KONY 2012 - A campaign to save the children of Uganda!

This is something that everyone needs to be aware of. There is a guy named Joseph Kony and he has been creating an army of children in Uganda to use them for violence, slavery, ****...etc for more than 20 years and no one had an idea about this. I've only come across this when I saw my friends on my facebook sharing the video and I had to watch it because it was all over my news feed. This has been the most productive half-an-hour I've ever had in such a long time. Please do not be discouraged by the length of the video or the beginning of it. This is a video that you want to see and want everyone on your facebook, twitter, tumblr...etc whatever social network you use. Most important step is to raise awareness of this guy so people will be involved in the movement and the campaign to stop him. That's the least you can do to contribute to the world around you through your computer! Greatly appreciated.

    Wow it's fantastic that this sort of thing is getting attention finally. I know more than most about this because my mum is a specialist in modern slavery/ human trafficking etc. I was lucky enough to go to south Africa this past summer to see some of the terrible things that go on. I met a boy of about 18/19 who had been forced into being a child soldier. He was one of the 'lucky' ones though because he managed to escape... Only to have to hike the thousands of miles from Zimbabwe to South Africa to escape his tormentors. There really is some awful stuff happening around the subject, but it's not something that many people seem to know about. Even in this video, although i think what this person it doing is absolutely incredible there is a limit to the scope of the situation. There are hundreds of thousands of people being kidnapped, coerced or forced into slavery all around the world. I live in Austin, Texas and even here there is a ridiculously high number of people being forced into this. I passed a billboard only today of a girl who is believed to have been kidnapped and forced into sex trafficking. Human trafficking is a whole different subject which, if it's even possible, people know less about. I suppose my point is, that this is so much bigger than people know, even those who do know about it. After drugs and arms trafficking, human trafficking is the most profitable and widespread criminal activity. It would be fantastic if even some of the PWI community found out about this, as maybe they can help spread the word, so to speak. If any of you are interested in finding out more, about either of the aforementioned subjects I'd be happy to point you in the right direction, there's quite a lot you can do to help. Although to be honest one of the things most needed is simply awareness.

    After doing research, it's very safe to say this KONY propaganda is almost PHONY. It feeds off of bandwagon hoppers emotions and makes them cry for the blood of a warlock who left uganda 6 years ago. It fails to properly inform the audience of historical context and the current realities in northern uganda. To me, just a profiteering scheme really. So in a way, its almost irrelevant.

    If you are supporting this thru Invisible Children, read up on this and make sure you know everything, they are currently under scrutiny due to what they do with their donations.

    Bump cause I feel it's important that people know about this. Even if there are some shady dealings going on on the 'mother company' the important bit is that people find out about it. To the best of my knowledge, and I have done a lot of research on this, Invisible Children is a perfectly sound organization.
