1) Did you check to see if your equipment needed repaired?
2) Did you check the status of the mob you were attacking?0 -

Which would be the cause of much consternation, hm? Didn't do anything differently, and yet damage dropped... the above would probably explain it perfectly.0 -
buffing?0

Certain skills give benefits for a time period when casted on some one, these are usually called "buffs"0 -
Plume Shot do less damage to mobs with higher deffense or with the status "Increased Defense", probably this was the cause.0

Spirit's Gift is the name of the magic attack buff skill (the buff icon is labeled "Intuition".)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

The buff makes no difference to a physical attack; I think it was the status of your mob.0

Plume shot is based off m.atk. Spirit's Gift increases m.atk. OP was doing the higher damage until she died. Death removes buffs.
I'd think it's fairly obvious by now that it's just that she lost the buff someone used on her when she died.0 -
on my cleric, i hated ranged mobs, and avoided them whenever possible
just dont do them if they are to hard┌─┐

I have made this mistake before on my alt cleric (1st one i played)... It is not the quest, it is plume shot itself. You get hit again on physical hits after it hits you once, such as bow shots or even melee hits. Finish of the mob with great cyclone or some other skill instead. Do not risk killing yourself with plume shot on archer/melee mobs.
Another tip, ranged mobs are far too easy. Just go up close to them, they do 50% damage if you are 4 meters from them or even closer. That's a really huge mistake for a mage to fight an archer from far, they will do full damage. They might kite you but always make sure you tag them. Trust me, it works.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Actually that is Celestial Guardian's Seal also know as HP/MP buff...Spirit's Gift is one that adds magic dmg but learned at lv29 after becoming Aware of Harmony b:chuckle0 -

Correction, Death removes MOST buffs. While I am sure in this instance all buffs that are cast on a cleric would be removed... there are in fact some buffs that remain in place after a person dies. Most notably some of the Seeker's self buffs remain in effect after a death because they are applied to the seeker's weapon, not the seeker's personage.
EDIT: apologies for the slightly off topic rant, but I wanted to clarify the issues of Buffs vs. Death.Acc 1: TolanSky ~ ● Seeker / Daearena ~ Mystic / ThornLily ~ Veno

To continue your rant... Psychic's Soul of Vengeance remains after death.b:bye0 -
Besides buffs, remember that your attack damage is a range. And some weapons (namely patakas) have a relatively huge range whereas others (namely wands) have a relatively small range at the expense of a lower maximum attack.
So if you're using a pataka or even a magic sword, you'll notice that you'll have a variance in the damage you deal. This is normal, by design, and fully expected.
If you don't like seeing that number vary, use a wand. Just be aware that your hits won't be as high as the high end of the wider-damage-range weapons.
Note that this is the case for all 3 of the original magic-weapon-using classes. I don't really play the newer magic classes, so I don't know the details of those very well. (And the "physical" classes are a whole 'nother ballgame...)
Also, as a tip to a lower-level cleric fighting ranged magic mobs: use your Great Cyclone to pull the mob at the maximum casting range to make it take longer to get within range of being able to attack you, due to the skill's chance of inducing a Slow effect. Also, take note of how much your different skills deal on different kinds of mobs, as some types are more susceptible to magic damage and some to physical damage. At your level, only Plume Shot will do physical damage, so that's often a good choice against magic monsters with low physical defenses.
And, finally, don't be afraid of using Plume Shell to survive against those physical mobs. We have it for a reason. It's not a guarantee that you'll live through the tougher ones, but it is certainly better than not doing much to avoid death. b:victory[sigpic][/sigpic]
