    Long story short it's not a good idea.

    Anyway I'm downloading the patch now. I will update when it finishes but I would be quite surprised if there is a problem with it.


    I would also like to add that the game quit working on me a while back when I upgraded my graphics card's drivers with a similar missing *.dll error that clearly had nothing to do with PW.

    EDIT: Confirmed. It works just fine, no extra downloads needed.

    Good point, but it sounds like the author of that page is butt hurt over a mistake he did. dll-files.com has been around since the late 90's because of the hops you must take just to get one specific file. Instead of downloading a whole package or reinstalling an OS/app you can replace the file.

    There are other reasons as well, fault installers/updaters are a large issue. Good example is the installer or updater installing the wrong file or outdated one. His reasons are not unfounded tho just he gives just a one-sided view of the argument and not one of a true engineer.

    For anyone missing it, that's the DLL I required, game launched as soon as I added it. (windows > System 32 > paste)

    You may wish to add that to your original post esco, and maybe link the whole thread in tech support.

    ~this would indicate the boosted Direct x support and the minimal requirements bumping to DirectX9.0c or whatever it was is correct. The post indicating this is long gone however so digging it up is your responsibility if you care.

    everything they do to the game pushes peeps away more n more .. take for example ...

    this new expansion .. i downloaded it and launched .. guess what .. its forcing another freakin patch .. been at this **** since 7 am my time thats currently 8 hours and STILL unable to play ... wtf
