Oh, and andro, my love, read the books. The tv series is horrid compared to the books. That reminds me!
Question of the day: what's your favorite fantasy/fictional book or book series and why?
(Please forgive spelling and grammar errors as txting from my phone can be a bother, and I don't always catch all of my mistakes)*insert awesome siggy here*0 -

H.P. Lovecraft's series, his crazy world of monsters, dreams, forbidden knowledge, and perspective of humans.
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley because we aren't that far from such a dystopia...
Dante's Divine Comedy, only because I like the complex concepts of religion, mythology, and fictional locations.
I tend to only read old stories, **** the new books of today![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Read the hobbit and then lord of the rings trilogy before watching the movies. Loved the books. Movies were nice of course, but quite a bit got left out from the books and some things of the story got a little twisted in the movie.
Also the description of scenes and happenings inside the book were much more epic than watching the film.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I only read the 1st LOTR book cover to cover - skipped alot of the fight scenes in the 2nd too books.
The Harry Potter books are 100 x better than the movies - they leave alot out of the movies, like Peeves.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Well I'm not much of a fantasy book kind of guy, but atm I'm reading "Nelson Mandela by Himself" written by Selo Hatang and Sahm Venter. The book itself is in fact a collection of Mandela's quotations, and very interesting reading.
And I really love the books that talk about Apartheid ever since I was in South Africa and heard from local people how hard was to live there under the tyranny imposed by the Dutch settlers, and I strongly belive that everyone should read atleast one of them...so that nothing similarly to crimes like those were repeats in the future of humanity.
I read three quarters of the book so far and I can recommend it to anyone even if I'm not finished with reading yet.0 -
Stop provoking and stop being what you are in this topic, for Gods sake just go away[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Val, havent you learned yet that you are so often condescending and quick to belittle others, that they are quick to assume you are ALWAYS trying to do the same? perhaps in the future you should try reading your posts out loud and think about how others may see them before hitting the "reply" button. thanks for the book suggestions i'm sure those people went thru some horrid things. makes me think of the recent book/movie "The Help" just for similarity to basic topic. i've seen that movie, but havent read the book yet (its on my pile at work of books to read when i'm not lurking on forums)
andro, topic of the day is gladly shared with any willing person who wants to start a conversation.
as to answer your question, i really dont have a favorite actor or movie in general. my favorite move of all time, however, is The Little Mermaid for personal reasons0 -
that black text is even easier to ignore than the yellow text
now i don't even accidentally read any words in his posts[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Yes I did learned, but that is not a reason to pump up every word that I write out of proportions just to do so...ijs
I didn't saw the movie but I did read a book "The Help" that you mentioned, few years ago...
Book is always better choice than a movie for me personaly but i'll get a movie too...and I belive that you will enjoy reading it
Things were similar, but that would be all...
I don't think that you can really compare what South African people sufferd and this thing in Mississippi because thank God things changed in USA, but in South Africa you still have many leftovers from past philosophy and their scars are still very fresh. To make long story short...there could be much more equality than they have atm...
But that is the sad truth of our time, that I hope it will change eventualy.
Thank you for the kind responce.MsEvilness - Heavens Tear wrote: »that black text is even easier to ignore than the yellow text

It's not that I care, but thank you for sharing...I guess LOL0 -
@ Anne:
My favorite book series would have to be the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice; my favorite of the series being The Vampire Armand.
@ Andro:
Favorite movie, and character from said movie, would have to be David Bowie as the Goblin King in Labyrinth. I know it's an oldie, but I don't watch a great deal of TV anymore outside of shows like The Fairly Oddparents, Spongebob Squarepants, and iCarly...Not motivated enough to make another PWI siggy0 -

just because i want to comment on the subject matter, time is a major factor in things such as this. the reason i mentioned the book/movie is because you brought to mind something in my recent memory and that is all. what happened in america so long ago had many stages to it in the way it took shape, was carried out, and how it is remembered in history both in the books and in the minds of others. though our relations here have come a long way, they still have a long way to go. not downplaying what has happened/is happening anywhere else in the world.
sadly, seems like we look for more ways and reasons to hate and discriminate than to love and accept one another. i am a carebear at heart, in game and in rl, so it all hurts to me. *spreads love and rainbows* b:cute
oh and to lor, that movie creeps me out :P0 -
My favorite would have to James Stewart in Its a wonderful life.It is a classic and great movie that has a great message.
As for the history here and things going on in south africa, our problems aren't over.Granted we are further along but there are still hate crimes everyday. You go to the southern part of the US and racism is still very much part of daily life in the smaller communities. Out side of race, homosexuals all over the country are having to deal with close-minded people daily.I had a friend that was attacked and hospitalized on Friday because he is ***,and no other reason. He has 3 broken ribs and a fractured jaw. It saddens me that things like this happen and I really wish it wouldn't because everyone deserves the same rights as anyone else, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or creed.mmmmmm tacos mmmmm

Even Croatians ???
I'm not provoking anything to be clear on that, but I would really like to hear the answer ???0 -
its pretty funny speaking of racisim...not the racisim itself being funny, but how the word i tself has worked in the favor of those who claim to be affected most by it...and dont you think especially here in america...that we would be much further along in the "strugle" against it, if the hatemongers on the sides of those they are sworn to protect...would ya know...not make it their lifes work to make sure people are hated against, just so they can make millions from it?
Im lookin at you Sharpton...
US racisim is but merely a joke in light of global racisim...not to take any of it lightly, but c'mon...
anyone...lets make the worlds biggest internet "nerdhug" yes thats right, lets make our own new word to go along with it...whos with me?
