This is going to be a silver ring project. Yeah basically im going to make a pwi ring (or try to) For those that have no idea, click the link above and there is a step by step process that i snapped.

Sooo... what do I use?
For starters Art Clay Silver. Its a clay that when fired, turns into silver after the excess minerals dissolve away. Silver and gold are actually high in price right now but thankfully, these are small amounts of them so it wont break your wallet. Average 30-50$ for a double thumbnail size which you can mold to your will.

This is old clay. As long as you dont fire it, you can keep it for years... rock hard... It use to be in another shape until i added water to it and put it in this container, hence the shape.

Now that its rock hard again i will add more water >.> it should become fully squishy in about 1-2 full days. While its at that, i'll be looking online for some fire-able gems.

I'll be snapping more pictures as i progress along with the diff. things i use. The only real tricky part about this clay is that
1) it dries quick (even if it says 'slow dry')
2) its super sticky as it is so you dont want to add excess water
3) if its out for 30min-1hr without water, it will become super hard youll be filing that thing already.

#2+3 do not a good mold clay make >.>

Alright so lets get the shopping started o.o
There are some things that im missing or have low stock of

Sanding tools. What i WANTED here is the Sanding Sponge Variety Pack. But shipping to hawaii on this site costs nearly 30$ so i said *** dat! >_> My next choice is the 2x2-inch square. Its smaller but I can just buy 2. Shipping:$8.20 Great! \o/ USPS priority

These guys are very powerful. Depending on how hard and long you scrub, they sand away the fired silver too...

I also want to use some gems this time. Now according to this Gem firing chart, Spinel seems to be a decent choice so ill be getting 3mm and 2mm, 2 sizes just in case.

Now the next buy could and prolly is unnecessary. I want a crown for my jewel so i dont have to stick the gem right in the silver and be worried it might pop out. I chose the 14K 2mm earstud setting, assuming gold melts at 1900

For those who are interested in silver making dont freak out at the price because the main things are highlighted in red. Its pretty much just the $3 gem, $11 sanding sponge, and the shipping fee for a total of $25 or so >.>

So What do you need to make silver jewelry?
in this day and age you can get away with just the Silver Art Clay (or PMC their pretty much the same) and stove fire. You also need a wire net to put over the fire so you can place your jewelry to fire. You really dont need the fancy kilns and torches and tools. Use paperclips or the back/ends of pens, pencils, paintbrushes, etc, anything.

I had this idea going for about half a year before i started. So I had bits and parts of it done, such as the molding of part of the ring. Now after i make the mold, i need a cast, so i can make another copy of the mold in silver this time.

To do this i use this:

I have absolutely no idea what its called. All I can say is that this is like a plastic putty. You soak it in hot water and it becomes soft. When it cools off it retains the shape of whatever you did with it.

Here you can see the shape is intact. After I put the mold in. The mold itself is not shown cause i melted it >.> (it was clay)

Remember the rock hard silver clay that i put some water in? Well here it is now, all soft again

I dont want to waste the newer silver clay yet, so i wont take it out. Once its out of its air tight package, it dries up pretty fast. Instead, this older gooey mess of silver will do better since I wont have to put any pressure to fill in the small/deep parts

The putty cast is still very much flexible even when its in the 'shape' so I should have no problems taking the silver mold out later. Now all we have to do is wait. TBH i havnt yet decided on the deco of the 'ring' part of the ring so if you guys have any good ideas, lemme know

its pretty simple as you only really need the clay, your hands, and stove fire

the rest of the stuff is just things i accumulated over the years so dont let it intimidate you

For those who have xmas $$ left over these kits might be a good starter

uh oh, looks like i botched the first cast a little bit. See those holes? :d
The clay is currently dry but not actually hard enough. Meaning if i add new softer clay on top of it, it would probably soak in the moisture and smudge the shape. So im going to leave this out for a few days more for it to harden yet again. About a day or two should work.

Meanwhile I can prolly work on the ring body

its actually still drying atm. The more i leave it out to dry, the easier it will be when i stick future clay on it over and over. This part is important for me because i dont use a kiln. A kiln will allow even drying. I use a stove and a flame burner or whatever u call it. (just stove is ok tho) When i put it on the stove, it has to be completely dry so right now im taking a preemptive measure.

The gems have arrived and i kinda tweaked the image of the ring again which i can post.
