ALT archer

So I have an archer as an alt and would like to get it to 100. Now since it's only an alt, I'd like to ask some questions

First thing to clarify is that I have no intention on rank gear, as it is an alt, I'm not that committed to it.

So far my plan is to get me full TT99 gear OR lunar Gear. I wanted to know which an archer benefits from more and the cons/pros of both, pre and post Nirvana, granted the expense of Lunar is also to be accounted for. Will probably use Lionheart ornaments either way

As of now my plans are HP shards and about a +7 refine for now, until I can farm higher, other than the weapon, keeping that around +10. Are HP shards a good idea for a cheap but effective alt?

I will not be using fists, that's what I have my BM for. I also will not be using interval gear, again, that's why I have a BM.

I plan on a lunar Nirvana weapon eventually, but that seems far into the future. Instead I plan on the Lunar 95 gold bow that has the purge effect to it until I farm the raptures, but then I may go lunar crossbow Nirvana cast, since the archer will mostly be used to **** in trials, and most of the time I will be using skills. (Never ending BoA in trial 3 for the win?) This also means using the lunar bow in TW if I ever do TW on my archer. Plus, the purge effect is nice, like in the earth elemental room of trial 1, so either way I will be keeping the purging bow and using it a lot even still, I'd just hate to lose the purge in a Nirvana cast. If this is not a good idea, please inform me of something else that would work.

Thanks in advance

    Couple of comments:
-Interval is a viable piece of equipment for an Archer. Though max interval is not necessary.
-Do you plan on upgrading armor to NV?
-Are you considering items such as Cube/WS Orns or Matchless/Cloudcharger Cape
-Lunar Bow keeps purge on 1st Cast NV. It's not until 2nd Cast does it lose Purge, in chance for random stats, and even better, Spirit Blackhole.

Pure stat-wise you'd probably get more mileage out of TT99 than Lunar, because both can be made into Nrivana but the TT99 armor has some pretty good set bonuses and a lot of Vit... 15 points of that Vit come from equipping 4/6 pieces, so you could have all four armor pieces and then the two Lionheart ornaments to give you the 15 Vit bonus and a modest amount of -int.

That being said, if I ever get a better set of armor than what I have now it'd be Lunar Nirv, mostly because I don't like the look of TT Nirv. :P But I'm weird like that.

Yes, I'm still a stubborn holdout in favor of the old game. Haters gonna hate. ;]

    Other Active Characters:
LigerKing (Barb), Girasole (BM), Shamsheer (Sin), ArborSoul (Mystic).

Lunar Nirvana just incase when your archer has been 100 for more than 3 months and you decide archer is not so fun endgame. Lunar also looks better with the exception being the bow, I love my TT Nirvana bow.

Over time I will Nirvana it, but slowly
I am not considering those ornaments since this is only an alt
I was not aware of lunar bow keeping the purge. This changes things <_< Lunar bow it is.

Noted, so TT might be the better way to go.

R8 is much cheaper than nirvana at the moment, at 72 gold. Not sure what gold prices are like on your server, but here that's only 100-120m.

If anything, if you're looking for inexpensive equipment you should be considering R8 first before looking at TT99/Lunar/Nirvana.

Also, is this alt on the same account as your main, and will you be taking advantage of an account stash?

I generaly dont recomend 99 adorns i perfer a hp neck (90 gold one is nice think necklace of giant strength) and the oht belts (map 4 is ofc the best but the other maps are pretty nice also gives both phys and mag def on each belt but one refines phys the other mag) archers really dont need the extra aps from the 99 adorns.

R8 is definately a good choice (you get top pants and bow) the rank 8 bow at about +5 has comprable damage to a +10 heaven shatter (if what i read in another thread is correct).

    Well anyway good luck =)

I say if you are choosing between vana sets, go LG. It buffs better. Plain and simple. That should be the deciding factor. Also, the LG gold gears are better than the TT99 ones (less int, but honestly, who cares about int? you have a bm main for farming).

If I could do it all over again, I would have gone for the gold LG set and already have my nirvy pants/hat instead of blowing coin on tt99 boots/wrists and r8/rep. Ijs, LG is also available for use earlier, and the bow is just icing on the cake (I will have to consider just getting a first cast now lol; was going to save straight for 2nd cast).

If you share an account with your bm, then it would be very helpful to get an account stash and share some of your bm gear with your archer. Its easier to build up gear if you can share it with 2 toons. And of all the builds I've tried with my archer, I prefer having fists to switch to for fast chi and good up close damage.

Noted and considered, but I don't want 99 ornaments for interval, just added P.Def, but as stated before, I'm no archer o.O will mess with PWCalc with this

*points to farming BM note* this +2

Ok, but at the same time the % increase from TT Nirv can't be debuffed...so it's situational. Then again, this will mainly be used for PvE, so everything you've said will be noted, and I may just go Lunar

    Different account as BM.

If I'm not mistaken, Lunar Nirv is better than rank 8? But of course this is an alt, so I'll consider that too. Another thing I'm looking forward to is playing the game to earn these things, so for alts I don't go cheap, I like a good challenge >:D But of course, rank 8 could be a temporary fix up since i van get it sooner due to the difference in price :D

Thanks to those that commented, any more info I should know?

First cast (G13) lunar nirvana refines marginally better than R8, but has on average about 300 less base attack. The better refining isn't enough to make up the difference, even at +12.

Second cast (G15) lunar nirvana refines a bit better than R8 and has roughly equal base damage, with the potential for better addons.

Alot of emphasis on this being 'only an alt' and not wanting to really commit to it. Which is fine, don't get me wrong....but honestly, I'd go with as much Lunar gear as possible if this is your feeling on it.
In the end, you can still go g15 and have it all unbound and ready to sell or trade to your main account.
Just the impression I'm getting from the real emphasis on it being 'just an alt'. That way you're not sinking unrecoverable coin into it, like you would be with rank or TT-Nirvana.

Oh, you meant bow only when you said that? Thing is, this will be mainly a trial pwner for a faction I've been long associated with, isn't purge better? (NOTE: Not many venos, maybe only 2 80+ venos in the mentioned faction, as it is rather small)

If the damage actually is better to have than the potential purge, then I do stand corrected.
