Dorsets Signature Challenge

Looks like it worked...although I had to crack a CS4 instead of a CS5 (man they gotten better -w-'') anyways I should have a sig up before Wednesday ^^;; STILL working on getting a faction up...still cant think of a name though.

For the lettering, It was this basically. I learned it in software app and design in 10th grade, always been fun to play around with it.

For the Dorset specific case, here's step by steps on how I did hers.

Step 1: First steps were shrinking the images and placing them in a bannerlike form. Then once I had them bannered out, I put guide text on top to give me an idea of where the mask would cut out. I adjusted the images as I needed to.

Step 2: After I was satisfied with the image placement, I deleted the guide text layer, right clicked on the text tool, and selected 'Horizontal Text Mask'

Step 3: I typed out the text and positioned it in place of the guide text. Yes the screen gets blinding red when you do masking text layers. :P

Step 4: I clicked the 'move' tool, and voila, the masking layer cut out the text with the pictures.

Step 5: I selected all the layers, and merged them into one.

Step 6: I used the move tool and I dragged the selected text out of the boxed images. Make sure to put it quite a bit aways.

Final Steps: Erase the excess image clippings aside from the cut out section, then for Dorsets siggy I made a new 500x100 image and I moved the word to the new image to be edited.

Well the ones with the hat are too flashy for my taste. And others would have been a pain in the butt to render cause i have migraines from staring at the tiny details for so long.

To make a transparent BG, go to file -> New, then in the box that pops up, select 'Transparent' In the BG Contents drop down menu. You'll know its transparent if the bg is checkered gray and white. Also, when doing transparent sigs, save them as PNG, not as JPG. PNG allows the transparency to follow over when saving, JPG will fill in the transparent areas with white b:surrender

Well i'm a newb so the ones with the skill are still a little bit beyond what I'm capable of at the moment. And I actually think your character looks better with bangs. Your wrist is glitched a little bit in Picture 3 and i didn't know how to fix it. Besides, Felizia already owned that particular expression with her animated sig and that outfit looks fantastic in hers so I wanted to use a different one. LOL And I wanted a closeup, so picture 6 didn't work either. Picture 4 is actually my favorite if we're just going by screenies.

I live on my own server, I know people IRL here XD Why don't you come to RT? Im currently trying to level this archer as much as I can, so y'know :P

Im finding the time to make a signature pretty hard right now as I'm not using the PC that GIMP, and the the screenshots etc are saved on. I probably won't get it done in time for the contest but I'm still going to use your rules and see what I come up with (because I love those colours anyway!)

I did it! This is the first signature I have EVER made, and the first time I have used GIMP properly, so it's not as great as everyone else's signatures, but I had a good time making it! Plus I've learned how to use GIMP better so thank you xD

Edit: Ive noticed that there is some white showing on the left side of the Sig. Damn -.- I moved the background accidently while trying to edit the text and didnt line it up exactly

Oh well. I can try fix it if you want.

Ohh, I totally know what you mean. When I see those random "make me a sig" threads that people post instead of going to Dorset or Silvy because they can't decide I always like to participate. It's a great way to try out requests, and if they don't like it they can easily just request one from one of the professionals; like Dorset here.

Thankyou its a wonderful sig and amazing for a first try. I use gimp all the time and i think i recognise the scource of the font you used for my name also XD and i do the whole Move the Background accidently allll the time dw. i have a blank background the same colour as the forums that i copy and paste every sig onto to check its ok before i release the sigs. and i like the fact my contest is a good way of getting everyone practising XD

thats precisely why i added guidelines. for some sig creators guidelines are a hindrance but for some they are helpful. i hope you guys are enjoying the contest. feel free to have multiple attempts

Alright ladies and gents. Its been awhile (almost a year) since I made signatures or any kind of serious designs, had to get re aquainted with my old friend PS4. It was great making a signature for ya Dorset and has brought back the drive to do more after this b:thanks

Now, time for the reveal of the signature b:shocked

Tada! Nothing totally fancy (other than the text lol) I tried to incorperate the colors into the sig and also found some of my old C4D images so I popped one of them in there for the swirl effect around your head ^^;; I am pretty proud of it. b:victory
