My game client closes suddenly

No warning, the game client is just suddenly not running anymore.

While I have noticed this in all areas/activities in the game, it is most often when I have been on a few hours and for whatever reason I try to teleport from Archosaur to Tellus or Raging Tide.

This problem only occurred 3 or 4 patches ago so it is a recent issue.

I run Windows 7 32bit, and a large, adequately cooled video card. I am certain this is a PWI issue, and not one of my PC being bad or glitchy. Also other friends on PWI have had the same issue since around the same time period.

I only start a new thread because there is nothing I could find by searching after 30 or 45 minutes trying.

Am I the only one who has reported this issue?

    It's been an issue since the client was in beta. Sometimes it's better, sometimes it's worse, and I can't find any rhyme or reason for it half the time.

    Through all of my troubleshooting and testing with the client, it happens the least when you set elementclient.exe, Patcher.exe, and Loader.exe to all run with administrator rights. (applies to Vista and Win 7, been way too long since I used XP to say if it's an option there.)

    Just doing that simple little thing makes a huge improvement with some of the graphical glitches, rubberbanding, and client crashes.

    My wife and I have the same problem, only since the last patch - 560 I think, the last one in August- It only happens when in cities with a lot of other characters around. I can play outside of the cities all day long with no problem. I have found that if I set to efficient mode it never happens. So it's back and forth with the graphics settings depending on where I am... and if I forget and go to Arch...boom, program shuts down within the first minute or two. I know it's not a slow computer problem because we both have i7 quad-cores.

    I've been having the same problem. I'm running Windows 7, 64 bit on both my laptop and desktop. The crashing happens on both computers. It happens without warning and with no error message popping up.

    I did however, notice most of my sudden crashing happens when my toon is on her BulbFish Mount. Don't ask me why, it could be just a coincidence, but I've yet to *crash* while my toon is on any other mount that she owns.

    I have an Asus N61JV with I-5 processor and Nvidia Geforce GT 325M Cuda 1G memory. I also have problems with crashing. My Kaspersky Anti Virus/Security sofware detected a Trojan.Win32.FakeAk.ellk on the pwi-downloader.exe so I thought that was the problem on the crashes on the latest patches. I don't know if it a false positive or a real virus, all I know there are some problems with the patcher maybe. Where is patcher 1 coming from and patcher 2 on the downloads in auto-patcher and what client. The good thing the virus got deleted b:pleased from Kaspersky. Just don't want future problems.

    when you used to crash like that and get the submit box up, it always was because the game has problems with directX. there is no fix because the engine for the game is too old.

    Same problem here since the last big patch/update. And often when teleporting from Archo to Tellus. But often no obvious reason. No submit box to send details after the crash too.

    More players have this issue. Same as the lagging server. I use the West Coast server. It is disconnecting all the time. So I quit playing often. It makes me crazy.

    Hope to see this problem solved soon.

    i have the same prob on windows 7 64 bits on a very good computer (i7 quad cores, 8 gb ram, graphic card 1 gb). never happened on windows xp with a crappy comp.

    imo, its a problem between the game and windows 7

    suprice: i have same problem :/ but da strange think is that i have only on my laptop... i cant tell same thing for my PC
    laptop: Pentium DualCore CPU T4300 2.13GHz,3.9GB RAM 320GB Hard Disk
    PC:Pentium 4 CPU 1.81GHz, 512MB RAM 80GB Hard Disk
    both r with Windows XP

    If you guys see pmb.exe running in the background you can uninstall Pando Media Booster if you already have the game installed.

    Otherwise, it will still run and share your bandwidth of the game installer to other players.

    See if that helps.

    If you need further help, please send in a ticket to Tech Support with the following information so we can try to figure this out for you. We need you to send us some of your computer's information.

    1) What is the make and model number of your computer?

    2) Please also tell us whether you are running a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows. You can find out in Windows by going here: Start > Control Panel > System & Maintenance > System. Then look under System > System Type. It will then display 32bit Operating System or 64bit Operating System. Include that info with the info we ask for below.

    3) To create a dxdiag log, go to Start, click on Run, then type in dxdiag and press Enter. Click on Save All Information as a text file (on your Desktop as an example.
    If you are using Vista or 7, go to the Start Menu, click on the Search menu and type dxdiag.exe.

    4) Attach the dxdiag.txt that you save to your reply to us.

    If you have a 64bit system, please click on the 64bit Dxdiag/DirectX button to save the correct log file.

    Well I have a good PC and i didn't have problems like that before but it started happening just like the other people that posted on this thread(after a specific time and date).It mainly happens when i stay too much in archosaur west in the center part mostly or near AH.My video card has the latest driver installed and there is no pmb.exe running in the processes.Is there any other solution to fix this?Don't feel like pressing the lower detail button just when passing around those areas.
    P.S:I am using microsoft windows 7 x64.

    What helped me the last three days is: stopping the Steam Client Server. A lot of games updates through the Steam Client Server. That process is running in the background always. It seems that is part of the problem.

    Since I stop this process before I start PWI engine everything is ok. The only time the game keeps exiting without warning is when I teleport from West Archo to Tellus. The difference is: I get a textbox with an error warning now. But that is completely unreadable. I think I don't have the Chinese language pack?

    That is the reason why I did not made a screenshot of it.

    No process like this. Steam process does the same I guess. See my previous post.
