Hello everyone,

I'm new here at Perfect World and decided to roll a Venomancer. However I'm pretty clueless on how this game works. I have just been doing my quests and leveling but that is about it. I had a few questions about this class.

1) At which level do we get our first permanent flying gear?

2) I'm using a Varicose Scorpion as my DD pet at the moment and it is not doing too bad. I'm not sure which pet to use as a tank though. I heard about Herc but getting that one is seriously out of the question for now.

3) Talking about cash shop pets, how does a Venomancer make money? What is profitable for us? I have no idea how to make money...which is pretty scary at the moment.

4) I'm currently level 15 but my avatar seems to be stuck at level 2. How do I fix this? T__T

    1) That would be level 30. If you have the money to, you can buy one for level 20 from the boutique

    2) Scorpions make good DDing pets even at later levels. You might want to check the venomancer forum for more pets but a widely used tanking pet is the Glacial Walker (level 19) you can find near Raging Tides. More rare pets you can use are the Shaodu Cub (level 20) and cuddly pup (level 40).

    3) Venos are very efficient in grinding in that you don't need any pots for hp/mp. Also, you can farm herbs and other mats while your pet kills. They used to have an advantage in soloing some instances but I do not know the current state of affairs. I wouldn't worry too much at your level about money making. Familiarise yourself with the game and worry about that and your gear again when you're level 70+ (NB you get some nice quests with nice coin rewards like the Goshiki quest chain)

    4) Try changing to your account's avatar then back to this one and hope it refreshes. Or just wait..

    Cheers

Thank you very much for your help so far ^__^ I am already wondering about money since I plan to obtain a Hercules later on so all tips on making some coins would be wonderful. I'm also wondering what the best way to feed my Scorpion is. I have the items from the quest to feed it but what should I do when I ran out of those? Am I obliged to buy those from the merchant or is there somewhere I could farm for them?

Is waiting the only thing I can do for my avatar? I am pretty dissapointed I can't show off my real level since I thought that was such a neat feature...

    1) Level 30 (unless you cash shop, there are flyers you can buy usable at lower levels.)

    2) Scorpion's fine until you reach your upper teens. At 17, there's the crystalline magmite; at 18, the volcanic magmite (an elite, so probably out of the question to tame solo) and at 19, the current preferred free tank pet, the glacial walker.

    3) Venomancers make good coin grinding (and can keep a greater percentage than any other class, due to low repairs and not needing many pots), and need to grind to level pets. TT used to be the main source of coin for venomancers with hercs, but between APS classes being able to farm TT faster and 2x events, the market's been flooded with TT mats making many near worthless, and the remaining aren't really farmable with a herc. The real money is in merchanting, and grinding will at least get you seed money.

    4) Try going into Edit your Avatar again and re-selecting your avatar to unglitch it.

I said don't worry about money right now because there's no way you can farm a herc at your level. It is better to just get some more hands on experience with the game and then do some instances that could potentially leave a good profit (i.e. Twilight Temple also known as TT).

Also, don't restrict yourself in that you need a herc. You can still make up for it by using the appropriate pet for each occasion. You can have a tank, a DD, a ranged pet, a flying one, a lurer/fast one etc. I know many good venos that only got a Herc at their late 90s and in all honesty, skill mastery and player ability outweigh any item you can get for a few bucks.

Now when it comes to pet feeding, you will need to buy Pure Water from the NPC but if you manage to get yourself a tome, your pet will never go hungry again. You can get the cheapest one for 2-5m I believe but then again I've abstained from market stats for too long..

Here's a web site you can use for skills/pets/tomes/armour etc Link- ecatomb

Stick with the scorpion. Together with the dark wanderer it's the best DD-pet ^^
At lvl 19 or so you can tame a glacial walker at tideborn area. They're pretty good tanks when it comes to physical damage, and it'll last you quite some time.
It's however not a must. My veno had 1 for a couple of lvls, but it's awefully slow and big b:surrender

Thanks everyone ^__^ you are so kind~! I guess I'll just let my ambitions slide for a while. As for merchanting...I'm quite clueless about which items are worth something. I guess I'll have to scout around and see what I can sell for a profit? I feel so clueless and I'm scared I won't be able to level decently if I don't get premium gear. Guess I'm just worrying too much. I do like my Varicose Scorpion a lot so I'll be sure to take good care of it. Just hope buying the water won't make me go bankrupt. I don't think I'll get a tanking pet just yet but I wanted to make sure I knew which ones to get when the need for one arises~!

I'll try and read up on these tomes o__O; how do these work? If you equip a random tome your pet will stop getting hungry?

I also tried to refresh my avatar but zero luck so far *sobs*

Of all classes, venos are least dependent on having premium gear for leveling. Just enjoy yourself.

Thank you ^__^ I'll try and enjoy me Venomancer to the maximum. I enjoy traveling with my pet, just hope I can get to level 30 fast so I can fly places instead of walking all over the place...

Do you guys think I should submit a ticket in regards of my avatar? This is really annoying...

As for obtaining a herc goes i recommend waiting till you hit level 100 and are able to grind an instance know as vana or nirvana. Venos are often popular in this instance for the effects of ironwood scarab but mainly for amplify damage. I managed to farm funds for my herc in vana but even then it still took a long time as herc tickets (can be won in packs) sell for about 70 mill on our server. good luck and don't rush too much, just have fun with the game, hercs and nixes are not that important.

Thank you ^__^ I just managed to do my first dungeon with some help of a random highleveled Seeker that was helping another Venomancer. These sure are tough. People keep telling me to replace my Varicose Scorpion. It is not a bad pet, is it? It seems to work perfectly fine backed up with my heals so I don't see the need to replace it. Is there a better DD pet out there?

So far I am really enjoying my Venomancer so I hope I will have lots of fun with her in the future as well.

Don't let the ignorant get you to give up your scorpion, it's a perfectly good pet... though you might want to add a tankier pet when you have more room in your pet bag.

Load up a varicose scorpion with 3 elemental bashes (lightning bolt/fireball/toxic mist/sandblow/icicle) maxed for the pet's level in addition to the Bash it comes with and cycle through them and there's no better land DD with the possible exception of the new level 101 pet from Morai. In circumstances where you don't want the DD pet to pull aggro (herc tanking, for instance) and you turn skills off, the dark wanderer (and possibly the seamonster guardian as well, which has a slightly lower attack than the dark wanderer) will out-DD it by a small margin.

for making money mats are really the best way to do it go around starter cities and pick up all the nectar u can find and all pig iron u can find sell pig iron for about 1k each to catshops or as a catshop and ppl buy nectar for around 500+ coins (note u get about 2 nectar per picking so its actually good) u can get around 100k+ an hour just from farming those mats
(set up a catshop b4 u go to bed and just leave it running in lost or arch which i find are the best places to sell low lvl mats)

as for a herc i honestly wouldnt worry about it hercs are not much needed anymore unless you plan on soloing tt and in higher lvl instances most ppl don't care if u use pet they just want your debuff skills ( the sins kill the mobs too fast for pets to be of much use except on bosses but then those bosses sometimes kill pet which gets annoying and ppl wont care as long as you debuff) and unless you are rich id spend your coin somewhere else since u can get free pets that will work decently(walker bear eldergoth for tanks and rider scorpion and waspkin and new morai pet if u hit 101 and can find it for dds)

nix is best pvp pet hands down but wont help you farm instances so not worth it unless you really want to be the best at pvp.

once u hit 89 and go sage or demon farming herbs in heaven / hell is next best place to gain coins till u hit 100 then you can get into nirvy XD
and as soon as you can buy a tome u can get cheapest ones for around 1.3mil least those are the prices for lvl 1 tomes on my server will save u the hassle of having to feed ur pets every 5 min
