The Dye Economy is Dying

Buying hot color packs are honestly not the best choice in matters of making money. Unless, of course, you plan to invest a lot and manage to score a black/white/red dye. But ... id rather not try my luck on that, im sure a lot of people wouldnt either.
anyways, the dye economy just, really isnt much of one there. Its hard to find a specific color dye you need. a majority of the people playing this game cant or wont buy the hot color packs because they know they wont get the color they need or enough of them. the main reason people buy these in the first place is to try their luck at getting a black/white dye. a lot of fashion needs 10+ dyes and now it could take days or weeks to find that many dyes in 1 specific color.
So, maybe a trade system could be installed. Perhaps, trade a number of random dyes for 1 pure color dye. It could be implemented into the Seamstress.
But of course, we wouldnt want to crush the dye market. It would be best to make the amount of random dyes either the same or more in cost to get the perfect color dye.
example, random dyes on my server is about 250k each? maybe 300k? lets say 300k (but cheaper if you just bought gold from AH and bought from the boutique).
a more undesired color dye (like green, yellow, brown, orange, some blues, purples, etc) is usually about 500k. sometimes i see them up to 1 mill, but im not sure if they really sell for that price. anyways, an amount of random dyes to trade these for would be, say, 3-4 random dyes for 1 perfect color dye. so, 4 random dyes x 300k each = 1.2 mill.
colors such as red/white/black seem to sell for like 3mill, so about 10-12 random dyes for 1 of these perfect color dyes. 12 random dyes x 300k each = 3.6 mill.
anyways, these random dye amounts are obviously not "set in stone," just suggestions. this may still keep the hot color pack sales steady, as people seem to like to take chances with this, but also raise the sales of random dye packs, as they would not only be used to just random dye, but to trade in too. more uses of an item = need more of it = more selling of the item.

This is a good idea. It is difficult to find even one person vending over 3 dyes of the same color - IF - you can even find someone vending dyes.0

Maybe pvpers just aren't that interested in fashion?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

the entire PWI economy is dying

They should remove dye all together. Make it free to get clothes in any color you want.
There are lots of people that simply don't buy fashion because they don't want to be stuck with an ugly color. Dyes end up costing PWI money by discouraging fashion.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Or at least make the cost of dying reasonable.
I think a lot of things need their prices reset to reflect the new cost of gold. Dyes and Perfect Hammers and Marriage come to mind.AKA PermaSpark, Heartshatter0 -
i agree dyes is always another expensive feature that comes with the game. but lets be honest here, PWI wont remove dyes, they make a killing on those people that want perfect matching outfits and such.
adding pure dyes to the boutique permanently would be a simple way to also get the pure dyes everyone wants. but if they put higher prices on dyes such as black, white, and red, then people might go on a "color discrimination" rage lol.
if not that, they could at least have a dye sale more often, or maybe a random colored pure dye in the shop for a week, every week, but erm, less than 2 gold per dye? 2mill+ per dye is crazy, on normal colors anyways. all ive seen in the boutique is black, white, red, pink (valentines day), and green shades (st Patricks day). theres a lot of other color dyes that are left out from that (blues, yellow, oranges, brown, cream, grey, purples, etc).
i am glad to see that there is sometimes a pack of dyes for sale in the bidding hall at times. i also wish that could be more common also. but in there ive only seen like perfect pink, "sandy" or something maybe, some red perhaps, i dont remember. just always restrictions on colors.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I noticed the dye community is horrible on HL, but on DW last i checked, it was booming. b:surrender[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

It really isn't booming. Most shops only have black, red, and white dyes and try and sell for 5mil+. The other dyes are nearly nonexistant. I'm stuck spending so much more money on random dyes than the actual fashion and even then I have to settle for an outfit in black.
EDIT: Just checked and found two or three reasonable shops[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I did say last i checked b:chuckle Don't log in much except for screenshots. But i do remember multiple shops as compared to HL's non-existant ones. Literally no one selling any nice dyes for days at a time last i played.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

They should make we select our clothes colors, not like if you go on a store and buy everything at random >_>
Not everyone thinks that white and black are the best color choices, people use then for show that they are rich, but some clothes lose all the details when go pure white or black (and people still use them...), myself was trying to get a pink set for combine with my char, but got vomit green color instead and yellow.0 -
I agree, the dye economy is sure enough is dying. But can it include tye-dye? Just a suggestion.0

I think I'm the first HT'r to post on this thread. Agreed. On Heaven's Tear, the only dye economy comes from these three shops that sell pigments for... I wouldn't say overpriced, but it's still kind of high (4m for black or white) Other than that, there are shops that sell odds and ends of one or two dyes occasionally. Some people stand by the Seamstress and sell a ton of random dyes (the price of those has been about 240k due to the sale in the cs).
^ That's an observation from just standing and looking around in West Archosaur.^
I shouldn't have to spend 36m to dye a 9pigment dress that will sell a max of 10m b:surrender Could be doing better things with that coin...0 -
2 random dies for a pure die is more then enough
couse you need the double amount of random dies to die everything in a single color0 -

I recognize that PWI is a money-making venture, but the whole random dye thing is inequitable. I tried dyeing a skirt randomly and the original color came up twice. That was twelve dyes wasted.
I say: 1. You let us pick our color when we first buy the outfit. Make such "custom" outfits cost twice as much as their "off-the-rack" versions. (Bottoms normally costing 6 gold for random color could cost 12 gold, for example.)
and 2. When randomly dyeing your clothes, the color you came in with should not come up as an option or should cost nothing. Because the game is "free", a paying customer should never get nothing for their money.0 -

I decided to sell my school girl outfit (Top/skirt/shoes/ and pigtails) to earn gold to buy white dye. I only made 5mil off of my pure gray colored outfit. I hope I didnt sell it for too low. b:shy But I have the kitty outfit now, with the kitty ears/hair. I want it pure white, but I dont think 5 mil is going to do anything for me. HT doesn't have any vendors with white pigments. But I hear they are horribly expensive.0 -

There is a vendor that sells mass amounts of pigments in West Archosaur. It's one person with three shops by the banker. This person sells almost every kind of pigment for ridiculous prices (I'm not defending them anymore.). They sell about 30+ white and black pigments for 4m each, they also seem to be the deciding factor for dye economy on HT. Irritating, but they always have them. Hope that helps a little. b:angry0
