Worth it to move?

I've been on Harshlands for almost the entire time I've been playing this game and I'd have to say I'm rather 'established' there. I have plenty of coins and fairly good gear (by my own standards) and I can easily put in that extra amount of work to multiply it.

The only issue is, I've worked for about 2 years to get to this point. Hurrhurr.

But right now, the server is like.. dead. The TW is absolutely horrid, it might get better with the upcoming map resets - but for now it's absolute garbage. Part of me also doesn't think it'll improve much with the map reset.

The attitude of players there is also pretty bad in general.

Anyway, I've heard a lot of great things about LC from people on HL who have alts there or their mains are there. I hear your TW scene is really booming and I'm interested quite a bit.

The only issues is that I wouldn't be starting there with absolutely nothing, I was just wondering if you guys thought it would be worth it?

Thoughts anybody? Or should I just stay put. Or quit.

If you're attracted to the TW/PvP, there are a ridiculous amount of full rank 9's on the server, so unless you plan on getting full rank 9 yourself and refining it decently, don't bother because you'll be a 1-shot to just about everyone.

So you need to be prepared to:
    a) Level & gear a farming char then no-life farm
    b) Be prepared to play the merchanting game for a substantial amount of time
    c) Sell your first born child and CS the gear
    d) Any combination of the above

There would also be as much 'attitude' here as there - the game is fairly dead in a sense, and a lot of the people left are those who've spent a lot of money and can't let go of the game, so they take out their frustrations on others. It's the longest standing and most populated PvP server (as far as I'm aware) so naturally it's the most competitive, meaning there are many more well geared players here than you'd find on Harshlands. If you're okay with having average gear (rank 8/Nirvana) but getting destroyed, then hey, why not try out the server? But if you're planning on being competitive, be prepared to invest a lot of time and/or money.

That's just my take on it, others may see it differently.

It is worth it if you want to participate in competitive TW but prepare to either CS heavily or farm/merchant your gears up to the *standards* here.

TW is quite active and you can look at the recent TW results here:

I think it's worth it. IMO, 6-month TW cycles will limit the number of high-end TWs that really occur between the top two factions.

If you have average gears (non-r9, less than +10), you can still participate in 2nd & 3rd-tier TWs. Those factions won't have as high of a requirement and several probably won't be able to field 80 people for TW.

It just feels like it's a lot of the same here.
ONLY the same guilds bidding on eachother.
ONLY the same people at PVP zones.
Our server also doesn't attract ANY new players, so it's literally just 10% core players and the other 90 are their alts.

TBH I would wait. Server merger is inevitable and you could save yourself alot of time and work.

Yeah forgot about that. Guess those servers will just be shut down then. Better hope you are on a highly populated server like Lost City.

I think its worth the change. While it's true some tw scenarios are a big confrontation of rank9 masses, with the map resets every 6 months there will be always the small enthusiastic guilds that like to tw but don't have super awesome gear. Those wars seem to be fun, I remember once I entered a TW of like 40 vs 40, and there was like 2 rank9s in each side. The war lasted like one hour and a half and the side where I was lost, but it was still fun.

oh yeah i find those war a lot better. I remember kagebushi vs domga, both factions couldn't wait cause we weren't cs factions and had aroudn the same number of people

My-en already merged servers once. For names I'm pretty sure the older account kept the name and the other player was allowed to change theirs.

Names are interserver connected. Use a name on one server, it won't be available on any other server. So that wouldnt be an issue.

I recall a GM or Mod saying something about all time zone related servers are connected (name wise) which sort of makes sense. So all west coast servers (lost city, HT, etc) share the same name database, but it is separate from east and EU (harshlands, lothranis, etc). I'm not entirely sure, but perhaps that's how it is?

Ppl r mentioning the new 6 months TW seasons as a reason to start over on LC. But: how many TW seasons will there be? One, maybe two before the game is finally dead? I mean, PWE is officially working on the successor, so it's obvious that PW's time has come. Also other great games r coming this year.

    About server merge:
char names aren't even the main problem. It's not possible to easily transfer chars and items between servers in PW. The GMs had to make a new char on the new server, level it to the appropriate level (at least they can do that easily with the GM tool), then give this char all the gear and items the original char has. Also everything would be unrefined and w/o shards, so GMs would need to give you the orbs and shards as well. Now imagine GMs would forget to give ppl back a single item... ppl would complain and spam tickets.
Cloning a char on another server takes a serious amount of time. Time that PWE is not willing to spend on a dying game. Period.

This game has apparently been dying or dead for about 2years and in my opinion it isn't dead or close to it.By saying it's so dead on forums just stops new people from playing.IMO the game is dead to people who rushed the game and have nothing to do,it's still fun if you make it fun.
I would play LC I find it pretty populated and fun.OP players but every server has them.
