    Why would you laugh at that? With high refines on G16, who the hell needs citrine shards? All that defense is going to be multiplied when he goes tiger form, so it would be worth it even with the diminishing returns. I would have rolled Jades though, if I could afford R9, just sayin'.

    High refines on r9 armor does not need citrine shards necessarily, however garnets kinda ruin the defenses of the gear, simply because of the law of diminishing returns. Yes, you gain more physical defense but it does not help you out immensely in the long run.

    Filling that gear with sapphires, on the other hand, would be much more useful for someone with heavy armor, especially if they don't want to have citrines...although it should be said that a barb with more hp boosters makes you a wall.

    As a barb, getting that last 1-2% base physical reduction can still be worth it, considering people can nail you for 3k a hit 5 times per second while you have HA. So 1% base reduction to that would shave 30damage off that, so about 150 HP a second. For the duration of a demon spark, that is 1800 HP saved, with just a 1% bump in base reduciton. Just statistics, not arguing one gear build over another. Then again, I think if I had full R9, I would prolly link shabby turqoises to everything just to be a troll. Sad part is, I would still steamroll 95% of the server population that way.

    That is one of the great things about this game and other games of this type, that within the limits of the game, we get to decide for ourselves how we want to play it.
    We all have our opinions on what is better and worse for a particular situation and the ability to prove it with calculations and so forth, but that doesn't mean we get to force those opinions on other people. The decisions a player makes, he/she makes for themselves.

    In my opinion (that I can't and don't want to force on anyone else) we also should not make fun of a person for his/her decisions.

    Also, aren't you supposed to black out or censor another players name when you post pictures of them without their permission.

    Eh... *shrugs* it's not bad.

    Considering Incomparables are a sign that, "These are not my end-game shards. They're just temporary," I'd say the choice is actually a pretty reasonable one.

    I put my best-guess of their stats into Asterelle's Socket Calculator, and Incomparable Garnets seem like a cheap way to get decent physical defense while you're busy saving up for Jades.

    Or is 48k hp with full +12 refines not enough HP to take a few hits?

    Is not good (considering is a full r9 with average high refines) but its acceptable. As many have said already those probably arent his end-game shards.


    And as other have said, we can all build and shard for our own way of playing so dont just flame a barb with r9 if he's going full garnets...Is not as bad as a cleric sharding garnets on weapon for plume shot.
