering wth i can do with 'em.. Mirages seams to be very pricy at npc so I sold 'em.. then i noticed someone on WC wanna buy Do all cards 90k or 100k for one. I pmed this guy but he wanted meet me in Archo. As 16lv veno I had no big clue wtf is "W-Archo".. but at last found it.. of course almost died cause of poison from Ghouls (again poison.. b:beatup )
My first "big money" lolz and my first meeting with cat shops.. I still remember this feeling of.. "wow this place is so.. huge and alive" Anyway my first 400k went into cat shop cause of.. mini skirt lolz..[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

We used to do that quite a bit, I farmed all the way to R7 in the FB_Help room, it was a second guild to me.
Back when I started, as this little wizard, first MMO ever, I thought it was going to be like Pokemon, if you manage to sneak enough attacks and slay a high level mob you get like 3 levels in a row xD
I was about level 8, went south, found an orange named spider and said, here we go!
Failed, horribly T.T
But I didn't give up, after a few tries I managed to cast a spell, run away for 3 minutes rinse and repeat, I felt so proud when I killed it!
But no power level, at least it dropped a DQ item, that back then, paid for my mana potions for a while.<"shameless self-bump

i remember when i got this archer to lv 19 and had to run my first FB in 2008, it was one of the most fun runs i have done in pwi because the squad was made of 4 archers and 2 clerics, all around lv 19-20. the fight against boss was epic because whoever had agro needed to keep kiting boss while the 2 clerics tried to heal, and the other 3 archers keepd DDing until another archer had agro, then that one had to kite. b:laugh
i think i learned 80% of how an archer is suposed to be played on that run0 -
A mean person told me that a cleric could only succeed if I pumped dex and vit. Lots into vit. And dex.
Naturally I died a lot. MA wasn't strong enough for fast kills, and couldn't heal myself either. The high health didn't help much.
So I rerolled, and stuck to pure mag. Got bored, rolled a veno, and learned about BH only at 40-something? This 80-something cleric and another BM took me to Qingzi (I think). I was like WHOA, they're 80!

This wasn't when I was new, I was just on a low-ish level alt.
My main(The 101 veno) is the leader of a guild, my alt cleric needed FB39. So I jumped in a squad with a guildie I didn't know well. She was also a cleric. So we go and do the FB, I tab, after the first boss a decent 3* dropped. My cleric's gear was pretty crappy, so I insisted that it be given to me. If I hadn't needed the gear, I would have just let whoever got it keep it.
So when I asked for the gear, the girl ignored me for like half the run. Didn't answer my PMs, or when she did she pretended she didn't know what I was talking about. I was pretty calm about it, I just figured it was her first character and she didn't know much about gear/FBs. Explained that there was a purple fonted gear that dropped and had three stars and that in an FB all special gear like that went to the tabber. She finally passed it to me, but for the rest of the run she was raging because I didn't let her keep it. Apparently she had been convinced by someone that any good gear, no matter if there were tabs, went to the highest level of that class. And because she had gotten ripped off she was mad I didn't let her keep my stuff.
Yeah. Right after that run she left my faction while throwing a tantrum. What's sad is that according to her, she was something like 65 years old. Just goes to show that age has nothing to do with maturity.
When I was a noob and knew nothing about the game I started on an assassin.(And royally wrecked her build. I put equal points into all the stats. Q_Q) I was below the level where you can tele to Archo, and I was bored with the TB area so I tried walking/Swimming there. Took me forever to get up to Dreamweaver then I just kept going north, skipping between monsters. Eventually I aggroed a range mob and got pwned. Ended up in that small village outside of Dreamweaver and it took me ages to find a way around the mobs surrounding the village without aggroing anything. x_x0 -
actually, the trick is jumping! my son and i both have jumped up the left side of the 1kStreams hill a number of times, just for the fun of it. im really lousy at jumping,(never could get to the chest on the gate of City of the lost or Etherblade-had to get one of my jumping bean kids to do it for me! ^_^), but its simple to get up to the top. just go along the left side, heading up toward the temple on that side,. you will slide now and then, but just keep looking for the good spots and up you go.
someone here mentioned flying around the map in her 20s, and getting one shot at Cromagnon- i started on Lost City (not knowing anything about PvP/PvE then), and my first character was a barb. i was poking around,and questing, and at one point decided to try out the teleport skill.... uh, bad idea. i dont know where i was at the time, but it sent me up to town of arrivals. and i couldnt figure out why the mobs had suddenly gotten so high level! i couldnt get out of the and got really despondent with the whole game. my son (LordDeerskin) asked if he could figure it out, got that barb back to where he belonged and started his own barb. so that account wound up his, and i started my own...and ever since PWE has been sending emails to the wrong people! ^_^EighthKnight - Sanctuary wrote: »Just yesterday, I made a dude cleric newb to fly my cat shop, then I made her walk to apotho in north barrier to check something. I thought nefarious was a league of evil sorcerers and legendary was a group of noble knights and ladys! I always wanted to join Legendary but I never managed to b:sad

thats to funny. n.n when i started my first toon,it was a cleric that i gave up on, i didnt know flying consumed mp.
so naturaly when i tried the archer out i thought nothing of hovering over a spot wile i went to grab a drink. i had flown directly over sword tamer and when my mp ran out it killed me when i landed. i came back and was dead like "wtf!"
as for the map thing, cala had the entire map except for lost all owned. i thought this was a system in the last mmo i played in witch someone could run for "lord of the server" basicly making you a GM without banning power. the server population had to vote you in and you had to pay a bunch of coin to run for it.
i thought here was basicly the same thing just with parts of the map insted of the whole server. i thought calamity was the name of a player and he owned almost everything. so i was grinding coin like mad and i asked the leader of the faction i joined "how much does it cost to run to be in charge of part of the map?" thats when i found out about TW and my hopes and dreams were shattered. lolWith the living avatars of friendship by your side and the orbital friendship cannon at your back, look the wraiths in there soulless eyes and ask them. "will you accept my friendship undead scum?"
