Clerics replaced

Have we clerics been replaced I see people asking for cleric/mystic and some say mystic not even cleric and with the new skills this might take it to the next level and they even beat us in PVP?b:shockedb:sad
Can someone shine some light on this

    A. Mystics new skills are buffs/heals
    B. Mystics don't need new skills to ROFLSTOMP clerics

    Archers, Venos, Barbs, Wizards, BMs, Mystics, Seekers are Paper.
    ...and Clerics are Mushrooms.
    Paper beats Rock. Scissors beats Paper. Scissors also happens to beat Rock...until Rock gets 50k+ soulforce at which point Rock becomes an unstoppable killing machine that beats Paper... and would beat Scissors but it can't find Scissors, because Scissors are invisible.
    So Scissors beat Paper and avoids Rock, and that is called BALANCE. -cheze

    a high-level, well geared mystic that knows how to play support can be very effective.
    High-level well-geared, constantly sparking BM's don't need a cleric as badly, so a mystic will do in a pinch.

    Clerics are still the best healers in the game, but Mystics are becoming a very close second.

    Simple... most of the times, clerics are hard to find.
    Smart mystics can do the job as well, so people ask for both.

    If anything, groups might want a cleric & mystic in their group now...
    Throw in a barb, a veno... & whoever else after that...
    But, clerics still perform the function of a healer far better than the mystic
    (at least, given both know what they are doing)
    As far as in pvp... im not sure... as far as i can tell, every class can be extremely deadly...
    provided the player's playstyle adhears to that class & its skills...
    So in the end, Clerics are better "healer / support" in groups ... b:victoryGo Clerics!
    And Mystics will do, but they are NOT Clerics ... b:crySorry Mystics...

    Depends on the kind of thing you are doing.. Mystics are far more effectiv in Situations, where a) a bit heal is enaugh or b) squatmembers attack different targets.
    Mystics are the better choice, if healing is not the first priority, like in FC. There just a little bit healing is enaugh, so the Mystic is the better choice, since he can attack, while his plant heals.

    Other situations needs more healing power. For example if a boss hits really hard or has a strong AoE. In that cases it's needed to have a Cleric to open BB. Second situation, where a cleric is essential is if the boss has a Debuff, since cleric is the only class with a reliable purify.

    So both make a good team.. If the cleric focus on the tank and the mystic keeps the rest of the party alive and attacks. And to be honest as a Myst I don't desire being the single healer. It takes a whole lot MP to do that job on usual Boss kills..

    Thanks Apostasy made me feel better, but I asked a friend of mine very nice guy who seems to do a lot of bh,fc etc and he says clerics are only needed mainly for gv but he prefers mystics for the rest and in instances where little healing is needed clerics can just use the advanced form of wellspring surge (forgot the name) and dish out some sweet dmg, since they have some strong magic skills compared to a mystic no offense

    Have clerics been replaced? Yes. And no.

    There are times when BB is absolutely necessary. Can't do it without BB. There are times when purify is absolutely necessary. There are times when IH is necessary. Times when RB is necessary.

    But...

    Mystic has salad that can give the same AOE healing effect as BB. Sage Psy Bubble has a chance to AOE Purify. Psy has an AOE IH. And seriously, RB becomes worthless after everyone has 3 sparks and 2.0 APS.

    Then there's Bloodpaint, Demon Spark, Sage Spark, and a host of other things. My Sage Sin soloed Pole and Nob. "OMGAH, you didn't have Purify!" Sure I did. I just Sage Sparked every time I got debuffed. What's the big deal?

    Comes down to, there's a point where looking for a cleric that doesn't exist for 2 hours on WC to do something that takes 30 minutes isn't worth it anymore. It's becoming harder and harder to find a Cleric for FCC. Sometimes there are periods of time of up to 4 hours in the evening when whatever squad I'm in can't find a Cleric, or a Mystic, and we decide to just roll without.

    Same with Barbs. I'm becoming adept at tanking/pulling FCC with my BM.

    But, to the question of are clerics being replaced? Only if I can't find one when I need one. >_>

    ^This basically, when on my mystic, I get puzzled into why there is 90+ squads shouting for a cleric and they don't include a mystic in the healing area, on my mystic, It's a total breeze keeping the squad alive, so I do both DD the boss with plant+pet+my self whilst giving the heals needed, over half the bosses we kill, I just put down vital herb and let the healings role.

    Because when we ask for cleric for FC or any instance, none bothered to reply. So we asked for mystic, and voila!b:bye

    On sanctuary finding clerics for bh takes time, 5~30 minutes for bh 69 and below. Most of the time i found if the bm is tanking and has bp on bh 59 and lower a mystic will do. In bh 79 and higher a mystic is needed at most. Haven't tried 99. BH 69 can be done with a mystic only if the tank is 4aps+ with good dd and blessing.

    They don't replace cleric, just that clerics are not found. When i join vana squads or fcc squads they are always there, but they don't want to do bh, there are actually only a handful clerics who do bh. That is why i gave up asking for them. Same thing with barbs. If tanks and healers are not pitching in most of the time, people will find alternatives.

    The sad thing is, they all come popping out during 2x events and during non 2x event they go in hibernation.
