It's been more than a month since r8 that I finally decided to take a look at different gem/shards for my 2 socket r8 sword.

What did you guys imbue with? Your reasons will be a great help.

I am thinking of adding two g12 alabaster shard (+200 metal damage each).

yes, those alabasters will be worthless if you fight a metal mob. Use Garnets in all your weapons.

Although, considering that the majority of your attacks are magic based, I suppose Saphires could be an option as well. I'm still tinkering with my Seeker.

All your attacks will use your physical attack to calculate their damage, your strength also increases your physical attack. Metal damage shards will be just that and will not be modified by anything (besides debuffs on mobs perhaps). When comparing the damage numbers on garnets and elemental shards, take into account that the garnet shard damage will be increased by around 200% purely from str/buffs and usually an extra 100%+ from skills / spark.

The obvious answer is Garnet gems. However, HP and accuracy shards are options also, depending on your role.

I'm pretty sure seeker is like archer where the game first calculates your physical damage and then gives you magic damage based on a percentage of that.

And your physical damage gets multiplied by strength and passive skills. So 1 point added to physical damage through a socket ends up being much more than 1 point of damage in the end. But 1 point of magic damage added to a socket is just 1 point of damage.

On archers its so easy to see how weapon damage gets multiplied by dexterity and passive skills. Just switch arrow types and look at the character info. You can see how 1 point of arrow damage becomes much more than 1 point of total damage. I'm sure its the same for socket damage.

You need to shard garnets to increase physical damage in a way that gets multiplied by strength and passive skills. Then that gets converted to magic damage when using skills.
