This has happened to me just the other day. i know exactly how this lil,,,"trick" is done now. so if GM's need to know exactly how to do and and fix this glitch, i will gladly let u know how. its quite simple really. i want my helm back. ~removed~ i think i got it spelled right was the one who did it to me. a cleric. lvl 39 in lost. be careful all. he talked to a few friends of mine also.

Also, if anyone else has experienced this, please post here with as much information (other than names) possible, so that the GMs will have something to look at to test the problem.

Post it so that other can't use it to scam people, because I guarantee the scammers are telling their scammer friends how to do it. The only ones who don't know are the victims and they lose their stuff. The people getting scammed aren't helping anyone by being so tightlipped about it and that same sentence getting posted over and over in world chat is frustrating. Do you really think they gonna say the same line over and over again? How can a glitch be fixed if nobody knows what the glitch is?

To Avoid it is to simply not do a trick some call "1 for 2" or anything to do with cloning items. dont take random squads from people in beginners areas. Do not accept trades for low lvl items cus it will result in something lost you may not have offered.

From the post describing this glitch is doenst look like a "duping trick" at all. Is a mysterious way of stealing an item of yours without trading it.

There is no cloning if the scammed lose the object.

I personally would never know how to do this trick, cuz im very positive i would try it out.

So, whoever knows how this works pls, dont post it on the friggin official forum.

Sounds like trolling that escalated into scamming. Most trolls just say stuff and other trolls adopt it until one eventually takes advantage of someone dumb enough to take it seriously.

Most trolls are solely verbal and take no actual action to what they say.

It was never about a duping trick, if you read my post thats just what they say to get the person to follow the weird steps it takes to make the glitch happen. The thing is, it has to be some kind of cheat engine they are running (if it's real) in addition to the steps the person got scammed took. Because if was something as simple as "dragging one item over another" which I heard on person say they dragged an arrow on top of their potion then someone else would have experienced by now and reported it as a legitimate bug. So it's not really being helpful at all with this vagueness because it's obviously going to take more than something like that to make it work. They are just letting this person get away with it if they are telling the truth. Which makes me think they are simply trolling. And either haven't been scammed, or are lying and don't want to admit they legitimately traded their items.

I believe that if this "dupe **** scam" or whatever you want to call it actually exists.. it would be complex. The so called cheat engine you are talking about may be able to create fake client side items, but on server side they don't really exist... like the catshops that buy stuff for more coin than they have via a memory **** that tells the client they have more coins than they actually have. Client lets them set shop, server doesn't let them buy. One of my first thoughts when i heard of this scam (and its involvement with dragging items around) was the "bottle duplication" glitch in Ocarina of Time. That video isnt the best example of this glitch, but the easiest way to accomplish it in that game is to initiate the "catch" action with the bottle, then swap to inventory and select another item in place of the bottle. The new item would be replaced by a new bottle - and you would have 2 bottles now instead of 1.

Taking that a bit further, and this is just a theory... the items supposedly created on the scammers client which don't exist in reality are some how being used as a place holder by the scammer, and when dragged over the weapon or helmet - the item being stolen is imprinted onto the scammers client. Again, its just a theory - and not sure how it ties in with the trade window. Thats just because I haven't actually been scammed.

I can sorta see how a glitch makes you auto drop something thats equipped and maybe on hotkey if someone asks you to start switching around pots and arrows they just gave you. But dont you have to be in the same party to pick someones else gear if they drop it b/c of a glitch or accident? If i drop something on the ground no on can pick it up but me for a couple of seconds O_O

You could actually duplicate items back in 2008. Was a really high fail rate tho (than you lost the item as well) so the people using it often lost as much as they gained. Like in most MMOs, during the first year loads of hacks/third-party programs are working before devs starts to patch things up.

Dunno if i can feel sorry for the guys getting scammed here tho. Its kinda your own fault if you're trying to dupe items after being approached by a complete stranger. Why would someone out of nowhere come and help you cheat?
it extended into 2009, also. though at that time it was limited to crappy items that lost all value like Jiaozi Coins. i remember cause back then, all the New players used to buy them cause they added "extra drop rate" for molds and good items back then. <--- scam btw.

I just wanted to say even though Frankie never gave a confirmation in this thread for some strange reason, this is indeed a real thing as confirmed by Frankieraye in another thread that had nothing to do it with it that was about the full catshop scam. For whatever weird reason.

There's a scam where someone offers to teach you how to dupe, only if you follow their instructions you actually end up with less than what you started with. Be smart, don't listen to these scammers.

Closing this as it's turning into a "how do you dupe" thread, which is something that's not welcome here.

NOte if you want to see the post it is in, please click here http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=14782831&postcount=21 Since he closed the thread I couldn't qoute him so I had to get his name, posting ID from another thread in order to properly credit him with the qoute. b:pleased

Can we please finally get a GM response about what we should be avoiding when trading with other players in our squad so that our items don't drop! Obviously we understand you can give us specific directions but what things like should be avoiding trading arrows? potions? Dragging items? What?
