Need some input on skills please

Regarding the two skills focused mind and tidal protection.
I am busy trying to level my skills and they are getting really pricey atm. I have leveled focused mind to 10 as I find it really useful for tanking bosses. But my question is really in regards to tidal protection... do we use this skill for magic attacks? Or is it as it says for only status effects.. like poison or bleed? Can someone give me some good examples of when this skill would be worth spending my hard earned coin on?

    You'll definitely want Tidal leveled eventually.

    Tidal has a 50% chance to evade any status effect, like poison/bleed/stun/sleep/seal/etc. It's moreso useful in PvP, but for bosses that sleep/seal/stun, it's very useful. Bosses such as Nirvana bosses, or the second boss in FC. There are more, but I'm too lazy to list them all.

    Just to add to Skai's list, cause I find it the best reason to lvl tidal protection : defence debuffs. A 50% chance not to have your defence crushed to 0 is awesome.

    Tidal Protection is definitely worth it.

    It comes to handy with at least the following situations:
    1. PQ Boss and his debuff pre-89
    2. Polearm and Gaurnob
    3. Diabolic Shocktrooper, Dreadindra, Messenger of Fear, Decaying Fragrance and Holeen in FCC
    4. Eventually Nirvana
    5. Any mob that deals wood damage, since Wood damage is a DoT and Tidal Protection can dodge that
    6. Eyes of the Krimson Beyond

    And of course, the skill is absolutely golden in PvP.

    Wow ty so much for your replys!
    This has helped me immensely in my understanding. Kinda explains to me why I dont understand it too much as I am only lvl 91 atm... dont do frost too much and pretty squishy still so unable to tank pole or nob. But, I do tank wyvern for friends an I think that skill will be useful for that as well. I hadnt thought of debuffs was just thinking on the status effect thing. I think I will put more into it.. it looks like a really important one. Again ty so much.
