Dragon Orb Sale Prices

Just wanted to throw up a poll. If PWE had put the orbs at the prices from this sale, would you have bought more orbs?

Personally, I was disappointed with the higher prices, and PWE won't be getting any money from me at all as a result.

I don't cash shop except the occassional 10 or 20 bucks every few months. However; I want to say something here in all fairness.

This is no different than what department stores do to consumers. Do you still buy Milk and bread? Of course you do.

    Let me explain:

Black Friday-Nearly every store in the United States has sales this day. Some of them are for a gigantic amount. Just because you can buy a Wii game for 10 bucks on this day, it doesn't deter you from later coming back to buy another Wii game for 30 or 40 dollars.

After Christmas Sales- Massive amounts of products are sold at nearly 1/4 of their value. This includes everything from table cloths to christmas decor. The people who bought the item before it was on sale, cannot be angry; and those who miss the sale and have to pay full price next season can't be angry either.

Businesses do what they need to in order to generate money. If that means last time they took a loss on the dragon orb ocean in order to sell more, but this time they don't want to take that loss then so be it. Things don't always have to be on sale.

In short, everything in the boutique goes truly on sale at one time or another. Because of your failure to buy it at the absolutely lowest price you are angry that they are now offering it at a higher price. You can't fault the company for this. Be glad they offer "sales" at all. They don't have to and people would still buy the items.

    Gold is 1.4m on dreamweaver * 30 per orb = 42m

    and

    Gold was 1.9m on dreamweaver * 25 per orb = 47.5m
    Gold was 1.9m on dreamwaver * 20 per orb = 38m * 5 = 190m per bundle

As far as I'm concerned this is the best sale they've had in about 6 months for 10* orbs. b:bye

By no means am I angry xD. I don't care enough to get upset over a game. I was just trying to point out that PWE most likely would've made more money if they had put them at the old sale prices. Say someone has a budget of $50, and they wanted to refine a piece of gear. With Ocean orbs at $30, they're only going to be able to buy one. PWE gets $30. If the orbs had been put at old prices, said player could've bought two Oceans with their $50. $30 profit vs. $50 profit. I would rather take the $50 profit, especially if the product I was selling didn't even really exist and I could produce endless amounts of it nearly free.

And then there are players like me who don't think the current sale prices are worth it and won't spend any money at all. Like I said, if I were them, I would've sold for the old prices. And now, I'm off to work. Be back in eight hours. b:surrender

Yeah? This is an online game, not milk or bread.

Milk or bread are things that are necessary to live, and they typically don't GO ON SALE. Comparing them to items you would buy in a GAME makes no sense.

After Christmas sales are for items, typically, and thus, you can re-use them, not for items you buy in a GAME. A music player != Pixels in PWI.

It costs ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to actually MAKE these pixels, beyond R&D costs, which are rather low because they use freaking college students in China for that. So the actual cost of 'producing' a Dragon Orb Ocean is $0.00.

In that light, is it really fair to charge so much for it? Is it fair to make R9 cost $1500?

    Answer me that one...
    101 Sage Sin*/Archer
    100 Demon BM*/Barb
    96 Demon Cleric/Sage Seeker
    95 Demon Wiz/
    94 Sage Veno
    85 Psy/80 Mystic
And a handful of other alts, all 79 and under.

I wasn't specifying "you" personally, it was a general term. Sorry I didn't clarify that beforehand. Also, I understand where you are coming from but others have made posts here and they are angry.

Yes, they can make infinite amounts of this item for virtually free. However; as a previous post states since they didn't put them at an insane amount gold has stayed in check. Sales are a nice thing but there is too much of a good thing. I rather buy gold at 1.4 mil than I had at 1.9. There are always going to be unhappy people no matter what, but I think PWI did just fine with their sale for the in game economy and to appease the players but having them on sale at all.

Wrong. If someone charged $50 even if the sale is at $30 / orb PWE already has the $50 in their wallet.

The way you say is the other way around, if the orb sale was at $25 they'd get 2 orbs, which in PWE's eyes is money loss. Since, if the player really wants another orb he/she will be encouraged to purchase $10 more OR use ingame coin to get the other one. Which goes as a coin sink.

As of the poll, I probably would have bought it, but sadly, I do not have money atm. So whatever :) ~

So we compare a single orb price to a 5 pack single orb price? Faulty logic much? How about we compare the same things at the different times which would make a single orb at that time 25 gold vs the 30 gold it is now.

    1.7m * 25 per orb = 42.5m

    vs

    1.2m * 30 per orb = 36m

And why would you compare the best deal available with the worst deal available at the time? Your logic is much more faulty than mine. I'm not surprised though, you've never actually said anything intelligent.

So you want people that only need 1 or 2 orbs to buy 5? You can't get 20 per orb unless you have enough to buy 100 gold.... it's completely illogical.

If you don't like it. Don't buy it. It's that simple. Don't purchase gold. If enough people do this then then it will force price down. Which will bring their profits back.

They will most likely stop selling them for a couple months and bring them back at the same price (still dont buy them). If after this then they will be forced to lower price. Their prices are based on what players are willing to pay for their pixels.

I guarantee they would make a bigger profit on cheaper orbs. Just based on players reactions its obvious. This goes for other games I play that i encourage players not to buy items at ridiculous prices, wait a while and they will come down. Players then will feel free to purchase more, and then even gear up multiple toons at a time.

    Sounds solid, great post!
I would classify anything that is a not necessity to live on as a luxury item; thus, in my eyes a pixel lies in the same category as an mp3 player. Would I purchase pixels over an mp3 player, nope... but that's my choice.

There is a pack sale now, although not as substantial as then. Either way, it is what it is. If the owners NEVER put anything on sale, it would all sell to those who are more elite in either their game addiction or their real life ability to cash in on more items. Gold price in this case isn't quite as relevant as the fact that the players feel ripped off. Bottom line is, they aren't doing anything different than your local wal mart or department store.
