Do a search on the forum, there are several ways to emulate windows that will allow you to run it on a Mac.

It will not however, actually run on the Mac OS.

You can try to use Wine, Crossover Games, Boot Camp, and other similar tools to run Windows games on Mac. We do not support it, but there are communities that work on updating Wine Bottles for PWI and similar updates.

The following are my personal opinions on Mac gaming and are not representative of PWE's.

Mac OSX is great for some creative tools and common word processing/office programs. Web browser games have more market share on Macs than native Mac games do. Mac OSX (not the mobile version iOS, which is sometimes included in their install base numbers) has a very small market share compared to Windows and Linux.

Hence why web browser games and Windows games dominate the personal computer spaces. Windows 7 recently beat XP on global installs in a shorter period of time than it took XP. Windows 7 surpassed the total number of Mac OSX users within months of its release.

Macs are severely overpriced hardware, which many people aren't going to buy when they can buy a Windows PC for cheaper, with more functionality and customizable options. This shows in how game developers decide to make games for Windows more.

Macs are good for certain markets, but those markets don't help sell games. Many of the same ODMs (original design manufacturers) are making the same parts in different shells with brands added. The price you are paying is for the marketing hoopla that you fall for.

Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

If you have a valid version of windows somewhere I would suggest searching apple's support forums on how to install bootcamp.

Not only does it allow you to dual boot that gives you the feature to get the best performance since it is not running an os inside another os. It's simply booting as if it was a pc.

Now of course there are a few things here and there that are difficult to get around compatibility wise but once you have all the drivers installed correctly, then you just download it and run like you would on windows. I have never had any problems and I built my macbook quite well with what I've been given and it runs games better than most cheap pcs even though it is not meant to run high end games.

If you have any other questions about how to set this up send me and pm and ill be happy to help

    I question your sanity.

In response to the original question, try something like CrossOver Games, if you don't mind paying ~$40 - it has a button that will install PWI for you, and works more or less perfectly (though tends to crash if you try to multiclient). Do note that the patcher patcher (that is, the patcher's attempt to update itself, rather than the game) tends to fail and crash. To bypass, click "no" if it asks for an update immediately after launching, rather than spending several seconds checking the version number and such (and then pick "yes"). Also, manual updates work fine and are usually faster anyway.

Other WINE versions should work too, but I've had issues with them and being unable to correctly render the Tideborn (they spew random polygons all over the screen that make it more or less unplayable). YMMV; that's at least partially a graphical driver issue.

Personally, I loathe BootCamp because rebooting my computer is really not something I can be bothered with (42 days since last reboot), even though I get free copies of Windows. It also kills my productivity until I boot back into OS X. I do use VMs for things on occasion, though.

I LOL'ed at the market share as well...

Ratings as of August this year....
    Windows XP (35.21%)
    Windows 7 (31.21%)
    Windows Vista (11.27%)
    Mac OS X (7.31%)
    iOS (3.38%)
    Linux (2.25%)

Although recently, (in the past week or so ago), Win7 surpassed XP. OS X has gained a % in the past few months, but it's always been larger than Linux to the best of my recollection.
