I understand that perfect world has no widescreen support however from what I understand this has been a problem for about 4 years now (since u came out?) - Do you guys even have any intention of fixing this?

I have a new widescreen monitor and part of a game is in the graphics and playing on a widescreen of 1920x1080 resolution and having to place the game on 1280x1024 makes it look blurry as well as makes all my characters look like dwarves... I have actually given up on perfect world.

I was actually getting back into the MMO and planning on actually putting some money into whatever I play so I can actually get into the game and Perfect World was a the top of the list of great games to play but if I cant even utilize my huge 24 inch wide screen monitor with a brand new graphics card which allows me to play on the maximum settings, then whats the point of playing.

After four years I'd expect you guys to be able to fix something as small as this. If you ever do fix it send me an email.

Actually, the game came to be around 2005 or so.

Try playing window mode and change the size of ur client by going to the corner of it and you'll see an arrow. o:

unfortunately that does not fix it at all. The problem was not that there is no widescreen option or that wide screen does not work but when it is turned on or when you do it in windowed mode as you suggest the map gets cut off. You will notice that in window mode when in shorted the sides eventually you can see your character in the background and the map in the middle when u widen it what happens is the bottom and top of the map gets cut off no longer allowing you to visit the tide-born cities. I think its sloppy that something probably probably takes less than an hour has not been fixed after 4 years. And yes perfect world has been around much longer than 2 years.

It's not an issue of widescreen support, the reason the map gets cut off is because the resolution the map is drawn in isn't widescreen.

As for why the map isn't drawn in widescreen: The game is old and was published first in a time when widescreen monitors were not the minimal standard.

Unfortunately, the teleport and game world maps are only fully viewable in a 4:3 aspect ratio, not a 16:9. This has been a long known issue since the original game was released many years ago.

To work around this issue, you can run the game in windowed mode in a more square shaped resolution so that you can see the map. Not a pretty solution, but the only solution that allows you to see the full map.

is there ever going to be a work around for this? like maybe have them re-draw the map so widescreen users which is growing more and more wont have to switch back and forth every time they want to teleport. i know its an old game but honestly non-widescreens are not being sold as much as you'd think.

This is just plain sad. I actually really enjoy playing at 1920x1080 aside from this issue.

Just does not seem to make much sense to have a game that supports wide resolutions, and then have a map that does not fit to those parameters.

Some simple solutions to fix this would be make the map to be 'drag-able' so when you want to use the teleports off the viewing area, simply click and drag to view, like you can do during zoom mode when you just view the map. Or considering the amount of money people pay to play this game, maybe developers could take a suggestion and actually provide some customer service.

Please do not continue to ignore this seemingly small issue! It may not seem like much, but it likely degrades the quality of gaming for plenty of people.

Edit - Also consider this... Perhaps the majority of your widescreen players are also among your heavy cash shoppers? I'm just thinking it seems more likely that one with nice 1080 HDTV for monitor is probably also spending money on this game. Fix this map!

Unfortunately, PWI was developed years ago before widescreen aspect rations where mainstream. The only way to see the world and teleport maps is to resize the game to run in 4:3 ration (more square). Putting the game into windowed mode to do this works best. You can click and drag the game window to the size you need while playing so that you can see the whole map.

I know this may not be the answer you guys are looking for b:infuriated but it is what we can provide for you at this time.

you guys are full of it. I am a programmer myself and I know a thing or two. You problem is that you set the map to be respective to the width of the screen as opposed to the height of the screen. If you simply reprogrammed it to abide by the height instead of the width it would easily solve the problem. The sides of the screen would show the game playing behind the map but it would be an acceptable fix for all your players.

I used to play PWI on my old account and I basically left the game complete after I purchased my new computer and realized I could not play it on maximum resolution. When I placed it in 4:3 it stretched and looked awkward. When I played in widescreen it messed up the map, and working in windowed mode and having to resize all the time was not acceptable.

    1. Necro

    2. map got fixed and got a serious upgrade a while back.

    3. I've never seen the client not adjust before. It would have been the way you had the resolution set and/or a limitation of your graphics card. (say if you're viewing fullscreen and have the resolution set to 800x600 when your actual monitor resolution is 1200x800, then there's a good chance that your video card will stretch it like you described. That is common on laptops.)
