Thinking of revisiting my veno again - opinions and suggestions please

Hi everyone

I was thinking of playing my veno again - it's my main, my first toon, and I managed to get a herc and nix on that toon, but I stopped playing because people said mystics were better, then to play a tank blah blah.

As in, I just wanted to get your opinion, is it wise to? In the current climate of things.

I also wanted to know, pardon me if I'm rusty. I saw another thread about how the wrong type of venos are on the game, and I just want to clarify. Venos lure, act as second tank (with the right pet), purge bosses if they have positive buffs, amplify damage on bosses, pass sparks to Barbs for Invoke and BMs for HF or whoever needs it....

Am I missing anything? I haven't touched my veno in 2 years and wanted to just make sure I work on all the necessary skills to be a good veno.

Sticky thread, Useful Venomancer links courtesy of Mauntille, has anything you need to know about the venomancers and will answer any possible question you have.

You should not let others influence your choices and play other classes just because people tell you they are better. Remember that this is a game you play for your own entertainment and you should stick to the classes you love playing. Moreover, better do your research before believing the crowd since it has been proven many times that "common sense" in this game is...wrong. Mystics aren't better, they have a different role in squad and that's about it.

Honestly, if you don't play the venomancer you have it's a waste of legendary pets. It was your first toon, your main, you got her the legendary pets and I assume you had lots of fun playing on her since you invested that much so why restrict yourself from playing? By all means, go ahead and have fun with your veno and learn to be a great one to show them all what venos are made of ;D

Hi Desdi, thank you so much for replying. Sorry for copying your choice of font color - the default was a little hard for me to read...

Yes, I'm starting to think that it's a waste of the legendary pets as well. I actually loved my veno. You won't believe the painful track I was on. Made a cleric, didn't like it, made a veno, loved it, then made a mystic, then a barb, then a SECOND cleric which is this one (cause the first one had a lousy name), then now I'm starting to miss the veno again.

I hope I get accepted into instances and everything else.

No problem XD I'm not the only one who uses this font colour anyway.

If you're a competent veno and people are satisfied with your contribution to the squad they'll eventually add you to their list for future runs. Also the faction/friends. As of now, I rarely join random squads for anything as I've managed to get a group of people, so to speak, that invite me/I invite to runs. Nobody can deny a good player b:victory

I hopped around on many different classes for a while...
I make a psychic, mystic, apstard sin, seeker - you name it.
I geared them all up and played around on them but it got boring. Venomancer was my first class and I've never been so in love with any other type of play style. So a while ago I just decided to scrap all my alts - sell everything on them and put it all into my venomancer and it's been one of the best decisions I've made and I don't regret it at all.

I completely agree with this. When I first started, I made a veno, then loved it but got bored, made a cleric, then a barb, then this mystic. I'm not sure whether it's the playstyle or the job but I absolutely love mystics. Although everyone says here that there have nothing to do at endgame. I love veno but mystics are like more versatile...

As for cleric, playing it drained me so much, especially when you're in a squad of trigger happy people. Same goes for barb, when you are in a squad with a semi-competent cleric. Don't even get me started on the uhh... Not so good one.

I'm not sure about you, but I did feel drained jumping around like that.

To OP. Hope you make a decision!

Luring is primarily done by Genies or not even needed now. Veno is not an ideal tank outside of ideal conditions like Warsong Metal (Stow the pet as it slows dd by taking focus to healing). Melee classes have special weapons for purging bosses, or it could be just a waste of time to purge. Barbs should rarely need sparks passed (I do play one), and BMs should have plenty of chi from aps. The venos that should be passing sparks are the ones that don't acknowledge Veno as DD.

Sounds so familiar b:chuckle I gotta admit I had pretty much the same problem. I finally geared up my veno and got both herc and nix but it was all about sins this, sins that, aps this, aps my tail >.< I felt like the game was making me play by its rules: "5aps of GTFO" I tried playing a sin but honestly I didn't enjoy the class as much as I enjoyed my veno. In the end I got back to my senses and did what I wanted to do. I absolutely love venos and always will. I no longer care about what other ppl say and I just mind my own business.

I agree with the above posts about mystics that they are a different class. I started one just 'cuz I liked the idea of a cleric and veno in one but none of the three classes can compare to each other and I really enjoying playing them all.

I know other ppl that quit their herc/nix r8 venos and made sins but got bored and just quit game. Do not make the same mistake of playing the class others tell you to play.

In the end it's all about what you enjoy doing. Love your veno? Then great, go ahead and enjoy it! If you like playing a mystic and cleric you can always leave them as your alts.

for me it looks like that venos become more popular again, at least thats what i see on harshlands.

A good veno is still or again welcome in most squads. U dont have to be sage for nirvana runs. Skilled demon venos are welcome too.

U dont need a pet in nirvana, cause u should be freakin busy with amp, purge, chi, genie debuffs and dealing dmg and u dont have to be r9. A good set of r8/nirv gear with decent refines makes u valualbe foralmost everything.

For pk, a demon veno, geared as mentioned above, with the correct skills is an absolute competitive pk machine, even without nix or vs sins (if not uber op).

Im veno from my first pw hour, it will always be my main toon and i cant say it was a wrong decision, even i had several points where i thought about quitting veno.

A veno is more then its legendary pets or a amp/ chi hxx. Its a mighty assist class which is, if used well, able to deal cruel dmg and survive things other classes can dream of.
A good veno makes a good squad much faster.

If u enjoy your veno, play it, have fun.

How convenient! I'm in the same position xD
I was also a veno from my first pwi hour... I even joined pwi when harshlands didn't exist yet. As a noobie, I really liked my veno but with so many different classes I still wanted to try them all. I even tested them out on private servers!

My ambition was to be among the best players ever, in pk... everything, and Herc and Nix were just a dream. But I guess all of us aim to be the best we can be right?
As a complete noob I'd keep reading so many guides trying to find out the perfect class. Jeez, you have no idea how much time I spent searching for the perfect class.

I have a hard time making decisions, and I kept changing class. Just so you can have an idea this veno right here is my 5th. I've had 5 venos, 3 clerics, 2 blademasters, 2 archers, 2 wizards and 1 barb (LOL don't take it as offense barbies xD) as you can tell... I kept going back to veno at some points. I mean... I wasn't that bad of a veno, I'd constantly debuff and I'd sacrifice mysef or my pet for clerics or the squad, but for some reason I always wanted to be "unbeatable". Then came assassins and psychics.... and then earthguards. Imagine my head! I'm really influenced by the media, it's like... I watch a really cool movie and I'm like "OMG Which class do you think he/she (the movie character) would be?! It's so cool". Lol I sound braindead xD Anyway the point is I couldn't ever decide.

I quitted my veno at that time. I quitted the herc dream, I was halfway with the SoF's and I sold them all and lvled a sin. I ended up deleting that sin, mking another sin etc etc horrible story it still makes me sad.

Then at some point I got some money... my friend (who joined pwi later than me and already had her characters at 100... -so depressing for me-) kept telling me to make sin, because of the aps and everything. And I kinda knew sin would be the obvious choice, I could make a sin, make money, and then work on all my alts and my alt-dependence. And I was feeling venos were getting low in number... and not needed and bla bla bla

Imma go straight to the end of the story. I ended up getting herc and nix I was incredibly excited and then I felt utterly dumb. Herc and Nix meant nothing <.< and I had just wasted my money. I chose demon... cuz I thought it would be better for Pk even though since the first day I was a sage-supporter with the tideborns and earthguards I ended up thinking it would be best for me to bet on a better kiting skill and more dmg. Then I quit pwi...
I'm thinking of coming back now, but not sure what to do. If I go back to veno... If I change her to heavy armor if I change her cultivation or if I should even bother working on her.

I always thought - Do what makes you happy. But I'm a bad loser, and people are just like "you're still that lvl? lulz nub" UGH i type so much, sorry sorry sorry

I think maybe Nashie has a jumping around kinda "syndrome". She wants to play the class that is unbeatable.

Trust me, I know that feeling. And although I loved my barb, I couldn't help but be annoyed at the lack of damage it could deal. I loved the mystic but the mana drain was so annoying. I loved my cleric but felt so tired of healing silly people.

This BM kinda is like my balance. Take a break, check out the sights. Come to think of it, I always enjoyed magical classes, but now it seems otherwise. Not sure whether this is going to be serious, or whether I'm going to jump to another class, but I hope not. BMs are kinda fun, especially with their AOEs and I'm loving AOE grinding. And if I do go APS on this toon, then maybe it can finance my cleric/mystic/veno if I choose to revisit them in the future.
