well it could be multiple issues that cause that. I could narrow it down more if you told me what fixes you've tried so far, what your OS is, and maybe even a screenshot.
Just offhand I'll throw some common issues/fixes out there, but like I said, more information would be a great help.
1. Even though you've re-installed it twice, you could have a corrupt file. There are many things that could cause this. HD errors, bad blocks, antivirus software auto-cleaning the files in the background, other software compatibility issues (such as toolbars, video decoders, and so on), the list is quite large.
Solution: Verify the client files using the option in the launcher. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries. It is recommended to disable your antivirus software's real-time scan temporarily while you do this in case it is what "cleaned" a file and cause the issue in the first place.
2. The client is attempting to use a system process that is faulty or disabled.
Solution: Make sure that Windows is up-to-date with patches and service packs. You may want to run the System File Checker software from the Windows install disk to replace any corrupt system files and then update the OS. (How you do this depends on your version of Windows so I won't go into further detail.)
3. Some background process or software is preventing the client launcher from executing properly.
Solution: Check your running background programs for anything that might be interfering. You should also check the details in the Windows Error Reporting Tool to see what caused it to crash.
4. Any number of possible errors with corrupt dll files, outdated DirectX versions, bad video drivers and/or utilities, outdated audio drivers, and about a thousand other things that are too long to bother listing depending on what Operating System version you have.
Hate to say it, but the majority of that is your computer. If you would care to provide more information, I will be glad to look into it further.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
my windows is windows 7 64bit all my drivers and direct x are all up to date the only error i get is elementclient.exe is not working when i try to start the game the version of the game is version 601
of all the games i play and i have been playing perfectworld now this is the only one i am having problems with
i havent installed any thing new except the update for perfect world but all my other drivers dll's and programs are all working perfectly
i am very literate in computers and i know its not my computer its the game that is the problem
i use revo uninstaller to uninstall a program then i also go thru the regedit to make sure there is no lingering files left behind
i do know what i am doing when it comes to a computer and i have done pretty much all i can do except to uninstall it again and reinstall it hoping it will eventually work
thx0 -
I did not intend to imply you were a noob or computer illiterate by any means, I just had very little information to work with.
I find that setting the executable files for PWI to run with administrator rights helps a lot with Vista/7/8 64-bit, but I don't see why that would cause the program to error out like that.
What is the output in the Error reporting tool when it fails?
Assuming that it was working prior to the update, and failed to work after the update, would narrow down the possibilities. But that points more to security software flagging part of the program and blocking it from executing, or blocking a script the program is initializing.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
the antivirus i use is avg have always used it and i use adaware have always used it also
when i click start it goes to that .exe has stopped working and that is all that happens
i have uninstalled it again and trying to download it again see if it helps to redownload the whole program and patches
will keep u informed and see if it works
how do i start it with admin rights i have never had to do that with any game i played and i play a lot of them lol
thx0 -
Under Windows 7 and Vista, you need to set the three .exe files to run with administrator rights under the program compatibility settings.
These files are....
C:\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\patcher\patcher.exe
C:\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\Launcher\Launcher.exe
C:\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\element\elementclient.exe
Right-click on these, select Properties, click the "Compatibility tab, and check the box at the bottom where it says "Run this program as administrator".
(Personally, do this with any high-quality game and you will see a noticeable improvement in performance on most 64-bit systems.)
Do not set them to run under any other version of windows, or set any other compatibility settings. (Unless you have an older system, then the "Disable visual themes" option might improve your FPS a bit.)
AVG is also well-known for it's false-positives. If you haven't already, I would highly recommend adding the client folder to the exception list for active and scheduled scans. After you have done this, disable the active scan and run a verify on the client.
Every time you update, disable the active scan temporarily while you are doing the update process.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

ok, here's some thoughts......
1. Do you happen to have an ATI video card? is it running the latest version of video drivers? Whether it is or not, which version do you have installed right now? (10.12 can cause this problem with some games.)
ATI Divers
Nvidia Drivers
2. Do you have the most recent .NET updates/upgrades installed?
3. Very Rare, but the firewall could cause this in some cases. Make sure that the client still has pass-through permission. You might even add an allow-all rule for elementclient.exe.
4. Even more rare, but how much ram do you have? Do you have any video encoer's installed? (like ffdshow ect.) That could be loading up when the client is opening to begin the intro video and it is reaching your memory limit. Conflicting programs, (PWI and the endocer), both trying to lock up more private memory for themselves than you have could cause it.
5. The shot in the dark... I have heard many reports of problems cause by the Pando Media Booster that gets installed when you download the fake "Direct Download". Uninstall Pando Media Booster. Uninstall the game client. Back up any screenshots from the screenshots folder. Delete the game folder completely. Shut off your PC completely. Remove power. Hold the power button for one minute. Re-apply power. Boot the PC. Wait 5 minutes for all of the background processes to finish loading. (Just because you can see your desktop, doesn't mean it's done booting up.) Delete the installer you previously downloaded. Download using the torrent method. (If you don't have torrent software, I recommend utorrent.) Disable AVG. Right-click the installer and select "Run as Administrator". Use the verify files option in the installer. After installing, add C"/Perfect World Entertainment" to AVG's exception lists.
I provided helpful links for others who may be having similar issues.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Wow, that's really unusual. I haven't run into that before. I covered just about every aspect I can possibly think of, and I'm at a loss as to what else could be causing it.
The only other things that could help me look at it would be Speccy output, a dxdiag log file, and a hijackthis log.
If you want to keep trying, I'm willing to keep looking into it. I won't blame you for giving up though, that's one tough nut to crack there, especially given that it was working previously.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
i play many pwi games and this is the only one giving me problems now i also play others like atlantica online and wonderland and have no probs with any other games but this one its got me stumped short of formatting but i have too much installed to do that would take me 2 days to get it back to normal lol
will give it some thought maybe think of something if u get any ideas let me know and ty for all your help0 -
SO i'm having the same sort of problem except I put in my info " ID and password" and it tells me the game is loading, but as soon as that happens, it closes down. I played the game before and it didn't happen, what could be happening?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
