Missing a file

Ok, first off: I'm really, really pissed. I've waited for idk how many hours for this stupid update to finally finish, when something went wrong and i couldn't fix it, i just uninstalled the game and downloaded it again. That took some hours. Then i had to do the same stupid update again (tip: let people download the Descent version, not the Genesis), which took some hours too. Then finally everything was installed (and i verified everything!) and now i still can't play the game.

And do you know why? Because stupid PWI didn't ****** let me download a stupid file b:angry [/rant]

Okay, so i need d3dx9_42.dll, i downloaded it, but where do i extract it to? I'm really horrible with computers. Or do i need to download DirectX 9.0c? (yeah.. i apparently need that too now).

Anyway: Thx PWI for keeping me busy b:sweat

    yes youd need to dl directx9.0c,

    also for them to let you download the descent client, they would basically have to rebuild the install file from scratch, its cheaper and simpler to use the update service
    I tried to add a signature here thats not even as big as some. but it kept resizing to make it illegible, so **** it

    I have the direct x file downloaded my game still doesn't work. uninstalled and re-installed more then 5 times.
    Manual patches don't work.
    Updating all drives don't work.
    I'm at a loss, and ready to give up on playing this game.
    It's been a pain in the **** for over a week and nothing has changed.

    that particular file on my system is located in

    C:\Windows\System32
    where C is the drive with Windows on it, you can try extracting it to there, you probably should overwrite the old on if it asks
