refining to +9?

Hi b:bye

I got my armour pieces to +7 using tienkangs and tishas. I will use the dragon ocean to get it to +8. How do i get it to +9 cheaply? The +9 orb is expensive to make compared to +8 and +10. Even if i buy gold at 1.2m and wait for 83% sale, the 9* orb is about 45m made from 750 1* orbs for 1 orb, while i'll have 10~11 pieces to use.

Anyone have any tips, ideas, thoughts?

I was thinking of getting more dq points and mirage and trying for +9 with mirages and tishas and use the dragon ocean to get +10 to cut down cost. But that will take quite a bit of effort to farm in this 2x event and i am not sure if my heart can take it b:chuckle.

    From +8 till +10 it`s cheaper to use Ocean orbs, than combining from 1*

    If you used an ocean to +8, what's stopping you to use an ocean to +9...?

    Angel, +8 orb with 0.045 gold orbs is like 19.75 gold or something, but I'd just use an ocean to save the effort of combining. The "correct" way is to Tisha to 8 ofc.

    Hmm, simply I haven't seen +8 orbs selling in cats and + 7 is already around 20m. Guess I`m just too lazy. b:surrender

    True, thanks, i thought that dragon ocean only did +2 to +3, +7 to +8 and +9 to +10. Totally forgot that it can be used to make +8 to +9 as well, was too fixated on making an orb for each level. Thanks for the replies ImNotFiveAps, Devoted, Angel_Spawn and Okeano

    the number on the orb indicates that it can refine any piece of gear to the next level with 100% chance, provided that the gear is a lower level than the orb.

    the 10* orb will let you refine to any next lvl up to 10

    This may sound a little crazy, but here it goes.

    If you run virtually any OS, you have access to some form of calculator. You just input the appropriate numbers in there and you can figure out which is cheaper! I know, it's crazy!

    If you are super fancy like me, you have your own to use right in your hands! In the event that you have neither, then Google can act as a rudimentary calculator!

    Give it a try, I hear you can solve many problems this way and completely avoid these threads!

    99.5% of posts about "what is cheaper" can be solved by opening the boutique, reading, opening the AH gold screen, reading, and then using a calculator.

    That is my standard reply for these threads. Honestly, I didn't read much (bad Decus!). I'm not sure why he thought that either :x

    He honestly didn't think 10 star were an option at all, after reading the description. He knew it could help him get from 7-8 though. And from 9-10. But for some bizzarre reason I can't even hazzard a guess at, he didn't think it would take him from 8-9.

    I did the maths myself.

    To get my fists to +7 was cheaper to use 1* orbs at current sale prices than it would cost to, say, buty an ocean to get from 6 to 7. I also got my helm from 6-7, and then from 7-8 for cheaper using 1* as opposed to Oceans. However, it was like 38 gold to get enough 1* orbs for a 9* Orb, vs the current 25 gold for an Ocean. Since I don't have 50 gold to burn on +10 for my helm, I decided to hold off on further refining, and left my helm at +8 (nor did I have the coins to burn on the orbs, or the coins to buy gold for the orbs...)

    I also found that turning coins into Gold then buying the orbs from Boutique was cheaper than buying from catshops.

    I'm sure that most of them have stocked up on these orbs while they are cheap as hell, and when they go off sale, they will make massive profits.

    Dear Retsuko, Decus and VenusArmani, thank you for your input as well. I did find the cheapest way, mirages+tishas/tienkangs = free to +12, imagine the millions saved in coins or hundreds of real life dollars sent to starving children in africa, now we can all have fun trolling this thread.

    Sarrafeline - yes it is cheaper to get 1* now. I did not have enough coin during anni time to buy anything. I did not time nor expect orbs to be 83% off this week after being 66% for over a month. With 83% off and if gold was bought around 1.2m mark, that would make lots of refining cheap, but i don't have such luck with timing these things. I haven't used orbs yet, and was scared to gamble one away for no reason especially something worth 20/25 gold.

    At times i was tempted to convert my coins to gold, buy gold and sell to the shop buying 1* orbs at higher prices than the gold prices for a miniscule profit, but decided not to. Still getting used to the game.

    How are Tishas and Tienkangs free? Or do you actually do events to get them from event cards? b:laugh Everyone I know does events to get event gold for Fashion. b:avoid

    Annnd... If you sit on those orbs for a while, you can probably get a good profit out of them. I did that with badges a while ago, and got 1.1 mil profit per gold I bought through AH.

    I use the event gold to get demon/sage cards. Use that to get teinkangs and tishas. I do the monday event got 2 cards in 8 weeks. Farmed 2~3 more. With 2x drop+ 2x dq reward =~1/4 farming so that helps. When i do tt with friends i take all the mirages and don't take mats, so that works out for free mirages. I never got into fashion.

    I just hope the orbs don't hatch while sitting on them...sitting on orbs....sitting on orbs...."looks in inventory, oh look a +10 armour piece"..."odd one orb is missing probably crossed the road b:chuckle".
