I saw a big spender raging that her big spender friend got banned for Gooning in DW the other day. They argued that they should be getting better customer service if they spent thousands of dollars in real life money. I told her that if she stole cookies at walmart, they'd throw her out and it doesn't matter how much money she spent. She replied that it wouldn't be right if the walmart people told her to eat the cookies. I told her no GM in game has ever told people to go goon glitching, and expressly said it would be bannable. She still felt she and her friend should be above the rules. True Story

Oh wow.. they're really banning huh... OH GOD NO!!! Wait..I mean.. Oh, that's cool. Yeah, if I act like I don't care they won't think I gooned my Cleric to 96... phew, good plan Zan.

I hope you openly laughed AT them... lol I sure laughed while reading your story. In what is marketed as a FREE to PLAY game... if you spend your money on the game thats on YOUR shoulders and gives NO extra special treatment. What really makes it funny to think on top of thinking they should get special treatment... comes after they admit they committing the crime.

Didn't ask, didn't care. I suspect it was longer than 3 days consider how worked up she was over it. She was even proclaiming that she was gonna rage quit the game since her friend got banned. Which is just doing the GMs job for them and is in no way a punishment if you're goon glitching yourself. But it's also very possible she was blowing everything out of proportion.

    @Zan

So... what does it stand for? I see this acronym all the time and still can't figure out what the j is for.

    Jail Frost Covered. (JFC)

The Jail is part of the name of the quest for the third boss
Nothing worthwhile to mention here, enjoy the animated signature~

If this is true, then everything PWI has ever done wrong in the past is immediately forgiven, and I shall never speak ill of them ever again.

OK, well, maybe that's a bit of an overstatement, but nevertheless it would be very good news indeed.

i would have to see this to believe it. but if it's true, i'll still be disappointed due the **** lenth of time it took for them to get their ***** in gear. the damage is pretty much done at this ponit. they basically gave those to took years to get to end game a slap in the face and allowed the game to be flooded with ppl who level upp fast but don't take the time to learn their class.

not if they deleted every character that used the glich then that would make my day. mostly due to the fact that those people would pop into the forums and rage, giving me a great deal of amusement;)

Endgame is lvl 100+, not 105.

And sounds to me like you're mad about power leveling more than you're mad about gooning.

Plvling a character from 60-70 is much less of an offense than, say, doing it from lv1... class knowledge or no class knowledge. But none of it would even be a gray area if they'd implement a Lv75 requirement to enter FF. >_>

Hmmm, being honest people can exploit all they want, 50% if not 80% of the people of this game will be leaving for the new game releases of 2012.

Have your pew pew while you can and enjoy the remaining time left b:victory

People say theyre getting banned from using exploits, being honest I have only heard of 1 being banned in HT because of it, and he was indeed, not caught in action by a GM, it was probably a ticket report.

I know more people that have been banned for stupid reasons as using "proxies" when they don't even know what a proxy is, or how to use it, lmao.

Something to ponder here: I myself am in agreement that the people who slogged and worked hard to gain their levels are having a devaluation of their efforts by the exploit.

The bigger picture though is this: The error on coding that allows this glitch to happen..... is exactly that... an error in coding. Now then... since they took the trouble to outlaw use of this, the developers, GM's etc are aware of it and have been aware of it for some considerable time. Therefore they have had ample time to patch the code, correct the code or otherwise prevent the glitch from functioning as it does.

Therefore we are talking about a particular function being bannable if used... they are outlawing people from availing themselves of an error they made.
This is analogous to say... a cable company making a poor design of their decoder box such that if a small child inserts a cookie where the card should go, the box decodes all channels for free with no subscription.
This would annoy those customers who paid for their channels and rightly so. However would there be any justifcation in the cable company taking legal action against people who had watched channels they had not paid for, when their own design error aqllowed this to occur?

As a parting shot on the matter.. consider this. The glitch is a function of the code that is implemented at present.

Therefore the game "works as designed". The glitch is in effect no more than a design feature... because it has been designed (albeit erroneously) to work in this specific way.

If the game (or product for analogy) is faulty.. as the suggestion seems to be.. then it is not a fit for purpose product and needs to be either withdrawn, or to have corrective action carried out asap ( analagous to a recall if you will).

If I make a product that is faulty and able to be used for purposes beyond what it was intended for.. I am damned sure I wouldnt have the audacity and nerve to QQ that people were taking advantage of its additional features.. and I sure as heck wouldnt have the bare faced cheek to lay charges at the door of those who used it in that manner.

They have us all looking in the wrong direction on this.. the blame, responsibility, and incompetence lies fairly and squarely at PWI's door.

Game works as designed folks end of story!!!

Leveling speed != how good a player is at their class. Let me break it down.

    1) Leveling via quests/grinding the old school way. Spam the same 1 2 3 skills or you macro it and kill kill kill?

    2) Pleveling via frost, Spam the lesser 1 2 3 skills and kill kill kill?

I think its bull**** how anyone thinks spending months doing option one will make them more knowledgeable about their class as compared to spending less time with option 2.

And, u could probably spend a few hours dueling, running random instances to get a solid idea of how to play ur class anyway after u pleveled it.

I think its bull**** how anyone thinks hours of mindless grinding and questing will make them experts at their class. Instances and dueling/pvping is where u get the most knowledge imo.

it dosent matter if the glitch is a foult from there side or not.
as we agree with playing this game we agree to there rules and are to fallow them.
Just as someone said in a thread just cos you do not see police in a empty highway dosent mean you can ga faster then your allowed.

i am happy pwi our foster dad is actually taking step to get the guilty kids who are using the glitch.

Using the empty highway analogy isnt completely valid you know. You get your driving licence knowing the law beforehand, and the highways are not specifcally DESIGNED to allow people to exceed the speed limits.

If you encounter something different or strange in the game, is it illegal to continue? Is it a glitch or is it designed that way?

A glitch is more accurately something that causes a FAULT on one or more occasions, and is almost never consistent.

What we are discussing here is something that has been designed, tested, approved and constantly works the same way.

I personally do not want step parents thank you, and maybe some peoples step parents would be better served giving spelling lessons.

The fact that people can enter FF below level 75... glitch? designed that way? possibly both?

The fact that when you do BH metal it is commonly known that you can cause the boss to lock on to an unattainable character whilst an archer can kill with impunity... glitch? or designed that way?

We all know of several things that work differently form the usual or differently from what is expected.

I know the company stated that people would be banned for this and anyone who does so is foolish and asking to get banned. That much is not in dispute.

What IS in dispute is this...

This is design feature not a glitch.. fact. If people use the same methods repeatedly, they get the same results, repeatedly. It isnt something that happens once in a while.

Getting stuck in the map and having to relog, or town portal... now THAT is a glitch.
It happens sometimes and not others, in some areas and not others, to some chars and not others. Glitch.. indisputably.

To have someone define exploiting a feature of the game that works exactly as designed as a glitch is nonsense.

I don't want people to do it either, make no mistake. My beef is with the fact that the game does exactly what it was written to do in this particular case.

Yes there is a problem.. but the solution is, and always has been, to CORRECT the design error.

If you make a batch of faulty microwave ovens that leak and kill people... do you recall the products and fix them?
Or do you prosecute the users and customers for attempted suicide?

I maintain that they have known about this for a very long time, there are plenty of other exploits in game that dont attract bans. Look at where the responsibility really lies.

They dont ban people for power levelling for one very good reason. Although the instance is clearly INTENDED for acces by people over level 75, obviously we all know a level 1 char can get in there.

However, the power level trend has accounted for a large increase in revenue for PWI.
More noobs buy hypers than ever before. More hypers = more tokens =more packs = more cash for PWI.
Also the increased rate at which people want new armor and weapons etc has meant a huge increase overall in revenue.

But it is still exactly the same principle as the dragoon 'glitch'... EXACTLY the same.

People who worked hard to get their chars levelled to 60+ are rightly aggrieved by power levelled chars. They have gained levels by means of an exploit which results of a coding error.
    Sound familiar?
They need to fix both problems. They call it a glitch but it isnt.. it is designed that way.
Just because it is a poor / erroneous design doesnt stop it from it fropm being a designed feature.

The product is faulty.. not the user of the product.
Fix the product or shut up and let people use the game as designed.
Thats for PWI btw not for the customers, since I am in agreement wholeheartedly with it being stopped.

It is not possible ever to 100% test sopftware for every eventuality, so there is no complaint that it doesnt quite work in some rare circumstances.
The complaint is that having been notified of an error, they choose to not fix that error but rather to persecute customers who use it to their advantage.
Take the temptation away.. it doesnt excuse those who break the rules of course.. but lets minimise the opportunities for people to do that.. a 3 day ban is like a simpering apologetic admonishment which says.. i dont really want to punish you but I have to be seen to do something since people complained.

Grow a set, take responsibility for the product you are supposed to support, prevention is better than cure.. and dont blame the customers for your own laziness and incompetence.

no lie....thats where GMs belong. remember, that "GM" does mean "GAME MASTER"....and to be that means you have to be IN the game, not sitting around on your thumbs.

when this game started, GMs were very active, both among the players and on WC. and that was when bans were handed out and enforced...and the GMs made sure everyone knew who had been banned and for what infraction of the TOS, none of this wimpy 'no naming/no shaming." if you were being ganked, you could hit a button for a GM to come help, and they took care of the problem right away.

if they are putting GMs back in the game, i cant wait till HeavensTear gets some! we need them badly! and i hope they stay here for keeps!

    ...Wait a minute.....

GM's in servers ? Next time you troll the forums make your lies less obvious.

They could simply disconnect the servers until the glitch gets fixed, enough is enough, stop pointing fingers, its not the player's fault that this glitch has not been fixed in a long period of time knowing the harm it does.

As simple as that, close it and people will not use it anymore, then when the fix comes in, reopen the servers, tadaa, no rollback or w/e else that affects everyone else that did not have anthing to do with it.

Don't close it and keep accepting it as a shortcut to level up so people spend thousands in gear, is that what PWE wants to keep their game lifespan up? oh right, forgot.

Just these few couple of months I have spent over $600 USD (if you don't believe me, and you're a gm, just check my charging logs). I have spent more in this game since I became 101 than all the way from 1-100...

It just makes them a big chunk of insane money, think they don't want that?... please... be realistic.
