Frustrated...

Hello!

I’d like to start out by saying that up until I hit level 30, this game was great. I used to play Warhammer, and Perfect World is similar in a lot of ways which makes for easy transitioning.
I’m writing this to address a few issues that I have with this game, and offer what I think are simple solutions that will improve gameplay for everyone.

While I understand the purpose for a PvE server, this has a tendency to take away half the fun of the game. My biggest issue at this point is the PvP setup. If I am level 30, no one above 45 or 50 should be able to kill me. My fiance and I have spent almost 2 hours working on a quest that should not have taken more than 25 minutes, because level 100 players keep killing us. We still haven't finished the quest. We were supposed to kill 35 Ossein Guards, and after 2 hours we have killed 19.

I would love to start going after other players, but I run into 2 problems here. The first problem is that, because high level players keep killing me out of the blue, it's taking me far longeer to complete quests and thereby gain levels. Secondly, the only way I can see a player's level is by viewing their equipment and estimating the level based on the requirements of the gear. I'm not about to attack someone randomly without knowing their level.

My suggestion is this:

PvP should be broken up into level based tiers. For example, if you are between level 20 and 40, you can only attack and be attacked by people in that level range. This alone would help to level out the playing field, and give us a chance to fight back instead of being a one hit kill. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a challenging game more than most people, but the current setup is just suicide.

Other options would be:

Allow people above level 30 to set themselves to "no kill" while they are questing.
Have designated PvP areas.
Drop the price of resurrection scrolls.

My other issue here is... I suppose it's a combination of AI and aggro settings, and similar to the above PvP issues. If an enemy can kill you in 3 hits, it shouldn't come after you unless you attack it. There are areas with a lot of quests that have one or two REALLY deadly boss type enemies. We had one of these randomly spawn right in front of us and kill us instantly just outside the west gate of Archosaur. I even had one of these follow me into a "safe zone" and kill me there! I'm sure you can imagine my suggestion for resolving this issue.

I hope that you understand my frustration and will share your thoughts regarding my ideas.

Alice

Using special characters often causes your post to be cut off. Just don't use them. Also, yes I agree. PK should have a limit to who can kill who, but the Devs in China can't be bothered adding a cap, so it is how it is. Play on a PvE server if you don't like being harassed.

Finally got the whole thing up. Had it typed in Word and was tryin to copy/paste. Gave up, re-typed it all. Yeesh.

And it's not that I have a problem with PvP. I love killing off other players. And I wouldn't mind being harassed if it was by people I had a snowball's chance in heck to defend against...

But like I said earlier, I came from another mmorpg that had caps. If you went into a pvp section that was meant for lower levels, they turned you into a zombie chicken. All I'm saying is that there is nothing fun or fair about one hit kill PvP.

Is there anyone at all to talk to about making some sort of adjustments?

    Not really.

The only advice I can give is that you should just buckle down, and prepare for some ganking. It's part of the process.

Although it will make it that much more rewarding once you get to a decent level.

Also, if the same person is killing you over and over while you're trying to quest, and you even tell them to stop because you're trying to quest, you can report them if they continue to harass you.

Just take a screenshot or two of them killing you, with you telling them to stop in clear view in your chatbox.

Because what they're doing is called griefing, and is one of the few things they actually enforce in terms of banning.

I think you misunderstand the purpose of PWI... It is to make the PWI company and investors $$$.

    - Higher levels CAN PK you on a PVP Server if you are White Named > so you rage enough to pull out the credit card to buy Hypers.

    - Your susposed to rage about how long it takes to get levels > so you pull out the credit card to.... buy hypers.

    - Your susposed to get angry about not knowing what lvl someone is > so you rage and pull out the credit card.. to buy Rank 9 Reputation, Rank 9 Gear, Pop-open thousands of boxes to get a few nice shards, and of course hit up the CS to buy Refines. BECAUSE THEN.... it don't matter what lvl they are, you can kick their butt... maybe.....(reaching for credit card again).

The essence of the game is not to have fun, but to get in a competetive-I'll-get-your-ars-mindset - which is easily influenced by the addiction-bug and loops you back to pulling out the credit card... to lvl/gear up.

Other players feed into this frenzy -- so where once you thought 'no way in HECK will I sink $50 into a game - your finding your sinking X2, X3, X4 and much much more....

Where did our sanity go? I think... we cashed in it for ... hypers....

Welcome to PWI, I am sure your bruises will heal in a week or so. If you play on a PVP server, you get the extreme version where you literally have to pay other players to level you up to 100, and pay PWI for hypers and gear etc. While the game is free to play, lots of players spend upwards in the thousands of dollars on leveling, gear and fashion.

Many many players like to gank. PWI is fully aware of it and treats it with benign neglect. You can try reporting people, but it takes forever, and you never know if it is effective. (Does not seem to be.) You also will not find many players who support your criticisms. My guess is people like your self get fed up and leave, which means the player base is made up of people who like ganking or at least could care less about it. Yes like you I have played other MMOs where PVP is more structured and there are level caps on who can fight who, but PWI is wide open PVP.

The only organized PVP activity is Territory Wars which gives the advantage to the side having the most 100+ level players. That is another reason many people pay to be power-leveled to 100.

If you want team based leveling you won't really find it here till end-game. You will have more likely-hood of getting farther with team based leveling on the PVE servers because you can still find a few like yourself there and you can level up without being ganked all the time. Be aware that there is one notorious exception, Secret Passage (lvl 30-50), where due to a PWI ****-up, open PVP is in effect.

On PVE servers you can still participate in TW PVP on a regular basis, so you are not losing PVP if you switch to a PVE server.

You will not see any changes here, PWI only makes changes regarding cash flow items, not free to play features.

Oh, and you can buy consumable items in the cash shop that let you click on players and see their level and stats. b:laugh
    Just some guy
