Help with installing!

okey, so I downloaded from the direct download, but when I tried to open the Installer file it just opened in Text editing and some weird HTML codes came up. So I tried to do the Torrent download and when I tried to open that file it just became a VLC media player file...

So how do I do to get it installed properly?
I've got a mac BTW, and don't come and tell me to buy a PC cuz I already have one, but it sort of crashed.

    it sounds like you have text editor to open files change the setting and you will be ok
