Wyvern Purify

My new Cleric (BabaPriest) is doing BH51 runs regularly now.
I knew about Wyvern's curse, but didn't know how to spot it. I asked around and was told to look for the curse icon to show up under the Barb/Tanks portrait to know when to purify them. Another post said to look for Wyvern to pounce on both front feet as a tip off.
The icon approach seems to work fine for us, however on a few runs, we have not seen the icon show up at all while doing Wyvern.
Does Wyvern only use this curse some of the time, or is there something Barbs do to prevent/cancel it themselves? Does it get cast but not show up as an icon?
I would appreciate clarification, thanks.

wyvern use his curse completely random (judging from all the bh51 i did to lvl seeker from 60 to 70).
Sometimes, he used it a lot, like two times in 10 seconds (b:shocked it happened to me) or every minutes. Sometimes he use it once in the middle of the fight. I even did a bh51 were he did not use it (was easy).
So, i think he use it when he wants, but i dont think you cant interupt it....curse icon appear before his animation for it normally.
P.S if im wrong, i dont mind being told (no insult tought)Ebrithalia -Sage Seeker0 -
Wyverns amp damage debuff icon is a reddish flame looking thing. It usually appears (as do most debuffs/curses) at the front of all the other buffs, so most likely in front of the Cleric HP regen buff. He casts it only on the character taking the aggro.
The debuff can be cancelled by a Barb skill, possibly one of the Genie skills too, so if you are always squadding with a skilled Barb that may be why you don't see it. Otherwise it will usually appear every 10 -20 seconds (guestimate).0 -

Have a bm HF something, look at the icon, amazingGifs are hard to make work here0 -
Yes it looks exactly like HF icon. Its called Curse and its works like Amplify Dmg. ITs random sometimes , barb cancel it (sometimes accidentally ) with Alacricity of the beast , or he never uses it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I can't remember exactly the max number of shown buffs/debuffs I think its 8 or 10. If you have more than 8/10then you would not see it also. Bit of a headache in FF on that Nix **** if you are trying to do a good job
Another good sign is when big chunks of HP start mysteriously disappearing XDPWI b:bye0 -

Debuffs show in front of the buffs...
But if you have 8-10 debuffs your normally gonna die b:chuckle0 -
Ha ha my bad, been long time since I played, seems I was confused about which way round it was XD and yeah if you have too many debuffs you can't see your buffs Which makes this post absolutely useless b:surrenderPWI b:bye0

The curse is random it seems. Once he spammed it so much Purify (7) couldn't cool down fast enough and the barb died. Then we almost squad wiped.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

I would venture to say that if you have a decently geared Barb, and the Cleric also has high Mag, you can easily out-heal the Amp Damage curse. What probably happened was that you were too concerned about Purifying and forgot to keep the IH nicely stacked. I think you can have up to 7 IH stacked at once. Healing is the priority, Purifying is Secondary. When you see a good Mystic easily handle healing for Wyvern you'll understand that you can outheal the Curse.
The only time I've ever had trouble is when no Barb is present and either a low HP Sin or BM is tanking. Then you really have to have your IH fully stacked.0 -
Wow, I really learned allot by asking one question. I now suspect that when it happened to me, I was A) teamed with a pretty good barb who was on top of it and it was one of those times the Boss either did not do it at all or only did it once or twice.
Good tip about the curses appearing at the left, as I was scanning all the icons.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Hard to miss. It's the big bright reddish-orange icon.
The primary indicator of him using it, though is when he does a big stomp. This usually after about 4-5 attacks. The Infernal City..0
