A Perfect World -the book (maybe)

To begin with I am an aspiring author. The idea to write a book(s?) Based off of this game has been tumbling around in my head for a while. So, to the GMs if I am to pull this off (or even attempt it) what sort of permissions will I need to get and how would I go about getting them.

And to the players. Imagine a team of characters set to adventure through this perfect world. What is the perfect mixture for such a group? However, no 5 apsers allowed, this will be a perfect world after all.

    Would you write about the characters' ordeals during the release of packs and the economy faceplanting? If so, I'd probably promote your book on the side of my car or something.

    And low in the times of turmoil in middle Perfect World there emerged a little known merchant named ****You.

    Now ****ed as he was known, used his earnings to travel the land and buy the greatest of all weapons and armour available to man and beast, known in legend as Rank 9 +12.

    Using his purchases he r.aped and pilliaged wiping the experienced heroes from his chosen path.

    His reign was long and devastating, that was, until others learned of the ways to cheat time and also obtained the legendary items - then the merchant really was ****ed........

    All right, I have to admit this made me laugh lol. Seriously though I am going to attempt to focus on the story surrounding the game and its key quests, remaining true to these while adding to them to flesh out the story. I plan to leave game mechanics a gimmicks were they belong, in the game.

    As long as you're not selling it, you probably won't need permission. My thoughts are, who would buy it? lol

    just like to point out the numerous series spawned from D & D over the last decades. Now I am not saying there is that large of an audience for this, but I believe one exists

    Well I say go for it! Sounds interesting, but when you do make one how will you distribute it? If you do plan on making a story based on the game I think the style it should be made in should be akin to a web manga or web comic. Also would you like some assistance with it?

    Help? Very possibly lol. Atm i am still in the idea stage and while my goal is traditional publishing, I am not adverse to beginning on the web. as far as style...hmm, I tend towards short stories or novel formats, anything else I gotta learn how to do first. b:cute

    Publishing in print would suck, but if you want to follow the story of the game, at least overall, then publishing it here https://login.fanfiction.net/registration.php would get you some recognition and a place for all to view your work :)

    ~Oh, if you do the chrono chain / 100 culti as a part, what would you choose? Demon or Sage? You can only do one, since you either help or kill the Celeslord...

    Just to give an example of a possible direction I may take here are the (work in progress) tiltles of the first three, a series.

    A Perfect Tragedy
    Begins with the destruction of the world as proposed in the genesis expansion with back story fille for the tideborn.

    A Perfect War
    much fleshed out version of archosaur attacks with danger to duke black (will b:dirtyhe survive it?)

    A Perfect Rebirth
    The confict resolved, the gods restored, and the waiths turned back (or are they?)

    Ok another question for my research. Simce I am as quilty as anyone of blasting thru quests without reading all of the description, is there any site that has these dialogues and descriptions?

    Why dont you start this story from the beginning...starting with the first characters that appeared in this game and then gradually add the rest up to before the Tide (leaving tideborn for a new series maybe.)

    PWE, I, etc etc will probably demand 100% of the proceeds but theyll put you on an allowance of 1000 packs a month.

    Well, I think it's a good idea..

    As for copyright, I ain't too sure about that part.. Maybe the high heads of PW will ask you to modify anything relating to their game and alter names/places. Like I dunno..The Infinity Chain quest instead of Chrono.

    I don't know how it would hurt them though actually to use in game references as at the end of each novel (or short story) you could just insert a "Enjoy the book ? Now play the game *Insert website*"

    What I think also is that TT is a nice setting for heros to have a "quest" in. Many twists and turns and few traps..

    I do not know either if u are going to a serious tone or a more comedy one..

    Just don't go the way of :
    - Barb loses "agro" on a hard boss
    - Squad eventually gets wiped except cleric that survive miraculously
    - He (she) comes back to revive everyone

    "Guys, that boss was too hard, what can we do ?"

    - Archer pulls out mysterious red stones from his pockets...

    'Guys,these are hypers, I know of a place where..."

    Yeah I think u see where i'm going... In a comedy based novel, yah could make good laughs, but would maybe more turn in a parody (or would it...)

    Keep us updated on your work progress and if u had permissions to use town names and such. And not be striked by the famous :

    "The names and events of this novel are purely fictionnal, any resemblance to a said copyrighted material is pure coincidence"

    Proud supporter of the new expansion. Sure it has it's share of bugs, like any games. But for a pure farmer/grinder, that's a whole lot of new mobs to go beat up b:chuckle

    Alright then, heres an update. I am going to split the first book into several parts in order to concentrate on specifics. Each part wil eventually be integrated into the whole with any changes deemed necessary. So I will begin on part one tomorrow (8-22-11) and provide a link as soon as its finished and uploaded.

    This does sound interesting...on the whole publishing thing, it really depends on where you want to go with this story. If you plan on generating material wealth through the publications of your writings you must get permission from the main company or else you may be facing a hefty lawsuit. If it's just for your own personal entertainment then we believe someone else already pointed out FanFiction.net.

    We wonder how you're gonna implement the Chrono chain quests, those were the best part of the game. Best of luck, and do let us know of any updates. :)

Although it may not be introduced until midway thru the series. Somewhere in A Perfect War (book 2) possibly.

    Another update: An introduction and a plea for help.

    first let me introduce you to the Heroes of the story (this portion anyway)

    Merenth (of courseb:laugh) the Pyschic

    Maechiril - the lovely venomancer(in no ways a shemaleb:pleased)

    Lynx - the Cleric, all important to the success of the group

    Zyvion - a seeker (introduced in part 2 of the first story)

    now heres where the plea for help comes in, I cant seem to find fitting names for the last to members.

    you have:

    Maechirils brother, a tiger barb

    Lynx's lover, a Blademaster

    these last two desperatly need names (they just dont feel complete without them)

    Edit: they have names now! Barb is named Maethor and the BM is Callon
