Are Mystics a good 1st class for PvP and general play?

I've heard mixed views on how the Mystic fairs in PvP and just all around grinding.... Is the Mystic a decent class to start with?

    Mystics that know how to play can easily kill so can every other class.

    Mystics are fun. They are good in PvP assuming you have a traditional set up (full magic, p.def ornaments, etc etc). Their main job in TW/PvP is crowd control. Key for survival and versatility is pet lysing.

    PvE is very fun with Mystics too, is very easy and enjoyable, however end game instances such as Nirvana and TT benefit greatly from APS (attacks per second)... and casters are left aside (even clerics nowadays).

    As a 1st class you would only reach so far in my opinion. I have a 5aps archer, 4 aps BM and a barbie, with them I make moneyz and build my Mystic which is in this state

    For personal reasons (game isn't much fun to me anymore) I stopped playiong and, consequently, improving my Mystic char.

    Mystic is very nice and doesn't have much cons, mostly only on big mana consumption. Which can be managed rather easily.

    Mystic is an excellent choice for a 1st character for a number of reasons.

    You can repeatably heal yourself
    You have pets to distract mobs, and buff you
    You have decent control skills
    You don't ever need to shell out a fortune for a CS pet
    You have great all around defense
    You practically start off with a powerful skill: Absorb soul

    *You will be learning at least a little about every kind of squad role at the same time*

    Downsides being that if you decide to go on to a different class other than veno you will have a pretty large adjustment to make. Unless you roll a sin or bm then its still easy mode.

    If you want to challenge yourself roll a cleric, wiz, psy, or barb. I have no experience with archer, or much with seeker so idk.

    People say mystic use a ton of mp, but when you get past lv79 you don't use many mp pot at all. My psy uses them like pez, but I can go a whole BH without using a pot. Even if I'm tanking or healing, clear thoughts is super effective as long as you remember when to stop and use it.

    my gear is the cheap -42% channel atm ^.^
    i sure wish i had your gear though >.> that way i could survive a 1 shot lol

    Forget the crowd and go Lt armor balanced PD/MD you can rule in PvE and the only class that beats me in a duel is Sins and their stealth vs. PCs is OP and kills everybody. but if u catch a sin wile his stealth is in cooldown you own them too.

    The only down side to being LA is your magic weapon will be one Lv lower, but with refines and shards that is not a problem (if u can get an Alms bowl u can equip the proper Lv weapon)

    The only down side to being a Mystic is mana. You will use a lot, But farm herbs wile u grind and that wont be a problem.

    Use your combos, put the right pet , plant, and spell together with a little melee, and nothing can stop you.

    Also you will be first picked in squad for your Rez Buff.(some old school clerics resent us cause they think we step on their toes but buff them first anyway) Also Lv Salvation asap she is necessary for shielding the tank if there is no cleric around.

    its ok, r9+12 archers 2 shot me most of the times anyway... (stun+quickshot... zZzZz) b:surrender

    wish I could go past +10 on armor but I don't have anymore fun nor time to merchant hehe
    plus I lack def levels but Im sure as hell not wasting 20m per JoSD. I had those Cit/Garnet gems in bank for like forever and I wont replace them ever LOL...

    Mystic is my fav class so far... Im here since beta and i must say im in love with it.
    It also satisfies me in PK tho sins kill me fast but i believe i will be able to handle them when i get better gear.
    Also i do good job in healing in solo instances.

    Sins beat all magic casters, there's no point in going LA. Sins still beat you.

    Because they take up more than half of the server population and stealth is practically unavoidable :c
