Thoughts on the Moving of SP quests

At some point, in all the reams of posts here, I saw the suggestion that Silver Frost be moved outside the Secret Passage, for the convience of those who need him for the Chrono Key quest chain. I just about went into hysterics, laughing over what would happen if Silver ever gets parked outside anywhere. on YouTube is a video that shows what low level players likely reaction will be to seeing 'The Khatru Pup" parked outside the SP.(the Pup part is about 1:00 into the vid). All joking aside, Silver doesnt just stand stil, but can be pulled....and that means he would menace all the Flag Hill/Heros Tomb/Orchid Temple areas, worse than idiots dragging Chin up from Anglers Village. And the likely hood of newish players running up to what they were told is a kind of teleport to Archo and getting killed might be rather funny once, but after than, it becomes as bad an idea as leaving him inside. At least, with Silver inside, he is confined ,cant run amok or eat players who want a tele to Archo.
If all the bosses and other things that need to be done for quests and cultis are to be moved out of SP, to leave it for the gankers, where, pray tell, would one park the Shades? They have attacks that are hard hitting that usually need squads to take them down for the player who needs him for a quest. You cant just plop them down in the shade of a tree, and expect anything but mayhem by unsuspecting players passing by. Contained in a room, you at least know where he is, and you can pass without getting within his attack range. Or the Wheel of Earth? The Painting in the chest? What about those culti quests? Just drop them on the ground here and there around the Heros Tomb area, where, while you are digging, other bosses or mobs who have long had the run of the area can attack you? There are enough stupid chests scattered around the map, some of which relate to quests, some require some hammer....most people dont know until the surrounding mobs have killed them, and its sheer misery for the cleric who has to fish them out of those messes.
I have a much better idea- devs, sit up and pay attention to teacher now. There are many unused nooks and crannies around the map. My suggestion is to use the unused instance down in Buried Bones, near the town. Open the doors, and put out a welcome mat for all PKers and gankers, and let them murder each other to their heart's content. Of course, given that the instance is down in a high level area, the mobs locked inside might have something to say about their home being invaded by idiots, but I think they are well able to clean up the trash by themselves.

Hahaha a pretty funny video
And yea, move bosses out sp can be a bad idea, and anyways we have to wait till china think a way to fix this mess, the problem is the instance of the tourney inside sp and thats not something our gms can fix (or am i wrong?), so lets just wait and qq when we need one of these bosses b:laugh[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
btw your sig is epic b:victory[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Silver Frost has no AoE. I don't think it's possible to grief low levels with a boss with no AoE.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I think she meant that new players might confuse Silver Frost with the Khatru Pup and get killed trying to tele to Arch. In my opinion, if by level 40 a player can't tell that Silver Frost is a different color, moves around, is probably much higher level than them, and [most importantly] isn't named 'Khatru Pup' then they had it coming and they'll learn pretty fast after the first time they get killed.
Oh, and Dismal Shade does have an AoE. It's pretty nasty too if you're a low level. I'm not sure If Shade Eido has an AoE but he's a pansy even if he does.0 -
Thanks for the compliment on my sig...it was made for me by the leader of Artemis, who is no longer in the game, having left over one of the earlier idiot situations. Im glad she isnt here to see this one, though I miss her very much, my best friend in the game.
BTW, it is QUITE easy to grief players with Silver. Thank God the current batch of killers havent remembered that one...though why GMs, etc would care about griefing with a pulled boss when they obviously dont give a tinkers damn about griefing by gankers. Griefing is in the TOS as a bannable offense, but it looks like the TOS applies everywhere in PW except in the SP.
Talk about .hypocrisy...why have the TOS if it is never enforced ingame, only here, theonly place a player can express themselves.Kremia - Lost City wrote: »btw your sig is epic b:victory[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I think it would be much easier to revert SP back to the way it was and write the new code for a different/ new PK instance.

personally i would like more random high level mobs and bosses roaming the pwi countryside it would add an edge of excitement to the game.0

I dont think people would really confuse Silver Frost with a Khatru pup, I mean he would be put in a remote location (No one would expect a khatru pup in the middle of nowhere).
I don't like the idea of making the new PVP instance a high-level only arena. No low levels (<80) will go there. The thing I like about secret passage is that it's not only lvl 100s fighting. Enough of that happens outside Silver pool and west arch.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Off Topic: If they are capable of making bramble enabled inside instances why don't they activate it for world pvp? This would balance the APS/Sin pvp issues almost immediately.
On Topic: That seems like a good idea. I don't really care personally where the instance for this free pvp arena is as long as there is one.Push me,

It doesn't have to be a high level arena, but a 30's-40's char is one-shotted by a random level 100 ****(aoe, look at the appearance of a few of them, and the way the player is standing what can i say). If people choose to get popped repeatedly, in other words pick a pvp server then more power to them(they'll need it). However if the 30-40 players get popped 3 or 4 times going thru the first room are they really going to try to get further in?0 -
I suggested that one location mainly because its unused, has never been in the 3 years i've been here. Of course, the devs could do the obvious, and turn on the Arenas in the main cities. If they did, problem solved.
Fat chance of them employing that much logic.
Players who read this forum have by now realised that even having escorts of high level wont get them to the areas of the SP where their quests need to be done, are not likely to bother much longer with working other quests, because eventually they will come down to the SP ones being the only ones remaining in their logs. Seeing those, and SP still the home of murderous killers, they are most likely going to leave, and there goes a sizable chunk of change that would have gone into PWE's bank.
All this week, and where has Frankie been hiding? It takes hundreds of pages of complaints for him to get the message and pass it on up the line? Sheesh......b:angryIt doesn't have to be a high level arena, but a 30's-40's char is one-shotted by a random level 100 ****(aoe, look at the appearance of a few of them, and the way the player is standing what can i say). I dunno. I went in there for some quests on alts and it was pretty full. Kinda fun to dodge the high levels beating the **** outta each other actually.0

If you mistake a mob for a dialog NPC, you deserve to die at least once.
I'm all for moving everything out of SP, and making a new instance for FB29. FB29 has so far been the most lame of the FB's in the game. Running nubs through it sucked on my sin because I couldn't tele to a mob if someone got in trouble (omg, doorhax!), and half the time, telestun would eat a spark and not even stun the mob (I was using it for a remote stun, but they broke that too).
Why not just take the door out like 39-79, and let us use our skills in the instance?
Has nothing to do with being 'nerfed', it's just the principle of the thing. b:surrender Like they couldn't figure out how to fix door teleing, so they just disabled tele and jump. >_> It's lame.
The other thing that Wanmei COULD have done was clone the SP part of the instance, remove the mobs, and make a new PK instance somewhere. Hard? No.101 Sage Sin*/Archer
100 Demon BM*/Barb
96 Demon Cleric/Sage Seeker
95 Demon Wiz/
94 Sage Veno
85 Psy/80 Mystic
And a handful of other alts, all 79 and under.
*Pre RB level0 -
It wouldn't be too bad to move Silver Frost out. However, only dealing with the chrono chain and leaving everything else in would be a kick in the teeth to lower levels. It would be them basically saying lower levels don't matter anymore, we'll just take away your quests... go buy hypers and level up that way.
But if they were to move *all* the quests outside, then you do have another problem in the form of Dismal Shade. Here is a boss that does AoE enough to kill the levels that quest around there. So it would become, let the boss dragging commence by every jerk in the area.
I still think there is no reason why they can't just reopen the arenas. These are accessible from the major cities so any level could easily go in, and it would be no different in there aside from the fact that they couldn't PK people trying to do their quests. Win/win.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Seeing as how everyone was trying to kill each other while throwing around AoEs I think I did a decent enough job surviving most of the time. I did get killed a few times wandering too close to someone though. Your point?Sarrafeline - Sanctuary wrote: »If you mistake a mob for a dialog NPC, you deserve to die at least once.
Did you even read anything after the first sentence of my post? Here, I'll copy+paste it for you.

That would take a whole minute for the devs to find the code to open the arena and then another minute or so to actually tweak it so it'll work. Obviously that's far too much work for them to put into something that they can't see making them ludicrous amounts of money.
On a more serious note, I think most of us have figured out that enabling PK in SP was an accident and rather than admit they goofed or even try to fix it [while making/opening a separate PK instance to make up for it] they cover it up by saying it's a new feature. Not as if it hasn't happened before.0 -
I agree. And still wonder why none of the people who run this show have appeared to say *anything at all*, despite the hundreds of pages of complaints here, and God only knows how many emals, snail mails and other forms of communication have gone to them. its incredible to me that NOTHING has been said officially.
What the bleeping hell is going on out there.?Jianqiao - Dreamweaver wrote: ».
