Private Server email?

So I'm an english player, with english sallected as my prefered e-mail language. And yet...I got an email from a private server...which of course is in french...Has anyone else gotten this? Or does anyone know if its actually junk?

    I got it too and my girlfriend as well.

    I checked the site. It says on the site "Private Server".

    I just don't know how they got my pwi mailaddress which I only use for PWI.

    But I think, it has nothing todo with PWI.

    Maybe a GM (frankie) can say something to it.

    If needed I can also post the original mail here.

    I got it as well, at a couple of email addresses.

    I think someone lost their customer database... oops.

    I thought it was some PServer and binned it instantly.

    ~Interested in how they got my main email adress tho. (I use that one for my main PW account and all the other sites I joined "for real". As opposed to my other acc I use for stuff I suspect might send me junk and stuff :p)

    I haven't seen any emails on either of my accounts from PWFrance....

    I too received this email from PWFrance. It did say it was a private server, and it was the exact email others received.

    If PWI lost their customer information.....I am going to be majorly pissed off. I don't know how this PWFrance got my email, but I don't need to be spammed with **** from the french.

    I demand an explanation at once. If there was a customer information leak, there better not have been a leak of more sensitive information, such as credit card numbers, online payment accounts or addresses.

    No idea how and why 'pwfrance' would send something to my email address but yeah...

    I am soooo going to laugh if it's pwi's fault for this spam...b:chuckleb:shocked

    Seeing as how they managed to steal the Genies, Tb, and EG files from PWI, I'm gonna say its fair to assume they stole the e-mails to many people's accounts too. Which does open the door to them being the ones that "****" all these peoples accounts...And further proves the incompetence of PWE


    Now if only they'd stop being stereotypical french and share those files, I'd very much like to play on a server with genies and no TB/EG.

    Files were stolen from an E3 show, not directly from PWE's server database.
    Pwfrance getting a hold of player's email addresses is something unrelated (if this is actually the case).

    They are sharing those files... but for a price, and a rather big one from what I hear.
    They seem to be pretty selective though of who they choose, and they seem pretty biased against anything english.

    If our database had been compromised, it wouldn't have only been a few people getting this email - everyone would have it.


    There are other possible explanations, for example it's quite possible that the people who've received the email are all members of some other gaming website (like mmosite/massively/etc) and the private server gained access to these email addresses through either legal or illegal means.


    In any case, please know that we do not have access to your personal billing info (i.e. credit card/paypal/google checkout), as those things are held by the payment companies themselves. So if anyone hypothetically gained access to what we have, that financial stuff would not be part of it.


    Still, if anyone else has received the email referenced in this thread, I ask that you please send me a private message to let me know.
