    My Golden Rules of Dueling:

Do weird stuff. Use skills you don't normally use. Jump around. Generally, give the opponent every opportunity to easily win. I've never taken duels seriously. It's not PvP and doesn't really help much in learning how to PK.

Duels don't matter. Do anything you want in them.

Yeah duels and pvp cant really be compared, especially if said rules (no heals nor genie) are stated.

But you can learn from duels, you can learn your enemy strategy sometimes.

If i duel a person and i managed to get used on how he rolls, next time we met on pvp ground ill have a lil advantage.

This only applies to person using the character and not the class itself.

A duel is a lot like PvP with training wheels. I'll help you learn, but a lot of really good dueling tactics will leave you vulnerable and get you killed in PvP.

Benefit of duels? To allow people to try out skills or gain chi in dungeons if they can't find a mob or NPC to punch

Downside? They in no way represent PK of the current times :(
Nothing worthwhile to mention here, enjoy the animated signature~

But if you "harcore" duel the only difference from 1vs1 pk is the charm and some skills effect like reflects

I know anyway that duels not rapresent much pvp, but im talking about strategy based on people, not charaters

I hate dueling because of all the arbitrary rules that I'm somehow supposed to know and keep track of.

On the few occasions I've accepted a duel from a stranger my strategy is to run/jump/fly away and chuckle at all the complaining and trash-talking about my cowardice. Then when the timer runs out I insist it was because we're so evenly matched in skill.

The only rule for me about duel is, against sacer don't let him start the battle with 10.000 heals casted before, I think that this is cheat, but like Michael spoke: duels are for you have fun.

This. Some people go "LOL You used a pot!" after dueling me, using that as the reason why they lost against a veno. I have the pots for a reason, to keep me alive. I don't care what I'm doing, that's their job and it's what I will use them for. If other people are too stupid to use pots/genies/stuns/whatever then that's their problem. It's like sins QQing when they send me a random duel and I cast bramble then feral concentration and let them off their self against bramble. Not my fault they don't have the sense to wait for Feral to wear off.

Dueling transcends winning and losing. I see beauty in a duel between two BMs with spears trying to avoid each other's stuns using leaps; whereas in PK, this beauty is lost to an epileptic seizure of fisting.

I think the only thing that duels are usefull for is to plot against a pker, while in duel, the pker will not tick his charm aka fast death.

i feel pots and genies only delay the inevitable....and a waste of coins/time. if this person outclasses me, he will kill me regardless only takes abit longer.

i kinda like your analogy, indeed dueling is all abt countering ur opponents moves and trying to get the upperhand. Pk is more brutal tho yet more realstic, as long as your target is dead everything goes...no waiting for chi to be full....cooldowns to be up etc.
