More Classes or more races?

Looks like people are arguing with eachother. If you look at new race posts,people are constantly saying how we need more classes. If you look at new class posts, people are constantly saying that we need more races. So, feel free to use this thread as a Debate Zone.

there is nothing to debate. the way the game is set up, new classes means new races, and new races mean new classes. they are used interchangeably because they are basicly the same thing. people would slip and say we don't need new races but in the end, what do they have against the races? the CLASSES they would bring or to be more exact, PWE's complete and utter inability to make classes balanced.0

What people mean by more class = new class for old race
1 race can have 3 or more class
Don't forget... for sure...
the new class would look different when compared with old class from the same race
Example:
New class for winged elves would look a lot more handsome / beautiful by default (than archer or cleric default, because the model was built with updated engine / graphic) but less customization as well. (pw limitation)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I agree with moonsagi.
What i meant was new classes for old races.Race and class are not the same thing.
For example:
If people wanted more classes,the next installment of a race would include three or four classes.
If people wanted more races,the next installment would only have two classes,as usual.

Well the only reason to give more classes to the existing races would be if you would like to make every race a standalone race. So that every race has got a healer a tank DDs just with some race specific specialities in appearance and special abilities like race skills.
The idea behind the races and classes in PW originally was to splitt the functions between the races
Human BM ( puller / stunner / melee DD) Wiz ( magic DD / range /support healer)
Untamed Veno (2ndary puller/debuffer/DD) Barb ( tank )
Winged Elves Archer (phys DD/range/2ndary melee DD) Cleric ( healer/buffs)
The problem with adding new races ( and also new classes ) at this point was that basically all functions were distributed. Moreover there was a clear concept behind hp of a character build statwise and abilities. For instance archers had higher evasion and critrate than bms but less hp and defenses while wiz had high defense with low hp barb high hp and def with limited attack power ...to put it short each class had its strengths and weaknesses and in terms of pvp every class had lets say 1 enemy no1 like wiz vs barb or archer vs cleric
So when new races and therefore also new classes were added the devs had the problem that they had to give them unique abilities and a role to fit into this system. Unfortunately they failed at integrating the new races perfectly even if the ideas of a sin and a magic debuffer were not bad. But the way how they did it screwed up the old systems. Not only in PvE but also in PvP. I mean why should someone play a range class if the range can not be used as advantage in combat against melees look here at skills like shadow teleport or voidstep. Why the hell can a melee DD overcome the pdef and hp of a barb without problems.... Why does a fast caster nearly the same DPH like the Nuker class and so on
That's the reason why I think if pwi wants to keep that system of giving every single class a unique function adding new classes can only **** up the game mechanics even further because the last classes of the earthbound are a good example that they lack of those unique characteristics and are just hybrid classes of the existing ones.
The only possible way to add more classes would be to add them to the existing races like i said before but then we would have to take the story of pwi back to the conflict between elves humans and untamed fighting eachother. So that the different races are no longer supposed to work together to form good squads and parties because they need the abilities of the classes from another race but form a squad with classes from their own race.
The idea of adding a new race where all current classes are available sounds a bit strange but could work if the aim of adding this new race would be to let the new race fight against all the existing ones. So you can either join the Wraiths (new race with 10 classes) or Pan Gus army ( HUman + untamed+ elves + tideborn + earthbound)

i couldn't agree more the devs don't put much thought into new classes, this results in other classes being phased out. we don't need new classes, period. every class that gets added throws the game more off balance. what they need is to rework the older classes with new skills and make ajustments to the newer classes so they won't PWN so much. as the above post stated, why does a psy have the same DPH as a wiz and yet it can also cast faster than them? in addtion to that, the buffs the new classes have make them rather annoying. balancing the current classes would be a good start to getting this game balanced like it was a few years back.
but i WILL admit that having a race that is evil is the only next possible step at this point BUT you must consider the fact that with such a race, that would main you would need a massive new area for them to call home. not the addtion of one new city, but an entire new natiion with land that is almost as vast as the main map. an evil race would need it's own place simular to archo, it's own TT FF etc equivalents that the the humans elves, untamed, TB and EG have. this is a massive undertaking and honestly, i doubt this game has enuf life in it to marit making such an expansion0 -
Maybe they want to have 35 class like certain mmorpg... (with actual huge map size)
the dev of " 35 class mmorpg " know how to make each class unique..
(most race has same class but still different... based of race history)
