Oh, wow ty i didnt knew that , i was active on fw.At that time we was crying on FW forums to admins to move our account from Storm Legion server to another one ,more active b:sad
Glad pwe rewarded the pwi players too. :)
Ont the FW forums some1 said that the attacks came from ...China b:laugh lol what a irony..from Wanmei's country b:laugh

It'd only make sense for a person to re-route their IP if they're going to DDoS a company. Such an action can have legal ramifications, if the perpetrator is found. I doubt someone posting on the forums is going to have more capability than a cybercop when it comes to something like that.b:mischievous

    Anyway, back on topic...

Any further news? People still having issues with the servers?

    Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that we're aware of the server issues. We're currently working on it and hopefully all servers will be back up soon. I apologize for any inconveniences this may cause. Hopefully it'll just be simple case of lubing the hamster wheels.

    b:thanks

As of 1:31 AM CST the servers appear to be up in PWI. But that doesn't make sense as while I was able to log in with one of my two accounts for maybe a half hour, I was unable to log in with my other account, and unfortunately I was also unable to log in with either account no more than 5 minutes ago after having logged off with the account that could log in just to test and see. So either the servers have randomly IP banned various people, or there is something more going on here that needs to be looked into.

Also, not sure if this is relavent or not, but I have been trying to download PWI on my laptop and I can't even get past the initializer screen of the Installer, because it keeps telling me that my computer cannot connect to the servers for some reason. Unsure if that is related or I just have the game blocked on my laptop for some dumb reason that I can't figure out (don't think it is the latter though as I turned off all my computers virus protections, firewalls and what not and still couldn't get the game to install).

    Google it!b:avoid

    Just kidding.b:chuckle

Distributed Denial of Service. It's when a person (usually using a boatload of "slave" computers) submits so many requests to a server simultaneously that the server has to crash to prevent itself from frying. This leads to a denial of the service that the particular server supplies, thus why it was called "DDoS". It's happened many, many times, so many to Google alone that it has implemented a Captcha on too many like searches in a row.

It might have happened many times, but few companies actually admit when it happens to them. PWE is a rarity in that regard, and as such, not many people outside of the IT field have any clue what it means.b:chuckle

Don't feel bad, soooooooo many people were asking the same thing back when the DDoS attacks were ocurring.b:laugh

I'm Still having problems for some reason. I tried to login into my first account where i sell and cat shop and it worked fine, but when i switched over to my Main account it wouldn't let me log in. My brother tried to log into his and his account was denied as well. So my question is: Are some accounts being denied entrance to the game or are all accounts being denied?

I'm not sure what's happening, but I don't recommend logging out if you're able to log in. I have one account that's in game fine and another that can't get into the same server.

I am going to mention it again since it seems that either nobody saw it since it was at the bottom of the last page, or nobody noticed it because I edited it in after I had actually made the post.

But I have been having some trouble downloading the game onto my brand new laptop this evening. The basic problem is that everytime I try to get the game installed the Installer will not load claiming that the installer cannot connect to the servers. Is there a possibility that whatever is causing the interruption of service to the game itself is also affecting the Game Download Servers? I ask because I have tried everything on my end I can think of to stop the issue of the Installer not getting stopped up, from turning off my Windows Firewall, to Turning off both Windows firewall as well as my Antivirus Protection. And still it says I cannot connect to the Server. So I am at a loss as to what to do. Currently I am in the process of downloading the Installer as a Torrent to see if that makes any difference in the situation but I am not anticipating that it will.

The problems they are having aren't being (and likely won't be) expounded upon. If I were you, I would just wait for the all-clear from MonkeyShatter, to avoid possible erroneous bans.b:surrender

There is a possibility that the two issues may be related. It's hard to say until this issue is resolved.

Also, I know it's something that you might have already done, but have you tried restarting the computer? I've noticed that sometimes fixes my patching issues.

going to attempt that now, though if the game download problem is a related issue, and this is in fact being caused by a DDoS or whatever its called, it would be nice to know so we don't compound the problem by continuing to attempt to log in, download the game, etc... and just downright overloading the servers more than they already are. If you know what I mean?

If it were a DDoS, they would be able to tell (I would hope), since the requests made by the "slave" computers are all the same as the host. This would mean that there would be a large number of similar requests to the server, which would be easy to spot in any troubleshooting.

For that reason, I'm not thinking along the lines of a DDoS, though I guess anything is possible.

That assumes that the DDoS were programed by a complete idiot instead of a genius. A smart programmer could easily design a DDoS attack that requires each slave computer to make a unique or random request of the target computer, thereby making the attack look uncoordinated though still as effective in shutting down the server if done in a large enough mass effect.

Aologies, I think too much :(

Doing so would require months of preparation, and possibly months again of writing the code required. That would require each "slave" computer (which is the computer of the everyday person who downloaded some sort of malware on accident) to access a different line of the affecting program. This would also mean that there would have to be many, many lines in the affecting program, otherwise there would be limited options which the "slave" could select from, thus defining it as a DDoS.

In short, to do that to any company would mean that you have a deep and utter loathing for all that company stands for, and would be willing to dedicate a year of your life for a few days of satisfaction as they scramble to fix something you did. Pretty much, you'd have to be crazy or have waaaaay to much spare time on your hands.b:chuckle

The servers are letting me login intermittently. Don't log out as there is a chance that you may not be able to get back on.

Um what? I know a certain group who can do it in hours of planning
