Attitude of the player base

ya know, I really didn't read much past the OP's post.....

Seriously though, you're just now figuring this out?

It's been like this pretty much since the RT expansion, Oracles, and BH were introduced.

Now instead of the hardcore players that worked their way up, anyone can buy their e-peen. Once that happened, the game filled with worthless noobs that only care about themselves, their gear, and their e-peen. All PWE cares about is the money, not the failing social quality of the game.

The majority of the real gamers are gone.

If you know the story of Perfect World then you know that:

- The world was filled up with wraiths.
- Pan Gu or w/e killed em - I believe the mobs QQed bout this a lot o.o!

- We had to get an aliance between races in order to fight them. (player base you were talking about 3 years ago)

What happens now?
Now that our kind is powerfull enough to slay any kind of wraith, we fight again, against each other in order to control perfect world.

People wanting more power means tougher wars/fights against eachother even between our own races.

The new trials I think can be the strong strike we were waiting for, or probably not, probably something even greater will come in.

What will happen next?

If you think about it, everything that has been happening in-game is some-what linked to the storyline o.o was this secretly intended? or was it mere coincidence?

I've been playing since 12-12-2008 and yeah, it was better back then but ONLY because there was at least 3x as many players as there is now. The quality of the people hasn't changed.

But yeah seriously, you can't say anything has a bad community till you've played LoL or DotA.

PWI's community is fine.
It's the game itself that's wrong.

Have to disagree, this game has the worst community. Granted its my first f2p game, but im still amazed by the amount of scammers, cutthroats, selfish arseholes ...attention seekers...etc etc....its even worse then the people i have to deal with IRL.

To answer your question, the attitudes have changed due to content. Current day PWI caters to the instant gratification crowd. The attitude of "I want it, and I want it now" stems from many of the following changes to the game we've seen over the past few years:

Lottery Packs - A simple right click and you have the potential to get high tier items. Even the minimal prize of tokens is a major time saver compared to what was required prior to packs.

Hyper Stones - x12 exp. There is really little more to say, especially after they changed FC into an experience dungeon. Much faster leveling ever since the introduction of hypers.

BH - First you could do one a day. Then you could do three a day. A significant boost in the amount of exp you could earn daily from when there was no BH.

Rep and Chips in Cash Shop - What once took a considerably long time to acquire, is now relatively easy to obtain comparatively.

APS - Changed the dynamics of squads. Certainly changed the time required for farming. Arguably makes a large amount of game content... very easy.

Blessings - Made for easier and faster gameplay. Logging into FaceBook is not an ingame achievement., yet it yields a hefty reward.


I'm sure there are plenty more examples, but I am getting a bit tired. The point is, changes such as the ones I listed above gave players the capability of achieving things faster than ever before. This attracted players that are in favor of achieving things quickly. It also required older players that wanted to continue playing PWI to adapt.

In the end, and after much evolution... current day pwi just doesn't involve many of the activities it did when it was a new game. Grinding and questing are just two examples of outdated ingame objectives due to much more efficient alternatives. These alternatives provide us with a game where, sadly, many people value quick progression more than slow progression with more forced interaction.

You people are exaggerating the bad side of the community. When you walk around arch, are the majority of them spamming in chat/scamming? No, they're all doing their own stuff.
There's a few attention seekers on world chat, but that's only a handful. That's NOT a good representation of the entire community.

in my two months here then in my entire stay in my previous p2p mmo.

When PWI started no one knew how to play it and everyone was low level and everyone was waiting to see what their next FB was and it was fun. Now the level 100's and above run the game. THEY set the prices on things including gold. they are all about their "endgame" gear so TW is now about gear. If you not level 100+ with millions of coins invested in gear then TW is something you hear about but rarely do. Now the game is all about double drops, hyperstones and pwrleveling.

As a cleric I used to really enjoy squads who survived because they worked together well. recently I was invited to a squad of 3 level 100s who were already dead and scattered through Nightscream. The "tank" constantly aggro'd everything in sight getting everyone killed several times. I tried to tell him to stop running ahead and he told me to stop telling him how to play and that they were all level 100 and didn't need a cleric anyway. REALLY? My level 80 cleric was invited because they were all DEAD so they needed a cleric and common sense. Apparently they felt they didn't need either so I left them there.This was a perfect example of what we all know as pwrleveling without EVER learning to play the game.

I think it would change everything if some TW had level caps so the majority of the players could do TWs. Even better, what if TW or some other event had to be done with only skills and no expensive armor! Wouldn't that show a lot of players how little they really know about playing their character!

Sorry for the rant!

One last thought. Every game has a lifecycle. In the beginning everyone is new and trying to learn everything about the game. Then the players getting to the top levels will make new characters, leveling faster because they already know the game, keep looking for new content and eventually move on to other games. Only by attracting new players willing to start at the beginning can a game continue. I like PWI and would like to see more things for low and middle level players. Stop pampering the top levels eventually everyone moves on.
(although I am pretty sure the top levels are probably the most active Cash shop users)
