Hey folks,

I've been interested to try this, but I can't get passed making a name for my toon. I can't stand to have something stupid and it says all the ones I try are taken.

Any advice?

    Latin is always a nice fallback for names, or combining several names together.

    My personal fave for name choosing however is storys / descriptions combined with use of a thesaurus. Even if you dont role play at all ingame, making a name can be easier if you think of the characters life.

    As an example, my assassin is called Naivety, largely because she is innocence incarnate (Innocence was taken, of course, hence thesaurus) and has a view of the world entirely biased towards everything being fantastic. She was also one of the first Sage Assassins on my server but thats a different topic and choice issue (You dont have to care till level 89).

    Deteriorate was supposed to be my Demon sin for farming but she never passed 10 lol.

    This game does not suck...people who say that, obviously shouldn't still be around...if it sucks GTFO. Hmm naming chars is incredible hard these days, because so many people play this game and so many have played that quit but their chars are still around. I've thought of the most original names before (I thought so) and it was taken...so all I can say is goodluck and try and be creative. Choose a name you really like and try changing it a bit. A lot of people add numbers to their names, some add for example xXNameXx some use _ between names for example Light_Blade some have even gotten creative and used captial l instead of I or I instead of l. So yeah, naming your char can take very long, but remember you cannot change it once you've named it.

    Just make a typical japanese/anime/manga derived name, shove a "desu"/"sama"/"chan"/nothing at the end and boom you have a unique name that's exactly the same as everyone else's.

    The names in PWI I tend to remember the most are names that use the English language and real words.

    Not like this archer's name though, I'm talking about something that makes sense.

    Names that are random syllables strung together might sound cool, but they generally don't mean anything.

    Maybe I missed it. Did you say what class? I know the name of my cleric has no originality, but try to pick something for the class. My first fail cleric was Klarik
    Good, huh? Lol My sin is called Strut because that's all those fish guys do.
    I just tried to pick something for the class, but something easy to remember.
    Klarik should be available because I deleted him.
    Sin - Shadow_Creep. Lol
    Archer - Legless. Lol
    Psychic - Sidekick

    I'm getting good at these. Lol

    Funny is memorable. I tried to name my polar bear mount Mortimer but it wouldn't let me. Lol

    I combined my favorite names with another name or with another letter of the alphabet. Like my name is Mitachi. Itachi is my favorite char from Naruto, so i added an M to Itachi.b:cute

    I took my character names from books that I liked and added the character's title to it. It really just takes a little bit of thought and some trial and error, so good luck.

    I almost do what Mitachi does b:chuckle

    I start out with my favourite letter. -> K

    Look at my friends names. -> Katelyn

    Morph their name. ->Kait

    Add something to it. -> ica

    Bam got a new name. ->Kaitica

    Lolz.

    I do a similar thing. When I'm bored I go on name generators and keep a notepad file on my desktop with names that I personally like from the generators to try using on games. Sometimes they're free (until I take them), other times already taken. I can always revisit the generators to get new names for different characters.

    I tend to find names of varying types to go with different char types. Maybe a tougher sounding name for a standard melee (hey, gotta be tough to be a meatshield) and a more mystical or softer name for a caster. Sometimes I do a sneaky sounding name for light armor rogue classes (Archer/Sin types).

    People ask "What's in a name?" I say: Tons of fun~

    have you tried alternative languages? As was mentioned earlier Latin is a nice alternative language (though a fairly obvious one). I also suggest Gaelic, one of several Germanic Languages, or even Hindi that has been romanized. Heck even Romanji (romanized Kanji aka Japanese) might present some interesting options for some names.

    I knew a guy from another place that had two names

    one was abcdefghij and the other was 1234567890

    we just called him Alphabet or Numbers :p
