Okay, so I played Perfect World for maybe a little less than a year, then switched to another popular MMO which I'll keep private.
I figured that on my first character, my veno Fanta, I spent more than 350 dollars, you know... Getting the phoenix pet like all pvp venomancers pretty much have to get, and repairing my gears, and resetting my stats to be competitive with Assassins and the newer Earthguards.
It would seem that inflation hit harder and harder as I played in the game system, since free to plays often have issues with crazy cash shoppers making the game harder and harder. I'd like to stay away from cash shopping til I figure out if the game is really what I want, but I will say that I don't mind spending a little.
However, there are people that have spend thousands on perfect world leveling and such, and gearing the right characters. Are adequate drops as big of an issue as months ago?
I miss the art of PWI and the customization and the pvp. No, I don't miss crazy prices and feeling useless in PVP because I'm not rich.
Unfortunately, my dumb self also went with a Phoenix first over the Hercules pet. Sucks to be me, but what can you do.
Suggestions? Is this game worth trying again?

In my opinion , no. The games economy is getting worse and worse everyday. I rarely cash shop, and its very difficult to get by in this game unless you spend many hours online as I do. If you want to be able to play just for enjoying the game, try moving to a PVE Server. the economy still sucks but you dont have to worry about getting ***** by CSers

I had the same question when I returned few days ago and to be honest I dont care...just enjoy the game to the fullest you can take it. I only returned because 1: I had fun and 2: I never played the monopoly game all the CSers do...I made my cash the old fashion way by actually going outside Arch and farming my coins. Econonmy is bad I know but there is always a way around it and sometimes its the most simpliest way even if it takes longer.
If I had a nickle for everytime someone thinks Im a girl because I play a veno with max bust Id have my legendary pets by now... Sorry pervs Im a guy veno get used to it b:laughb:pleasedb:laugh

I'd love to tell you that it is ok to come back and enjoy the game... sadly, it's impossible. Since you said you miss pvp and you don't like being useless in pvp... and also that you're not rich but don't mind spending a little which would mean your more of a casual cs'er that would buy a little bit of gold every now and then.

You aren't going to have much fun in pwi anymore, not on a pvp server anyways. With all the overpowered gear they have thrown out there, it's hardly even possible to keep up in pvp if you don't have rank 9 or at least nirvana 2nd cast. Someone calculated that rank 9 would cost around 2,2 billion coins, nirvana about 1,2 billion. And i think he didn't even include stuff like refines, shards and skillbooks. Good luck trying to farm that much in-game... it can take many months if not years, and with prices for farmed stuff like TT drops falling and gold prices rising, i don't see myself getting useful in pvp anytime soon.

Yes, you can still play the game for fun with your friends, flying around watching the scenery, picking flowers... like me. But pvp is a different matter. Yes, you should run. Far, far away. And never turn back b:sad

I'd quit now but i been on here a long time too, not giving up all the **** i worked for already. Not to mention i still can't find a game out there that looks this good but doesnt' suck (in gameplay, controls ... w/e..... i didnt' like BOI cause u can't turn the camera completely like on PW LOL).

if you've already left then yeah the only thing I could recommend is a PVE server as you won't deal with people killing you with R9 since you choose to go PVP or not. The game itself lacks the kind of support the game you're paying to play has and will continue to do so.

PWI is not the way it used to be. I don't know when you had left PWI, but depending on how long ago it was, it could be a real shock.

I had last seriously played PWI when Gold prices were 100,000 coin each in Gold Trade at the AH. Now you're staring at 1.3 million or more per Gold piece. If you already had a high level char on a PvE server, you'd probably get by okay if you didn't do PvP.

If you do want PvP or are on a PvP server... It's not worth it with the Gold Prices the way they are. Like the others have said, all you see is R9 out there with that being the most powerful right now. It's near impossible to get as a freebie, but you'd throw yourself to the debt wolves if you did try to get it through CS I'm sure.

One thing I know is... I miss the old/original PWI a lot, but I know it's not going to come back. I'm disappointed how it's turned out since I've come back after about a year away at least. I'm fiddling with new chars for now, but I know I'm getting bored quick since there's not much to work towards on goals unless you're strictly here to level only.

For example, rolled a Veno on HT before and I came back to level her, she's 4x right now, and because I mainly farm, I have 1 Gold piece and close to a second one if prices don't shoot up again. I need 9 Gold for a Super Inv Stone, that's now going to be 11.7 mil total. Long ago, it would have been 900k for a Super Inv Stone. Compare and weep b:shedtear

Yes, i agree that it would be possible to farm rank 8 in a rather short time, i think even i could make it to rank 8 in about 3-4 months or something. But is that enough? Even rank 8 doesn't seem that great anymore, not unless it is at least +10 refined and well-shareded, combined with other high-grade gears like cube necklace etc. And even with that it might not be enough, though i can't really tell since i'm still running around with TT99 gears +4 and such, thus i don't pvp much... you get the picture.

For now, i'm just semi-active making a bit of coins with fairy boxes and such. Waiting for the rank 8/9 recasts to see how the influence the game... then i decide if i quit for good, or stay. Though i can't really imagine it will get better after all these years b:surrender

you can enjoy the game without CSing, levelling and gearing up with friends and running TTs with faction mates and friends is the whole point of the game. If you are looking to play competitvely, I suggest you look for a new game or youll go broke playing this game.

100k per gold may have worked out well when the game first started, but think about it from the perspective of the people who charge zen. For me, one gold = one dollar. Considering how easy it is to grind out 100k in drops/DQ items, I would not spend one dollar for 100k coins. It's just in no way worth it.

As far as super inventory stones and the like go, I would just suck it up and charge the zen to buy it. It's cheaper than, say, dinner and a movie, and it will last you a lot longer, as well as contributing to a more pleasant gaming experience. In the end, you're really paying for convenience, which is no different than most things in real life.

If youre looking for a competitive game, wait for the new games that are coming out. The armors and weapons are all available ingame without having to pay real cash to be OP and War between Guilds is a common theme that runs thru one of them, so plenty of PVP.
This game has become a money grab with fail devs doing the updates.

Sure but you have to keep in mind that back then everything cost less as well. Except for very few items that were considered rare (I remember the bikinis before they were available in cash shop, and only from the dragon temple they were quite expensive at the time, around 3mil per piece). Rare molds that were considered very valuable like the Calamity Axes for instance were in the 5mil range just for the mold (maybe more for made). It's no different than how it is now. Back then rare stuff was equivalent to 50 gold or so, and nowadays rare things (for instance Wing Trophy Lunar Glade) are also equivalent to 50 gold. Only difference is, farming/grinding out 65mil is far more difficult than making 5mil.

2 is a completely new game, yes. I liked the first but for completely different reasons I didn't like it lol. I loved the classes and skills, the combat and strategy, it was how alone the game felt that bothered me which ultimately resulted in me coming back here. It only really felt alone because outside town, the world was largely instance based. You're given your own pick of NPC partners for your squad and you can go out into your own instance of the world alone. And because of this, I found that if you're a newbie like I was, you don't usually run into people needing or wanting to squad with you unless it's for certain required quests (like completing the stories for the different expansions).

Despite the things I didn't like though, I did enjoy it. I just wish there'd been more of a multiplayer feel to it. I may as well have been playing a single player game lol. one thing I can say is that their company was very impressive, unlike what I would say about PW in all honesty...

I anticipate that this post will be requested removed at some point lol >.>

I Don't really think the devs actually gave a hoot on ruining it, nevermind not killing pvp, so long as they "earn" some money to fund there crack addiction into what they will add into their packs next.

I'm playing a damn fun MMO atm, the PvP there is totally skill based and not gear based, due to the fact that when you enter the PvP arena, your actual gears effects has very little effect due to the massive jump in stats specifically for when your in a PvP instance.

ya i quit about a yr or so ago when, the whole game became a "who can lvl up the fastest" contest instead of an actually fun game like this used to be. I made this seeker about a week ago only to find out how WAAYYY WORST it god. Back when i quit it was all about oracle noobs...and hypers and the new 3x BH just came out...now from what im notciing all that has become the "slow" "old fashioned" way to lvl up....

But i love the PvP of lost city, and excited to get back "up there" with this seeker. Yes i understand itll take sum time and a good decent amount of CSin..which i never really did before but jnow that i can, it should be fun. But in all honesty dont let all the high lvls and high ranks fool you...its just like back then no matter what....if they dunno how to use their class and skills for ****..theyre not gonna last very long out in PvP...

just today i had sum Sin at least 10 lvls higher than me sneek up on me and try to kill me...only to have me turn around (in mid mob fighting) and completly own him...... he decides to say "oh ok your good..i was just testing you"... but then refused to fight me again....even when he had the upper hand of me not knowing i was gonna get attacked he couldnt kill me. Now this isnt a story about bragging how good i am. IN FACT i still dont even know how to use this seeker all that well in PvP...all Im saying is dont get scared just because of sumones LEVEL or GEAR...cuz if they suck...theyre just gonna lose in the end. And it just makes me laugh and THATS what keeps me hook on this game, is all the trash talkers...that constantly die and keep talkin trash and think of new excuses...

true im not in late 9x or 10x yet and its a whole diferent ball game up there...but for now im having a blast PKin all lvls high and low..and ofc dying and gettting killed too :P. And all while im just running around doing my quests the old fashion way...

ANd in all fairness i did get to start off with a decent amount of money from selling my old BM and Archers gears but for my lvl my gear aint all that great...theres no point in wasting my money on the greatest gear til i at least get a lil higher up there. :P

Yep, I anticipate it will be much much better than the first game. They've already said it will be open world (or whatever the term is), rather than instance. Soo it'll be pretty much like PWI is.

That combined with the new skillsets, engine, etc, I expect this game to be far superior to the other MMOs out there. Even with events throughout the world that can be altered by players depending on what they do. Can't remember what they termed it now...

Anyway I'll be quiet about that, don't want to get in trouble. lol. I'd just suggest looking up news about it some time, it sounds really promising.

Fantastical don't listen the complainers and Wizards, the Gold It's more expensive because you can make a lot of more money at the higher levels, It's totaly possible to buy a nix and a herculi by yourself if you can find good people that focus more in PVE than PVP. THIS IS THE PROBLEM, people think that It's just you create a char, get lv59 and own everyone, people lacks of the knowledge for make instances and for gain MONEY.

People that spend real money in endgear is bull****, or they are cheaters, or players of long date.

What I recommend for you: create a WR, Sin or Archer for be your main, Cleric works too I think, cause those chars are the highest demand in the late levels.
The game It's constantly geting updated, we get new instances here and there, for me who plays only thinking about PVP is a moron cause he will lose all his time grinding, farming and doing other activities that doesn't require player killing. I'm becoming a active player of PWI this week, but I utilize this forum on the shadows have more than two years and the losers are always saying that the server will die and bla-bla-bla whiskas pouch food. Just look around, It's the oposite.
